This is what ordinary paper looks like under the microscope. I was a little bored today.

The paper is gray elephant hide and the finished piece was saturated with shellac to make it sturdy. It was highlighted with silver ink to give it that metallic look.
Crumpled into tiny ball, found in a parking lot. Towards the end:

Insadong is for paper lovers. There are so many shops selling calligraphy paper and brushes and accessories - just lovely!
One of my first jobs outside our family business was as a paper delivery boy. As someone with a new license to drive, I loved the job where I had to drive for miles to deliver newspapers. Alas, getting up before the crack of dawn was only for a short time. I didn't last long.
My experience with newspapers compared to the plight of the boy in this painting are from very different worlds.

The artist is making a social commentary. Apparently, there were many runaways and orphans who roamed Louisville's city streets at the start of the twentieth century. The problem had a face, the newsboy, who discovered he could make a little money for food by buying and reselling newspapers.
I sometimes color abstract coloring books. This "rainbow drop" I cut away from a much larger coloring.
Everything we believe to be constant in life is truly only paper thin. Today I'm wearing a thin mask of calm as I contemplate what it means to be unemployed for the first time in my life.

Here is a Western Paper Wasp (Mischocyttarus flavitarsis) on a leaf of Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia, Fagaceae). This is the wasp that has its abdomen on a stalk or petiole, see this photo for another shot of the same wasp. And look how the wasp is cradling its abdomen with its wings! I've seen these wasps do this cradling before, see this photo and this photo and this photo. HBBBT! (San Marcos Pass, 16 March 2021)
Just two photos today, as we had another of those @#&$ maintenance power outages that was scheduled from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm - and ran until 8:00 pm instead. Bah, this is no way to run a business - or a public utility. Oh well, I had things to do in town that took up most of the day anyway.

These are some of the fifty (or so) flowers I've made from encyclopedia pages to go along with the altered books in the Forgotten Knowledge series of books. The flowers are part of an exhibition of my work that will be on display at the PNE, called Container Art.
You can't start early enough to prepare for christmas time! So I reworked my diagram for the Kalamistar.
