La galaxie naine UGC 685 est située à 15,7 millions d'années-lumière de la Terre dans la constellation des Poissons (Pisces). Elle ne compte que 100 millions à quelques milliards d'étoiles, nombre très faible comparé à la population de la Voie lactée qui possède quant à elle plus d'une trentaine de galaxies naines. Les plus grandes peuvent atteindre 15 000 années-lumière de diamètre et seulement 1 600 pour les plus petites. Avec un million de masses solaires, les galaxies elliptiques naines sont à peine plus massives que des amas globulaires, les géantes plus rares de dix mille milliards de masses solaires étant extrêmement lumineuses. Ces galaxies naines présentent souvent une structure où l’hydrogène atomique neutre atteint des distances bien plus grandes que leurs étoiles et pourrait constituer une bonne cible pour les études sur leur halo de matière noire.
Prise dans le cadre du Legacy ExtraGalactic UV Survey (LEGUS), l'image ultraviolette est ici la plus précise et la plus complète des galaxies en formation d'étoiles dans l'Univers proche. LEGUS étudie en effet 50 galaxies spirales et naines dans notre voisinage cosmique, et résout leurs étoiles, amas, groupes et autres associations stellaires qui les constituent (cf. texte : ESA Agence spatiale européenne et image : ESA/Hubble et NASA, équipe LEGUS, B. Tully, D. Calzetti, remerciements : Judy Schmidt Geckzilla).

I originally had this done at the age of 16. It was done by my sons dad by a homemade gun. I hid it for so long from my parents. And I swear my dad didn't see it till a few years ago. I have had it redone 2 times now, and I am more happy with it now. Everyone either thinks it was an H(my last name) or a butterfly(I don't see it) but it is for my sun sign. I am a true Pisces through and through

This was my take on the Pisces symbol. I grew up raising koi fish so I was so excited to do this cake.

Being a Pisces, I've always loved water, and as I'm still learning the whole levitation thing, I decided to try this out.
It could have come out much better but me being me, I ran the bath without turning the water heater on, so it was freezing! But enjoy!

Presque vue de face depuis la Terre, elle affiche une barre centrale lumineuse et quatre bras spiraux étroitement enroulés, recélant de petits disques nébuleux, des galaxies d'arrière-plan. Malgré son apparence tranquille, elle a été le théâtre en 2015 d’une explosion de supernova, qui sont des étoiles massives responsables de la forge de nombreux éléments trouvés sur Terre. Ses détritus permettent de mieux comprendre l'évolution de la matière dans notre univers rt de mettre en lumière la nature des systèmes qui les hébergent (cf. ESA/Hubble & NASA, A. Filippenko, J. Lyman).

Thus, to keep the tradition I chose The Fish to represent the Zodiac.

Pessoalmente o branco das unhas não ficou tão evidente como nas fotos.
E para tirar não foi muito sofrido, foi só deixar algodão molhado de acetona sobre as unhas por alguns minutos e pronto :)
A olho nú foi mais fácil ver os glitters holográficos.
Na verdade, o Pisces é uma explosão de brilho.

I am a Pisces(my sun sign is anyway!) & I am pretty true to the traits of my sign.
Some of t he physical characteristics of a Pisces woman are: a very feminine shape, heavy bust, light expressive eyes, & pale skin. You be the judge on that! lol
It is also said that Pisces is the link to the spirit world & many of them are not happy within the confines of the traditional religions; that we are intuitive, sensitive, emotional, creative, capable of great sacrifice, unselfish, generous & loyal to a fault.

These rotating twin fish have taken over the Howell Fountain looking down the walkway towards the Fuqua Conservatory.
The arbor of trees allowed just a smattering of light and a lovely frame around the fish sculptures that are part of the Imaginary Worlds installation.
