This is from Öland, Sweden 3 weeks ago. Was shooting handheld brackets and got lucky with the wave making a line in from bottom left. Cheers all!
Re-posted from a few years ago. Just wanted to put it back on my front page...
Early morning in Virginia Beach
Captured at sunset looking east along the Atlantic Ocean. Catching that nice last of the day pink glow that you get on a clear night.
Second visit to Steetley Pier this year. Much more dramatic sunrise this time, and much warmer than it was in January too! Had bit of a scare at one stage when the tripod toppled over landing the camera face down in the surf . Recovered quickly with no lasting damage but I spent 10 minutes drying the camera and lens off rather than watching the sunrise. Have to be more careful in future...

The slight breeze muted the reflection a little here on the river, but it was a pretty blue hour time of day and nice clouds on this particular evening along Middle River.
Happy Bench Monday
I have tried to get this under the pier shot every time I go to Va Beach. I have many attempts on my computer but I was never completely satisfied with the outcome. But I am closer to my goal with this shot.
Sandbridge, Va ... summer 2015

This shot is of a fishing pier near 91st street in Galveston, Texas. I was fortunate to get this shot early. Rain started about 10 minutes later.
Taken with my old Minolta SLR camera with filter. One of my faves from Photography 100.

Winter sunrise with the sun rising under the pier .
Thank you for taking the time to view, fav and comment, looking forward to 2017.
This is the colour version of an image I posted a few weeks ago. The colours are pretty outrageous but they are not that far away from reality. The shot was taken well after dark using a 30 second exposure at f2.8 so you will get an idea of how dark it was. The orange tone of the pier comes from the security lighting on the nearby building. The purple tone in the water is from the lights from a nearby shipping terminal bouncing from the low clouds. I did try to tone it down a bit but when it came to it I quite liked the rich overtones. Let’s just call it an abstract… ;-)
Liked the warm end of the day light hitting the pier and far off homes, and those pretty clouds in the sky above the river. Used the 6 Stop ND here to slow down the shutter a couple seconds smoothing out the breezy ripples on the river surface.
My boss kindly allowed me to leave work early yesterday to catch the beautiful sunsets we have been having on the west coast of Scotland. I decided to head to Craigendoran Pier near Helensburgh, an old childhood haunt as I went to high school there. The sun came down perfectly over Greenock and Port Glasgow and I pushed the camera for some very long exposures. This is the first of 5 photos I will upload here. Have a great weekend :)
