Back then, it seems like people didn't have to look that great in bathing suits to be proud to display them in full on poses, something I would never do today!

God willing, it could be this very week!
this peacock was relaxing in the afternoon sun, I got no glimpse of any tail displays, he was quite disinterested in my prescence and he drifted into a delicious nap

I met him in front of a smokes shop in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. He asked me for a dime, I gave him a dollar and asked if I could take his picture. He was very happy to let me take several shots before he left with his coffee in his hand.

I encountered this boy in a village, proudly carrying his chicken. With sign language he indicated it wasn't for dinner, but I later figured out that it was for cockfighting.

EXPLORE # 373 -- STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!! BULLETIN!!!! I finally got the Brown Creeper Sunday at Vicki's and Harry's House. So, I am interrupting posting of the South Texas Specialty Birds for this little guy. And , you know what? This bird is one of the more difficult to photograph, as the light was unfortunately low and he moves VERY FAST.
If you notice that yellow looking stuff stuck to the tree trunk--it is called Bark Butter and is only available at Wild Bird Unlimited stores. It was formulated by the gentleman who started the franchise, specifically formulated to attract Brown Creepers. This photo is proof positive that his product does indeed work!!!!
Something else about this bird-his feathers look "out of focus" ---I thought it was me not being able to focus the lens---well, that's the way his feathers look, perfectly "in focus". They just look 'fuzzy' or out of focus--- another way his camouflage works to avoid being seen by predators!!!!
Not a 'glamorous puss' by any means, but I am more proud of this photo of this bird than many I have taken over the years!!!!
This bird barely sits still or literally not at all!!!! I took many photos over the 3-4 hours I was there. He showed up 4 times in 4 hours, and I was ready with my camera for 2 "events". I missed two appearances----- First time was when I first arrived, and the other was when I took a break to go inside and warm up a little!!!!
I was very happy to salvage about half a dozen shots of many I took---I deleted so many simply because they were blurred--yes, he moves that quickly!!!!
I do believe I see a smile on this mother's face. She has just delivered a Harbor seal pup. The pup's umbilical cord is visible in the picture below.
Forty-two Harbor Seal pups have been born at the rookery at Casa Beach in La Jolla, CA as of Mar. 30. The seals chose this spot as their newest rookery along the CA coast. It is easily viewed by the many people who come to watch, but they must stay behind a barrier for the seals' health and safety.
