A surprise to see these birds can turn their heads pretty much like owls, while in flight. When it comes to survival, extraordinary things happen. Nature is amazing!

Culprit: Fireflies - She's My Witch
It was determined early in the development of the Surcohen and related cruiser submarines that the primary limitation of the surface armament was in rangefinding - a submarine was simply not tall enough to get a sight picture out to the maximum range of the 203mm guns. A hangar was immediately added, but it was little more than a narrow pressure tube, and no existing floatplane could be disassembled to fit. Solving the problem would take nearly three years of development, until the prototype Zakkurta flew in late 1939. Serialised production was slow for the next year, limiting the type to the Aramean Navy's submarine fleet, but a manufacturing breakthrough in the finicky glass canopy assembly sped up production so significantly that it became possible to equip most of the surface cruiser fleet by the start of 1942, saving considerable space.

Only the French would see a rotor and think "we should make someone sit in the middle of that".
As we were walking around during the festivities in Jelsa, I noticed a food vendor slicing paper thin slices of Prosciutte. I aksed him if I could take a picture of the Prosciutte Ham, he said no problem. He then offered me the slice of Prosciutte, shown in this image to taste. It was very tasty and delicious. Thanks.

Labourers working on a resort construction project,
take a break and head towards their base.. situated on the neighboring island,
where food and lodging is arranged.
Recently, the Labour Ministry reluctantly announced the figures of 'legal' immigrant workers in Maldives at around 75k. Not big.. they must have emphasized, when considering the amount of projects currently underway.
But it is very big, when compared to the local population, currently at around 350k.
That is roughly 1:4 ratio of foreigner to every Maldivian citizen. Young and old included.
In some local village Islands which are in close proximity to construction sites, the figure escalate to alarming levels, which also lead to much tension between groups and hence lead to many unwanted social problems.
There are approximately, 30 newly leased resorts, 11 airports and over 60 harbour dredging projects.. in addition to the numerous building construction projects underway (or about to begin) in the Capital City and in the islands.
If this is not big, then big is certainly on the way shortly.
The Government is taking steps to develop three mega cities in the following zones.. Gulhi Falhu, Bodu Mohoraa and Ihavandhippolhu.
I am not going to climb this Edison Tower (pylon) as I can hear the loud buzzing of the A/C power flowing through the cables being generated by Edison's Tehachapi project!
I will go there again this morning to attempt photographing Purple Finches.

are you here to make your confession, my son?
yes, father. it's my first time. I'm not sure if I can do it.
of course you can. what are your sins, my son?
you promise not to tell anyone?
you can rely on me. in fact, it's nothing personal at all. go ahead, ask me if I care.
you don't care?
whatever you did is definitely not my problem. no way. isn't that comforting?
somehow it's not exactly what I thought.
you see? I knew I could put your mind at ease.
yeah. something like that.
Wake up, Maggie I think I got something to say to you
It's late September and I really should be back at school
I know I keep you amused, but I feel I'm being used
Oh, Maggie, I couldn't have tried any more
You led me away from home
Just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart, and that's what really hurts - Rod Stewart
Magpies have always given me problems. If the light wasn't perfect I could count on getting no details from this bird. Today was overcast and gray but when this bird just landed on this mullein a stone's throw away I knew I had a golden opportunity. I had time for a short burst and not even a chance to zoom out before the bird was gone. It was like Maggie was having some compassion late this September before leaving.
I've been studying recent developments in the whole AI/Midjourney technology thing, and discovered a serious problem: some of my images here on Flickr have been used to "train image-generation AI".
There's a site you can use to find out if any of your work has been used to train the Laion-5B and Laion-400M image datasets: haveibeentrained.com I have found my photographs reproduced in whole, clearly without my permission and in violation of my Intellectual Property Rights.
Class Action lawsuits are ongoing to prevent unauthorized use of people's work, because clearly there need to be some rules about what can and cannot be used to train these datasets. You may want to look to see if any of YOUR photos are used in this way.
I'm contacting management at Flickr to find out what my options are. ALL of my images here on Flickr are marked as Copyrighted, and no unauthorized use of them is permitted. I'm curious to see how Flickr responds to this problem. I'm ready to permanently pull the plug on my Flickr account if I am not satisfied with the outcome. @flickr
Until there is some sort of resolution of this problem, either through class action lawsuits or Flickr safeguarding members work from misappropriation, I will only post a blank grey square every day, indefinitely.

Fellas, there are like 1/2 dozen threads on this topic. The culprit is Android mobile, and the best guess is that Android bots are just going through people's entire libraries. Probably copying every image as they go, but if you're pro and click through to the details of where your pics are coming from, safe bet it's mobile/Android.
Not that you'd ever learn that from someone authoritative like, say, Flickr support....

I have a serious problem with Cardinals - whenever I see one I am compelled to take a picture of them. The usual scenario is this: I'm in the middle of tracking another bird that I've been following for countless minutes, waiting for it to show itself. Then along comes this beautiful Cardinal to distract me and it works. Of course as soon as I go to shoot the Cardinal the other bird comes out in the open for a second and naturally I miss the shot. I'm sure the Cardinal knows exactly what it is doing - just look at that expression on his face.
Ran to photograph this eagle before a gal with a cell phone camera got too close and scared it off - a common problem

âWowsers, Sky, what have you been up to? You look shattered.â Asked Bertie as he watched his friend still struggling with a jar of honey.
âIâve been trying to sort out a problem we have, Bertie. At the moment the problem is winning.â
âIs it anything to do with that jar of honey, and all these tools, Sky?â
âIt is all to do with these tools and this jar of honey, plus all the other jars of honey we have in hiding.â
âI borrowed some from Posh rather than start my own honey this morning. I think it was older and I didnât want his jars to go out of date and then him have to throw it away.â
âThat is very good of you, Bertie, to think about Poshâs honey and how bad he would feel having to throw some away. It does not, however, help me to solve this problem any more than all these tools have done.â
âHello, Bertie, Sky, looks like the man is going to use his picture taking thingy again. What are you doing, Sky?â Asked Posh as he joined his friends sitting down beside them.
âWe have a problem, Posh. The people the man buys his groceries from have either changed or they have changed the honey they are supplying. The problem is that I canât seem to get the top off the jars. I have tried three or it could have been two, Iâm not that good at counting, but I do know that I couldnât get to the honey.â
âI see, yes, it is a different size jar, I can see that. Have you tried the thing that wraps around the top of the jar and sometimes opens it?â
âOf course, it didnât help. You try and see if you can move it, Posh. You are bigger and stronger than me so you might be able to open it.â
âVery well, you hold onto the jar, Sky, and Iâll try and remove the lid.â Said Posh Bear as he grasped the lid and tried to turn it.
âNo, sorry Sky, I canât move it. Weâll have to come up with another way to open the jar.â Said Posh.
âCan I try, Sky, I might be able to open it for you?â Asked Bertie.
âIf Posh canât open it then I donât think youâll be able to, Bertie. I could ask Buttons to open it but he wants to have half the jar every time he opens one.â Said Sky scratching his head with his paw.
âWell, tell him he canât have half the jar after he has opened it, Sky. Just say that it is wrong to take advantage like that.â Said Bertie trying not to grin.
âBertie, have you seen the size of that bear? If he says Easter is in December this year, Iâm not telling him it isnât. He is a bit of a grump at any time and anyway, it wouldnât improve his mood telling him he couldnât have some honey.â Said Sky now looking desperate.
âAre you sure I canât try and open it for you, Sky? I wouldnât want half a jar in payment.â Said Bertie softly.
âI know, Bertie and thank you for your kind offer but I honestly feel that if Posh has tried and I have tried, and failed, then it is going to take someone extra strong to get this open. I wonder if the shop we get our honey from sells a honey jar opener. Maybe that is the answer.â Said Sky slightly brightening up at the idea.
âThat would be good long term, Sky, but that wonât help you right now.â Said Posh Bear.
âThanks Posh, that has really cheered me up. Which school did you go to, to learn such tact and diplomacy? Here comes the man and he is ready for the picture I think.â Said Sky trying to smile and failing.
The photograph taken the bears waited until the man began clear things away before they too started to move. Bertie picked up the jar of honey in his paws, placed it between his leg paws and gripped it tightly then took hold of the lid and twisted. There was a slight hiss, and the lid came off.
âSky, you need to be careful when you take your jar of honey back as the lid is off.â He said smugly.
âBut how, what did you do, how did thatâŚ? Stammered Sky.
âIt was easy, you just need the knack. Let us go back to your stock and then Iâll show you how it is done on two more jars, one for Posh and the other for me.â
âBut, but two jars?â Asked Sky in astonishment.
âYes, Sky, I think it is about time you began sharing like the rest of us. It is the only way you are going to get any more honey.â Said Bertie firmly.
âIâm going to really enjoy this jar of honey.â Said Posh bear smiling. âA jar of Skyâs honey, that is a first!â

When these machines got their second lives by getting to LOTOS, they had a lot of hope in working on heavy trains with tank wagons. Unfortunately due to the high failure rate and problems with spare parts, the locomotives went away before end of the leasing and so far we will not see them on the rail road.
