The first cold morning of the season didn't stop me today. I made a plan and headed down to Sidney's landmark pier to take some photos.

With a little planning and an alarm clock I got some shots I'm really happy with.

I think the pier is normally a good 10-15 feet above the water, but on days like this, it's closed to the public because the waves are too high.

A pier has been here since 1864. It has suffered from storm damage and fire throughout the years, hence why it is so short. I used to watch The Birdman of Bognor competition every year. I used to love the beach in general, and miss living by the sea. One day I will go back for good.

Perfect weather for pier walking - cold, grey, blustery :) The pier has a notice up saying "No professional photographers without prior permission" - I wish! They also ban tripods - who knows why. Still, it was bracing.
