Passage to Juneau, Alaska....taken during the Alaska Hubbard Glacier Cruise

This is the first time I've ever been on a cruise. It is a round trip departing from Vancouver to Alaska and back. Hubbard Glacier is the highlight of the cruise and overwhelming sceneries can be seen throughout the passage. Thoroughly enjoyed it:-)

Built in 1891, the Traverse City Opera House became the city's first pubic building with electricity. It closed in 1920, but the 1200-seat Victorian-style auditorium has been restored and is still used for performances.

It is a Michigan Registered Historic Site.

The landscape depicts the Tizi region in Morocco's High Atlas Mountains, along the N9 national road, a crucial link between Marrakesh and Ouarzazate. The reddish and ochre sedimentary rock slopes, rich in iron oxides, stand out. They are the result of water and wind erosion on geologically fragile materials, forming a badlands relief. Sparse vegetation, adapted to the semi-arid climate, colonizes the slopes, contrasting with the exposed rock formations. This mountainous route offers panoramic views of the region's complex geology, where the N9 road crosses the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters, exposing colorful rock outcrops and diverse geological structures, from ancient igneous rocks to Mesozoic sediments. The road, in addition to its strategic importance for transport, allows visitors to appreciate the natural diversity of the Atlas Mountains.

The Osterfjorden fjord is a branch of the Sognefjorden fjord that stretches for about 27 km in Vestland county, Norway. Along its banks are small villages and farms, as well as impressive mountains and waterfalls. One of the most picturesque places along the fjord is Mostraum, a village at the mouth of the Moelva River.

A view over the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye. A place you have to visit, if you are there. In opposite to the forecast, the sun comes out for us. But extremely heavy winds (round about 40 knots, all ferries from Mallaig were canceled) made it sometimes impossible to have sharp shots. Not to mention any kind of long time exposure.

No we´re heading to our next destination near Inverness.

above the eternal city, a bird floats in silence, framed by forgotten blooms and the domes of centuries past. it’s a fleeting moment — but time seems to pause just long enough to breathe.

These ripples as seen from the stern of the ship add some life to the already picturesque landscape and the calm water, as the ship starts to make a turn.

These beautiful hexagonal basalt rock columns are located next to the eastern dam of High Island Reservoir in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. There is an interesting “S” shaped pattern in the middle, which is quite unique. The "S" shaped section has been featured in the 2014 HK$ 1.7 postage stamp. The diameters of these columns range from 1.2 m to 3 m. The location is accessible from Man Yee Road.

View from Passo Giau towards Cortina d'Ampezzo with a lot of well known mountain peaks like Nuvolau and Tofane at the left, Hohe Gaisl/Croda Rossa and Cristallo di Mezzo far away in the middle and (less known) Ponta Lastoi da Formin on the right.

That morning I originally planned to visit a mountain lake near Cortina d'Ampezzo. When I am on a photo-trip, I usually go spotting in advance. For once I trusted a local person who told me, that it is possible to drive by car near to that lake. I ended at a closed barrier at the beginning of the small road which leads up to the mountain. It began to dawn and I was down in the valley in the middle of a dark forest. Good and quick ideas were needed. I decided to drive to Passo Giau. After a sporty drive I arrived there just at the last minute to capture the red sky of that beautiful morning. A hectic but in the end lucky start into the day. ;-)

Few cities in the world capture the imagination as much as Bangkok. Ornate palaces that host royal processions, Buddhist temples that witness monks chanting ancient temples, canals that lead to a maze of water markets, night bazaars that never sleep - have long proved a powerful magnet for travelers. In this sprawling metropolis, Banyan Tree Bangkok, a 5-star luxury hotel in Sathorn road, offers a spectacular rooftop restaurant and bar - Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar on the elevated 61th floor. The hostess Suritawa welcomes us with the hospitality Thailand is famous for. The greater Bangkok area has a population over 14 million. This has in turn shifted the country from being a rather homogeneous Thai population to an increasingly vibrant mix of Western, Indian and Chinese people, giving the city a cosmopolitan status. Bangkok is known in Thai as Krung Thep Mahanakhon. The ceremonial name translates it to The city of angels.

Vertigo & Moon rooftop bar at Banyan Tree Bangkok is located on the 61st floor, offering an outstanding 360-degree view of the Bangkok skyline and its surroundings. It is a double setting, where the restaurant part is called Vertigo and the bar is called Moon Bar. Opening hours: 6.30pm - 11pm (weather permitting). It's one of the best bars in the world!

For some time I wanted to post more photos of the island of Elba: in 2008 and 2009 I went on vacation, then in September 2012 until the end of 2014 I lived there, bringing my cats, so Elba means to see cats very much happy.

So now for a period, not just like a series, I stay with the photos of the Island of Elba and cats ... not only mine, and the particular flowers that are on the island, including insects.

This is a picture of the period in which I lived there, I see that I will not go in order of date but what comes to post it to change a little.

In a photo I will explain how is to live on the island, it was a very nice experience!

Sameba Cathedral in Tbilisi is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world and the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The cathedral is located on the hilltop of Elijah in the historic center of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and dominates the city skyline with its impressive architecture. Completed in 2004, the cathedral combines elements of traditional Georgian architecture with Byzantine influences. The design incorporates classic Georgian elements such as cruciform structures and details found in older monasteries and churches in Georgia. The dome of the church, covered in gold, rises 87 meters above the ground, giving the cathedral an impressive height difference and making it visible from many parts of the city. The construction of the cathedral was intended to symbolize Georgian unity and revival after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The project began in the 1990s and was largely funded by donations from both the Georgian government and the Georgian people.

The main entrance to the complex surrounding the Sameba Cathedral in Tbilisi leads to the cathedral itself. This entrance consists of a beautifully decorated gate with stone columns and crucifixes on both sides of the path, creating a symbolic passage to the holy place. The wide promenade, surrounded by green bushes and benches, invites visitors to walk serenely towards the cathedral. The architecture of the entrance wall is grand and massive, with round turrets and arched doors, which together create an imposing appearance. The building above the gate is crowned with a dome that emphasizes the Georgian style and serves as a landmark from the surroundings. Sameba Cathedral is a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims, both for its religious significance and for its architectural splendor. The cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Tbilisi and a powerful symbol of Georgian culture and identity.

The Trocadéro, site of the Palais de Chaillot, is an area of Paris, France, in the 16th arrondissement, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. The hill of the Trocadéro is the hill of Chaillot, a former village.

Trocadero is an island inside the Bay of Cadiz, in the South of Spain, bordering the Spanish mainland. Nowadays, it is connected to Cadiz by the bridge that goes across the bay. Originally, the name trocadero refers to an emporium or place of trade. In the Battle of Trocadero, the fortified position was captured by French forces led by the Duc d'Angoulême, son of the future king, Charles X, on August 31, 1823. France had intervened on behalf of King Ferdinand VII of Spain, whose rule was contested by a liberal rebellion. Trocadero restored the autocratic Spanish Bourbon Ferdinand VII to the throne of Spain, in an action that defined the Restauration. The Battle of Trocadero was particularly bloody. Spanish liberal army were into a hind of entrenchment at Cortadura de San José,(Puerto Real) which actually placed at Parque Metropolitano Marismas de Los Toruños y Pinar de La Algaida. Cortadura means a channel of sea water those communicates two different maritime channels. At the opposite side of the channel, spanish "voluntaries" build a fort, using sacks of sand which were placed at a artificial rampart. As the fort was taken because of the brave of French Soldier and Cádiz was surrender after a couple of months, the Victory was largely celebrated at France.

Today the square is officially named Place du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, although it is usually simply called the Place du Trocadéro.

The Trocadéro during the Exposition Universelle of 1900.

(Antonio Villalpando, as Cultural Heritage Advisory of Red de Parques Metropolitanos de Andalucia reviewed this article)

The hill of Chaillot was first arranged for the 1867 World's Fair. For the 1878 World's Fair, the (old) Palais du Trocadéro was built here (where meetings of international organizations could be held during the fair). The palace's form was that of a large concert hall with two wings and two towers; its style was a mixture of exotic and historical references, generally called "Moorish" but with some Byzantine elements. The architect was Gabriel Davioud. The concert hall contained a large organ built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll; the first large organ to be installed in a concert hall in France (it has since been modified twice, and eventually moved in 1977 to the Auditorium Maurice Ravel in Lyon, where is still in use today). The building proved unpopular, although the cost expended in its construction delayed its replacement for nearly fifty years.

Below the building in the space left by former underground quarries, a large aquarium was built to contain fish of French rivers. It was renovated in 1937 but closed again for renovation from 1985 until May 22, 2006[1]. The space between the palais and the Seine is set with gardens, designed by Jean-Charles Alphand, and an array of fountains.

Within its garden, the old palace contained two large animal statues, of a rhinoceros and an elephant, which were removed and stored during the demolition of the old Trocadero palace, and have been located next to the entrance of the Musée d'Orsay since 1986.

The hike from Stepantsminda to Gergeti Trinity Church is one of the most beautiful and iconic hikes in Georgia. This route offers breathtaking views of the Caucasus, with the imposing Mount Kazbek (5,054 meters) as a spectacular backdrop. Stepantsminda is a small mountain village that serves as a base for adventurers and hikers. The village is located at an altitude of approximately 1,740 meters. From here the hike starts towards the Gergeti Tower, a viewpoint halfway along the route. From the tower you already have a beautiful view of the valley and Stepantsminda. The tower is part of a network of historical fortifications, typical for the mountainous region of Georgia. In the past, these towers were often owned by local clans and served to protect the community and the surrounding land. After the tower, the trail climbs further through a variety of grasslands and rocky terrain. The climb is fairly steep, but easily doable for hikers with average fitness. After about two hours of walking (approx. 3-4 km) you will reach the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, located at an altitude of 2,170 meters. The church, built in the 14th century, is not only an architectural highlight but also an important spiritual and cultural symbol of Georgia. From here you have a panoramic view of the Caucasus and the impressive Kazbek Glacier. In clear weather it is an ideal place to enjoy the peace and overwhelming nature. Do you want to skip the climb? Then it is possible to drive to the church from Stepantsminda with an 4x4. In the summer months, horse riding tours to the top are also offered. The best time for this hike is from spring to early autumn (May – October), when temperatures are pleasant and nature is in full bloom. In winter the route can be snowy, which makes the hike more challenging but also adds extra beauty to the landscape. The walk to Gergeti Trinity Church is an unforgettable experience that you should not miss when visiting Georgia.

The photo shows the Gergeti Tower, located in an impressive mountain landscape in the Stepantsminda region of Georgia. The tower is located on a ridge and has a strategic position overlooking the valley. In the background is the imposing Mount Kuro, a rugged and impressive mountain in the Caucasus. The mountain shows a mix of rocky terrain and snow-capped peaks. The height of Mount Kuro is approximately 3,180 meters. The Gergeti Tower is part of a network of historical fortifications typical of this region. The tower, also known as the Tsromi Tower in Georgia, is more than 700 years old. Once these towers were used to protect the villages and roads from raids and served as lookouts. Today, the tower is a symbol of the rich history and culture of the area and attracts many hikers and adventurers.
