The new amusement hall on the pier has some fantastic attractions, A very realistic looking F1 simulator proved too hard to capture, but this wonderful robotic arm that flung people all over the place yielded more. Well worth a trip for anyone who hasn't been there before.
Brighton, 19th February 2011.
We reached the pier and Guy decided to search for some lemon sherbets. No sweet shops were open. We arrived at the end of the pier and turned on our heels to go back to the town. A doughnut stall tempted us to buy 4 of the ring shaped treats (2 with plain sugar and 2 with cinnamon sugar), and we mused with the friendly salesman about people dropping their money in the fat whilst paying, whether this could be made into a contemporary Trevi Fountain, and what the consequences would be for a wrist-watch should it fall in. He absent-mindedly placed some doughnuts into two bags and as we left we realised he had given us 6 doughnuts, possibly as a reward for being nice customers.
We then returned to Brigthon station and on to London.
Tiny village in Poland called Venice...has some attractions to offer...I did like the pier the most.
Sadly deserted and closed off to the public this beautiful old pier built by Eugenius Birch (who seemed to be the master pier builder of his day) has been derelict for a couple of years after the previous owners were told to close it on health and safety grounds. There seems to be no activity and the Council have been looking at compulsory purchase. Lets hope it doesn't go the way of Brighton's West Pier, whose demise started in this way
