One of the advantages of having a "spare" house is that it makes packing for a ski-trip much easier!
It's been a mostly indoors day. Jan was working hard on the translation and I spent an hour or so doing a read through and adjusting a few small points.
We did take a walk to the lake but it has turned very icy on the roads and even wearing spikes it's not much fun walking over hard ice. The temperatures are above freezing so the snow on the road has melted away, leaving just the ice! Just the right time to fly to Barcelona and take a 3 hour bus ride up to the Pyrenees where there's hopefully plenty of snow. Current temperatures there are -5° to -10°C which sounds good for skiing.
We spent the day packing our bags for Nicaragua, and then we tried on the back-pack just for fun! And, as you can see, fifty pounds is not a problem for Michelle to pack around!
I purchased this from my local O'Reilly Auto Parts store. I was going to pack by hand bug figured that packing will be part of routine maintenance, so why not make things easy on myself.

In September 2024, I took a bike ride from Berlin to Copenhagen and decided to document my trip using a film camera instead of a digital one. If you have been reading this blog for a while, you already know I'm a big fan of film photography.
I decided to go analog here since I wanted to use this opportunity to capture some beautiful photos of my trip more traditionally. Of course, I didn't only carry my film camera of choice, a Lomography LC-A+, but I also used my iPhone to take pictures.

For 12 people on the trip we had 2 Australian guides, 6 sherpas, 12 porters and 19 cook boys and spares.
We're done! Today is the last day of the Games and we're busy packing up everything and shipping back to South Africa. We've worked hard, but it's been worth it.
