Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

The most charming and delicate creation of nature itself is the rose. Roses exude a wondrous fragrance,
A divine scent in the garden,
and a lazy dawn at sunrise,
Their lips are visible to all.
A wondrous fragrance wanders through the bushes,
Circling captivatingly above the beauty.
A swarm of bees, sensing the desired nectar,
Buzzes joyfully over the flowers. Whoever has grafted the delicate rose of love
To the point of pain in the heart, has not lived in vain!
And the one who listened to God with his heart,
And the one who drank the hops of earthly pleasure!
Our world is an alley of young roses,
A choir of nightingales, a transparent swarm of dragonflies.
And in the fall? Silence and stars,
And the darkness of your loose hair...What the rose tells us,
Is there one in the bouquet?
Is it worthy of prose,
Poems and canvases.
Artists, poets,
They sing a song of praise to her.
Bouquets for lovely ladies
They are being carried from the wondrous roses.
They contain passionate confessions,
Which is better than any words.
After all, roses are like a message,
Meet me, love has come!

QUIET NIGHTS OF QUIET STARS by STACEY KENT
QUIET NOTES
Sometimes a little drop of Heaven
seeps through the ozone layer
and comes to rest above your head
forms a halo sweet with prayer
soft scented roses fill the air
more pungent with the night
and fireflies golden as the sun
set the sky alight
revisit me in dreams where time
does not exist; where you are mine
and free to come and go and please ourselves
in quiet notes of gentle twists and turns that dance
between the moon and sun
and fill our hearts and souls within
reflecting love in eyes so beautiful
that no amount of stormy clouds
can darken our horizons
when rain arrives to paint such precious rainbows
colouring our dreams with warm and luscious feelings
those perfect moments so rarely felt before
are ours tonight and can be ever more …

DINGLY DELL - LINDISFARNE
Fading ideals and memories
hidden beneath the stack
of letters and photographs
piled so high; yellowing
on dusty shelves once painted black
now peeling and dimple-dinted
by hammers and glancing blows
like my heart has taken
what my soul already knows
that we can never get back those times
of sweet halcyon days
when endless rhymes
fell from my lips into your ears
you held me so tight and quelled my fears
but like back then and so like now
the memory of you still dries my tears
and I feel your presence throughout the years
but there's no real use in looking back
except as a reminder that once all was well
those days of laughter in Dingly Dell
the smudges of mud from our runs in the hills
collapsing and breathless and laughing like stills
from an old movie we watched on cold Winter nights
over and over until we could recite
each and every phrase word perfect to our delight
smiling eyes joined our souls and set passions alight
now all I have left are those memories
they keep me warm; those sweet histories
but that's alright as long as I know
that the struggle for you that ran deeper than snow
is no longer a struggle; no longer a blow
you found new horizons; new sunsets and sunrise
the pale yellow moon lights up all your highways
you travel alone without me by your side
tucked into your breast pocket a note where I lied
telling you I was ok and not to worry about me
I loved you so much; I let you fly free
I never much wanted a caged bird you see
I would never me happy; you would never feel free
that is what true love is
the ability to know
when it's the right thing to stay
or the right thing to go
and I know it's the right thing in letting you go
because I also feel freer and I hope that you know
it will never be over; this love that I have
but I no longer feel burdened and I rarely feel sad
we can live with the peace in our minds and our souls
and the space in our heart that's reserved for us all
to let new love in; like the cherry tree flowers
that fill up my senses and transform my hours
to days and then weeks; to months and then years
until finally I get it; there is no reason to fear
we all must let go before we get back
the love that we give; the freedom we lack
I hope you are thinking as I'm thinking of you
the love we created will serve someone new.

SOUND OF SILENCE – DISTURBED
Happy Hallowe'en Bryan : 0)
KUBRICK'S AXE
He drives in silence in his car
unaware that he's a ghost
on Halloween he dons a sheet
sends invitations in the post
they travel at the speed of light
landing on the doormats
of anyone he wishes to join him
at his party in the churchyard crypt
he drinks red wine and eats his fill
complains it goes straight through him
how many bottles must he drink
to be as merry as his friends
he wonders why he's stone cold sober
he wants to joke and dance real wild
he may as well be drinking water
the alcohol effects appear so mild
and why can he walk through bricks and mortar
no-one told him that he'd passed
he starts to ask questions of his guests
why nothing seems to last
his voice is no more than a hollow sound
as he begins to ask them why
then suddenly it dawns on him
why his bones are feeling dry
the sound of silence deafens him
as he asks them while they're dining
he lifts the sheet and underneath
he'd been struck with the axe from The Shining
they hadn't known why they only heard
from him only once a year
but now they knew and so did he
when he saw their eyes full of fear
but it's ok because they didn't run far
and they told him how they felt
if they could only see him on Halloween
they'd rather that than nowt
So they danced and sang and drank some more
in the candlelit crypt to the max
and he was content and so were they
I wonder if Kubrick ever missed his axe?

tonight's prose…
captain
we're all
the captain
of our ship.
we decide
where to go,
and when.
sometimes,
it's not a conscious decision
but, more a feeling -
to drift
with the current,
and accept the life
that comes to us.

dogs are amazing creatures
there never existed a more perfect being
although each is unique
all hold a place in my heart
unlike most people
their innate ability to love and trust is singular
where humans fail
dogs never will
over the years I’ve rescued many dogs,
but they are the ones who saved me.

.. loud, intense, and although people were yelling, little was heard above the roaring of the wind. Though there were many an intrepid soul on the beach that day, there was a sense of being alone, just me and the ancient elements. In this place the internal dialogue seems to be magnified as if spurred on by the raging wind, the volume turned up bringing a distinct clarity, a comforting haven in the midst of the turmoil. An unexpected peace, a shelter with walls of noise, and sand and wind. I walked on with a sense of thankfulness thinking clearly...
It's the first day of the month, and this is a first of a new series. Hopefully I can upload some more in the future...
Good Morning!
A Forest Seemingly Full of Greens and So Many Other Colors
While a river runs through the North Shore of Minnesota
Off to the big sea, gitchi-gami by any other name
I stood, taking it all in
My life’s work is living and exploring
The finest works are often painted, but they are sometimes told in words
So if the world exists in between the breaths we take
Then I am going to exhale and inhale
Letting the air fill my lungs with that sweet elixir
Life, that beautiful life
For there is more mystery in front of me, than behind
Exhale and inhale, take one step, and then again.
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning from an overlook to the Gooseberry River in the namesake state park in Minnesota. I captured this image while on a trail around the park visitor center with a view extending to the northeast. My thought in composing this image was to take advantage of the higher ground I was located on while angling my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to capture a sweeping view across this opening in the forest to the river below. Lake Superior is just beyond a far break in the trees.
I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 9 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted. I also used an adjusted LUT (01-After-midnight) in DxO PhotoLab 9 for the final image.
There is Peace to be Found in the Mountains
But can it also be found in the valleys?
Everyone is looking for peace
That quietness of the soul to relieve and unload burdens
In the end, I found some peace in the seemingly smallest of places
As I stood beside a brook and watched the waters go by.
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon while enjoying a guided hike in Denali National Park & Preserve around the North Face Lodge area. This was a setting in this part of the national park while walking on a hard pack trail next to this setting of tundra and evergreen trees. I felt the creek flowing by had this tranquil feel to add to the landscape and image captured. Angling my Nikon SLR camera would add to that sweeping feel across this setting as well as use the leading line of the creek flowing from the rise off in the distance. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLabs 3 that I’d recently purchased after moving away from Capture NX2.
living in a world of prose (firoze)
going from bad to verse
a head full of words
afflicted like swine flu
of poems
I curse
sold myself cheaply on the internet
someone pick pocketed
my pictorial purse
a broken heart a broken soul
a rhetoric of pain of a pedestrian poet
with a pinch of passion
I nurse
fail falter feign
a worse fate
in the face of ignominy
I need not rehearse
pain they rob with petulance
dehydrated dreams of a dead body
in a rickety hearse
grave diggers hopelessly
waiting at an empty grave
your dispirited soul
with earth and gravel
to reimburse
As With Most, I Am Often Happy When Taken the Correct Directions
There is a thankful attitude with a lack of frustration, being on time
But there are sometimes...yes, sometimes when I haven’t followed
And even taken a different path
It was then I’ll be beheld a sight of mountains and eroded formations
All caught in the morning glow of sunlight
The road less traveled can be sometimes a blessing
If you are of that mind.
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning on a different road taken while leaving Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park on my way back to Colorado Springs for a flight to catch. I had seen these mountains as distant peaks while in the national park over the past several days. But it was as I drove over a small hill and came across this view that I was definitely awestruck by the setting I took in. There were towering peaks and ridgelines and closer in this towering rock spire of Needle Rock based on a peakfinder iPhone app.
Composition of the image was a matter of walking around until I could find a point that overlooked the nearby farms and allowed me to zoom in and focus on the butte and mountains. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

------
I'm a sucker for wildflowers; more so when they're truly wild in a field. I love them, they brighten any spot, even the side of a road that's riddled with potholes.
And so, this morning when I was walking back from an appointment and spotted this field of wild growth I had to pull the camera out and see what I could capture.
No field is ever the same. If I were to go back tomorrow, it would be different and I think that's what I love about places like this.
Variety, it's the spice of life!
Hope everyone has had a good day.

So Much to Remember
Remember to bring water and perhaps some food
Remember to bring a map and compass
Remember to wear comfortable shoes
Remember to wear layered clothes and a hat
Remember to bring a camera to capture the
many moments of life you come across
But off all else to remember
Is to bring an attitude of thanks and wonder
A heart that loves to explore!
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning after reaching the summit at Lassen Peak on a hike in Lassen Volcanic National Park. I had spent some time exploring this area and wanted one last view to savor before heading down the mountainside for the hike back. With this image, I pulled back on the focal length to capture a wide-angle view. I also closed down on the aperture, so that I could bring more of this setting into focus from the nearby volcanic past on this mountain peak to the more distant ones, including Mount Shasta. I chose to angle my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to bring the horizon higher into the image; I felt that might bring out more of a sense of grandeur with this northern California setting.
