I love Popeye, he is one of my childhood hero! Not long after I’d done making this build, I thought hey maybe it can fit as a LEGO Ideas project and share it with everyone who love Popeye too :) So if you want a Popeye LEGO set to be officially sold, please click the support button on this LEGO Ideas page, here:

ideas.lego.com/projects/121627

It needs 10,000 supporters to reach the review stage. Please share it on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites…and tell everyone you know to support it too! This Popeye set would not become a reality without your help. Thank you for your support! :)

Basic Info:

- Dimensions: Width 12 cm x Height 20.5 cm.

- Number of Pieces: (+/-) 391 pcs.

Description:

This LEGO Popeye model is perfect to be put as a display in your home, office or on your working table. There are 14 point of articulations spread on the neck, arms, hands, hips, legs and feet which makes this model really posable and can be played anyway you like :)

Behind the Build:

One of the reasons why I love Popeye is because it reminds me of my late father who have passed away more then a decade ago. Back then when I was a kid he'd always rent and show me a Popeye video whenever I'm eating my green vegetables (and yes, I still hate vegetables even till now), and one of the things I remember about Popeye is that eating vegetables and spinach can make you stronger! Now I have 2 boys of my own and I tell them the same thing, "Boys, eat your veggies so you'll both be strong like Popeye!" :)

PS: If you happen to notice the missing pipe on his mouth then you are right; the new modern Popeye and the upcoming Popeye movie (whose trailer you can see on Youtube) isn’t using the pipe anymore, which fortunately fits with one of the rules in LEGO Ideas that prohibits the depiction of smoking :)

29" Betsy McCall, circa 1962, made by American Character Doll Company wears a Tonner Doll Company sailor outfit made for their reproduction.

Movie set built for the movie Popeye with Robin Williams. Yes, he played Popeye 😂 and not so terribly well. Under normal circumstances that movie should have started and ended his Hollywood career but it did not.

A comic and cartoon character by the American cartoonist Elzie Crisler Segar. The sailor eating spinach gained the public domain in many countries. Segar gave him a striking appearance with the captain's hat, the anchor tattoo on his left forearm, the grotesque proportions of his arms and a crooked face (due to the pipe squeezed in the corner of his mouth and the constant squinting of an eye).

Good morning.

Met this gentleman living on the streets of St.John's. Super intelligent, super sharp yet somehow wound up living on the street. Wish I had more time to sit and chat with him.

Macro Mondays: Candy

Popeye Candy Sticks in their iconic red box. Once upon a time these had red-painted tips and were called candy cigarettes; they were re-branded and the red removed when people started to worry about promoting any kind of cigarette to kids (let alone a fun and tasty one). Now made in Colombia by the Sweetsol candy company.

Just a bit under 3" across.

I watched one of those shows on Food Network that is basically a long advertisement. They showed how they tumbled the chicken in the spice mixture at Popeye's, then let it sit for 12 hours before frying it. They said the biscuits were so popular that they changed the restaurant chain's name to reflect that.

So the next day there I was at Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits. It's never as good as they make it sound (especially that salty biscuit).

My brave, soldier, I will miss you forever...God bless RIP...Philip was my dear husband and if anyone wishes to donate to a charity, The Anthony Nolan Trust is the one I suggest, as he was diagnosed with a bone marrow complaint.

Philip was in 42 Commando.

Popeye is my statue that I photographed. The rest of the pieces on this "movie poster" is images I have taken and some are stock.

There is a step by step album on how I made this image on my Facebook page if you are interested in that.

The movieposter is of course fan made. No movie is planned as far as I know :)

It is located at Anchor Bay, 3 kilometres (2 mi) from the village core of Mellieħa, Malta.
