Since we expected the second hiking day to be quite easy (a descent of 1200 m, back to the starting point Broglio) we didn't hurry and left the Rifugio Sambuco not before eleven o'clock.
The fingerpost announced a hike of three and a half hours to Brontallo which is a little further than Broglio; we calculated a hiking time of three hours and looked forward to take a refreshing bath in the mountain brook Maggia (after having reached Broglio) and to have a late lunch afterwards: Pizza! :-)))

Made from gccseal types of graphite yarn. It combines all the advantages of the flexibility, compressibility and eases of installation of a conventional packing; low coefficient of friction and high thermal conductivity; extended shelf life, does not harden. Good alternative to pre-formed graphite ring.
Mainly types:
JFY-1210 Graphite packing reinforced by cotton fiber---Traditional graphite packing.
JFY-1220 Graphite packing reinforced by glass fiber ---Use the glass fiber instead of cotton fiber to reduce the loss on ignition.
This was taken down in the “U” district last night. I was killing time before a backcountry film opening so I experimented with my camera’s scene settings.
This is a setting called Handheld Twilight. The camera takes 6 really quick shots at higher ISOs and then merges them together to create a shot with less noise. You can do this with faster shutter speeds with no need for a tripod. It’s actually a pretty fun scene setting.
I processed this with a Kodak Tri-X 400 preset in Lightroom and didn't need to add any noise reduction. Other than that the only processing I had to do was a burn the upper right corner to bring down the highlights.
The GPS data made it really easy to plot on the Flickr map.
In 1912, the Hoonah Packing Company built the first cannery in the area which today is Icy Strait Point. Ownership traded hands several times before the Icy Strait Salmon Company purchased the property in 1932. Since its inception, the cannery has played a key role in the community. Hoonah residents were employed there and when a fire destroyed the town on June 14, 1944, many residents made the cannery their home while the city was rebuilt. While the cannery ceased to produce salmon in 1953, the cannery was used by the renowned Hoonah fishing fleet as a maintenance and storage facility until the late 1990’s. In the mid 1990’s the Huna Totem Corporation bought the cannery and created what you see today.
Our Director of Photography, Marcus Lehmann, and I check over the list of items we will be bringing on the trip. The camera equipment will have to be specially inspected by customs officials in New York and Antananarivo.
