Safeguard Symposium Ministerial Panel held at the Vienna Rathaus, Austria. 1 November 2022
At an event in connection to the Symposium on International Safeguards 2022 a high-level panel convened at the historic Vienna City Hall on 1 November 2022, hosted by the Mayor of Vienna and sponsored by the Nuclear Threat Initiative. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi was joined on the panel by HE Haavisto, Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Luis Javier Campuzano Piña, Resident Representative to the IAEA, Permanent Mission of the United Mexican States; Ambassador Susan Eckey, Resident Representative to the IAEA, Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Norway; and Mr. Geoffrey Shaw, Director General of the Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office. Norway received the first IAEA inspection in 1962; Mexico concluded the first safeguards agreement applied to all of a country’s nuclear activities in 1968; Finland brought into force the first CSA in connection with the Treaty on the non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in 1972; and the first AP entered into force for Australia in 1997.

This is a very strange panel of prehistoric pictographs. All the images are quite small at 8 to 15 centimeters tall. There is an amazing amount of detail in some of them. According to what I understand the motifs are very different from anything else in Utah or possibly the country. Several of the images can be interpreted as having heads with open mouths and large teeth displayed. One might even believe they resemble a snarling dinosaur (personal conjecture). I think the general feeling is they are extremely old (Possibly the oldest art in the region). It is interesting that this art is located in a shelter with a fossil array that has been identified as the back region of an Ankylosaur. This apparently dates the rock unit as Cretaceous.

One of the earliest examples of stained glass in the country (the face is a modern restoration), this mid-12th century panel originates from the Norman cathedral and was for many years reused in the nave clerestorey of the Minster, along with other panels of the same date still in place.
Exhibit in the Undercroft beneath the Minster's crossing, a gallery space created within the cathedral's foundations during major underpinning project of the 1970s.
York Minster is England's largest medieval cathedral and almost impossible to do justice to. It has an awesome presence that cannot fail to impress.
Uniquely the cathedral was spared the ravages of the Civil War that decimated the medieval art of most English cathedrals and churches, and it thus possesses the largest collection of medieval glass in Britain throughout most of it's vast windows.
Sadly this fortune was not matched by the Minster's vulnerability to fire which has ravaged the building in 3 major outbreaks, the worst in 1829 when a madman set fire to the precious medieval furniture of the choir, which was destroyed along with the organ and the high vaulted ceiling of the eastern half of the church. Only 11 years after this tragedy a careless workman accidentally set fire to the nave roof, which also lost it's vault. Both roofs were rebuilt in replica, but a further fire caused by lightning strike in 1984 destroyed the south transept roof (rebuilt 4 years later).
Most medieval cathedrals were provided with stone vaulted ceilings precisely to avoid the problems suffered here, but York's builders found that building on such an unprecedentedly large scale brought limitations, thus all the Minster's high ceilings had to be built of wood in imitation of stone. An Achilles' Heel, but a beautiful one!

Located in the Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia (Klášter svaté Anežky České), located in the Old Town, Prague, in an area called "Na Františku". It was founded in 1231 by princess Agnes (later known as Saint Agnes of Bohemia), sister of King Wenceslas I. She herself became the first abbess of the monastery in the Order of Saint Clare. The first women came to the convent in autumn 1233 – five nuns from Italian Assisi and seven Bohemian noble-girls. They belonged to the Poor Clares (also called The Order of Poor Ladies) founded by Saints Clare of Assisi and Francis of Assisi in 1212 on Franciscan principles. This was the first convent of the Order of Poor Clares north of the Alps.
The bottom panels have been properly positioned on the building jig and will be held to the building jib by drywall screws with wooden washers. These screws will be removed later.
Edit 5/2010: When installing longitudinal bulkheads, a couple of these screws had to be repositioned as they were in the way of a longitudinal bulkhead installation footprint. This was a minor problem thus don't fret about about initial placement of these temporary drywall screws.

I developed this panel for my JR-East N gauge project, Tohoku City high level station, which is also served by city trams at ground level. The panel handes platform line select, station approach point control, and signalling. You can see that the Shinkansen tracks are separated from the local commuter lines. The panel front is clear 4mm perspex/acrylic painted on the reverse side.

why humans what to leave the earth? three motivation factors: fear, greed (put it nice profit), grandeur - motivates settlements in other worlds, it is the only way to be immortal, imagine the first city in another world named after you... this is a motivation why people did things in the past and will be in future... around 2029 the rocket will go to Mars and will never returned... it will have technology like synthetic biology and artificial intelligence... the strongest motivation is there is no government, us - it will build a new world... what they can do in the absence of controls... can be dangerous... it is better to go wrong on Mars than here... i look at this unlimited future - it will probably happen in our life time... godspeed humanity or whatever you are going to become...
what are major obstacles? mindset, significant mindset change is required, regulations....pick up things which go wrong, pick them up early... the government (laughing and applauds)... information, politics can always screw up everything, understanding political process so that you can drive it and it does not drive you... it is really important to know what could not be done as a young person... listen to your elders and your piers... gentlemen it is time for a meaningless and futile gesture... failure is not terminal... the one way to make sure you do not fail - do not give up.
How do you reform education so that people can cope with disruptive technology? Khan academy - look at it, strongly recommend it... flipping the classroom...
I cannot offer longtime employment but i can offer longtime employability... sometimes it is time to reinvent yourself. Part of it is your attitude... Disruption is a disaster or an opportunity..
