EDIT June 25, 2014: Finally an update solution, completely redesigned the border (so this photo is a bit outdated)... What needs to be done is to shorten the outer square for the border to be shorter and fit properly. Then it will then meet the outer edges of the star and tuck nicely underneath the 30 degree star.

First initiated without the border last year... Yes don't be fooled here, the non standard process and folding took upto 3-4 hours to figure the stupid model to align with the diagonal, in which I explain the process below. I AM glad many of you like to use the pattern star shapes I've developed and created variations from them, some credit would be nice. AS you can see taking the basic pattern: using standard 8x8+ grids, swivelling it, stacking more, folding and figuring from first glance photo (do look at images for inspiration) in/for an obvious way or making them in a 3D motion, locking it into a modular ball, etc is nice... I prefer the style like the approach below. THIS took several hours to figure, and can require math. Want to know the process? Ok in a nutshell: fold the 30 degree star, it obviously won't align with the diagonal. Next with some math or not use several hours you to think of how much you need to rotate to align it properly. Once this is done you can refold the model (yes there were 2 previous attempts); Finally shape. There you have it.
prepared for some flagstones, but I am not sure if I could make it in this small grid, maybe it will finish as something different
from MC-ink painted copy paper (this one I really like)
this was planned to be part of Origami 365 project for 1.9.2011 (and because I didn't fnished anything else this day, so it is)
A commissioned cat quilt, all basted and ready for quilting. I put a border of white around it since I'm going to do a green border and wanted to separate it from the green blocks on the corners.
The client really loves it so I'm happy :)
Saturday's bounty, working on my upcoming paper shoe show in NYC. Each shoe is about 1.25" x 1.25". This time I am using a little acrylic paint in some of the shoes.

I wanted to do a picture for Suicide Awareness Day. The "love" on my wrist I wrote this morning. The heart is an origami someone randomly gave to me like my freshman year or something.
So, like everyone else, I have a story. I've never shared it publicly, and Flickr is the only place I feel comfortable doing it. I'm not gonna tell you my whole life story, but I will tell you that this day is really close to my heart, especially since my best friend has attempted suicide multiple times. I've been struggling with depression throughout high school and I cut on a regular basis. You can still kinda see it on my left wrist. I've thought about suicide, or at least wishing I didn't exist. I've been feeling loads better now from a combination of therapy, medication, and self-motivation. I've always sucked at self-esteem and stuff like that, but I've been lifting myself up so well for the past week. I hope I can keep it up.
But if you're like me, then... It gets better. Really. I haven't found it all yet, but I know it's out there. That thing called happiness. So just hang in there, cuz there's always someone that cares about you.
And always remember to be kind to others. Though this is a day of awareness, suicide is something you should be aware of all the time, and you should always show kindness through your actions. People you walk past in school struggle with it, maybe even someone you've talked to but you just don't know it.
PS- This picture makes my arm hair look worse than it actually is >.<
Rarely redactions are made by actually cutting out the offending content. (Usually they cross out or cover the content and then photocopy it.) This is from an AEC General Advisory meeting in the late 1940s, and the removed content refers to production data on "urchin" neutron initiators from the Dayton plant.
Is this cheating, having several photos in one? Either way, here are step-by-step instructions for the flowers here. Visit my blog for the written part. This is a posting for the archives, flickr's been just too lonely lately.

Hearty Cuboctahemioctahedron 6 units + 12 joints
The units here use the same base as a model I made several years previously- the Punji Cuboctahemioctahedron. The units take a fairly long time to make, but regardless, this has been done for a couple weeks, I just haven't had the time to upload anything. No glue in this, but it does have joints. >_< It can't be helped- to avoid the joints, I could blintz the paper, the then the hearts wouldn't be color-changed from the background. Designed by me.
Folded out of kami paper.
