chilly november morning at the old pier and breakwater for the church street power boat ramp in evanston, illinois, near northwestern university. no powerboats but plenty of ducks and gulls were making use of the facilities.

Early morning at Penarth Pier about a kilometre along the coast from Cardiff Bay. I used my 14mm ultra wide angle lens for this one.

Blow the dust off the Camera and shoot a few frames...

Long exposure using a Pro ND1000 10 stopper.

Hoping for a sunrise under the pier, this is as good as it got. I did take this pier from several angles but the light had gone by that point to get anything more interesting, less sand and more ocean next time....

Morning breaks over the Atlantic Ocean through the fishing pier there in Ocean City, Maryland.

Second visit to Steetley Pier this year. Much more dramatic sunrise this time, and much warmer than it was in January too! Had bit of a scare at one stage when the tripod toppled over landing the camera face down in the surf . Recovered quickly with no lasting damage but I spent 10 minutes drying the camera and lens off rather than watching the sunrise. Have to be more careful in future...

I started this 4 minute exposure with the sun just setting, and just before the colors exploded ... you can get a hint of those colors just starting here in this shot with the tones and hues in the clouds, as the clouds went from blue to purple with small amounts of pinks during this long exposure.

This time of sunset is always exciting as you just do not know what nature will be showing in the next few minutes ... and how rapidly it changes. A truly magical time of day and anticipation.

Happy Bench Monday :)

The slight breeze muted the reflection a little here on the river, but it was a pretty blue hour time of day and nice clouds on this particular evening along Middle River.

Happy Bench Monday

I have tried to get this under the pier shot every time I go to Va Beach. I have many attempts on my computer but I was never completely satisfied with the outcome. But I am closer to my goal with this shot.

Happy Blue Hour Bench Monday ...

This was captured this morning before sunrise. I have not taken any here in the morning ... most of the time I end up visiting my dad in the day and this get the sunset view here. The light filling in the from the dawn sky to our rear here in the early morning fills in nicely the details on the pier and bench ... a different quality of light versus the blue hour in the late evening where the pier and benches would be in more silhouette.

This shot is of a fishing pier near 91st street in Galveston, Texas. I was fortunate to get this shot early. Rain started about 10 minutes later.

Morning along the Atlantic Ocean in Maryland.

The delightful Worthing pier at sundown. As remember I whent out looking for end of day photos and this is what i found.

Liked the warm end of the day light hitting the pier and far off homes, and those pretty clouds in the sky above the river. Used the 6 Stop ND here to slow down the shutter a couple seconds smoothing out the breezy ripples on the river surface.

I really spent more time on this then I planned. I kind of fell down a rabbit hole and couldn't stop ..;) Here's some info which pretty much covers it, Tourist Trap ..;)

Pier 21 offers a variety of attractions, restaurants, and lodging at the pier’s exclusive hotel and marina, Harbor House Hotel and Marina at Pier 21.
