The flat hill in the distance is a marvelous formation that can be recognised from miles away. Just to the south of it is located the historic 77 ranch first owned by Peck and Converse. Mike Shonsey of the Johnson County Range War was employed by the 77 ranch. www.wheeler-roots.org/histories/history-shonsey.php

In his book,The long trail from Texas, Ad Spaugh talks of burying a couple children who live with thier mother in a cabin east of Flat Top that took sick and died. They were buried on a pine knoll nearby Flat Top by a crew of sad cowboys.

My Grandmother who knew Ad and sadly recalled visiting with him about the burial. She told me of it before I had ever read the book many years later. Exciting and hard times...

Last Thursday after work Yoann and I went on the beach of Bourda/Montjoly (Ifremer's entry) to try a sunset shot. Unfortunately, it was full of joggers and kitesurfers. The tide was too high to try to compose with the rocks, so ... yet a selfportrait (sorry ;-). Beach of Bourda (French guiana).

One from way back. I'm not sure why I didn't post it in the first place...probably because of the huge James Bond advertisement on the building on the right.

Unless you've a handy machete with you on your travels this has to be seen at dawn, empty from the hoards of tourists that arrive soon afterwards. It's a very beautiful space indeed.

Republic forces in retreat! While rescuing General Aayla Secura from certain defeat, Anakin Skywalker has been seriously injured. After a narrow escape, our heroes crash-landed on the remote world of Maridun. Stranded, and with no way to contact the Republic, the Jedi receive medical aid from the peaceful Lurmen colonists. But even on this tiny planet, the war threatens to follow the Jedi....

Star Wars The Clone Wars means so much to me. It defined so much of my childhood all the way into my teenage years, and even now it still impacts me. Then you also have Rebels, it never ends haha :P

I'll currently rewatching Star Wars the Clone wars in canon order and am close to finishing Season 5. Still such incredible content! As I've been going I've been jotting down ideas from episodes I want to build, and this was one of the first on the list. This is of course from the Episode Jedi Crash. I have lots more planned (and currently have 2 others built) So get hyped. But yeah you know, exciting! There'll be MOC's from Seasons 1 through to 5 and most likely even the Lost Missions too.

I know I've watched Seasons 1 and 2 more time then I can remember, and this episode was always a very enjoyable one for me. Not my favourite by any means, but very enjoyable!

The short and sweet spring seems to be ending here in Texas. Constant day temperatures in the 90's and a heat that breaks you into sweat as soon as you step outside. However the evenings can still be quite nice so we have to enjoy them while they still last. We spent last Saturday night doing just that. What a place to spend an evening. I hung out with the family sitting around chatting and enjoying the nice evening. We lit a fire as the sun was setting and I decided to set the camera up to make a photo. To capture this scene the way I saw it I had to use an HDR technique and combine the three image HDR with the best photo of the fire and digitally blended this image with the tonemapped HDR.

This is bamboo.

I'm exhausted beyond words. I'm getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, no more than that. I'm bombarded with school and homework. Geometry quiz, two sections of history notes and Q&A, and an entire double-page spread for the yearbook all due on Friday, none of which I have started, none of which I have the damn time to do. I'm beat, so bad I want to cry. The worst part is, when I get into my bed, no matter how early or how late, it takes me hours to fall asleep. Hours.

I want a cure.

Please take my heart... Love that band and that song so much, the lyrics are beautiful, heard it again this morning on the TV, don't know why but it speaks a lot to me.

So I decided to get back on the idea of choosing a music first, and then realize some picture using the inspiration I found. I think it's the most difficult but exciting way to play with lyrics.

So that's what happened today, I decided to use this song and that's the idea I found for today's shot.

This is the Saint Catherine street, just the longest pedestrian street of Europe in the deep center of Bordeaux.

There's always so much people and shops over there, it's amazing.

Spent a great afternoon with my friend Julien, thanks to him for the picture !

One thing you don't know is how much this picture and the concept illustrate perfectly Julien's yesterday !

It's really too funny, the composition and the picture is relatively simple but I'm really proud of this one.

AHH. It's winter. I did not expect it to come this quickly! It's been so cold, so I'm hiding in scarves, and Skyrim. It's crazy, I went outside to take a picture, and had to run inside and get a scarf and warmer jacket.

This happened.

My hair is also a really light blue, now, I loove it! I might try to put a baby-blue dye over it, though. :3

Also, the texture I put over it was a picture of sparkling snow, that I took when it snowed for two weeks last winter~ <3

Also, Kaskade's album "Fire & Ice" is amazing. So, listen to this.

I have a certain amount of indecision with this one, texture/no texture, green tones/brown tones.....bah.

I just need to post the darn thing...haha.

I want to link to all the stock images here, but frankly, there are at least a dozen of them and maybe when I have a moment to dig them out and pass them along I will....the point is - they were all free and I didn't infringe anything.

I actually sort of grossed myself out looking through pages and pages of bugs and rodents to find them...gave myself the creeps...lol.

As for me, that was easy since I'd just gotten out of bed anyway...easy to plop back in. ;-)

Ah well, my coffee's gone cold and I suppose it is time to get productive...hee hee. happy Monday, all!

Have a great one.

Random Fact du jour: I actually went through a rather 'girly' stage about 11 years ago, and I, in fact, collected fairy things. I was obsessed with Amy Brown and Jessica Galbreth. I choose that as the defining cause behind my sock addiction...all those stripey-legged fairies just permeated my brain.

We attended a landscape photo workshop yesterday (Sunday). Not too close - 4hr drive to location in South Moravia, Czech Rep. so we had to wake up at 4am and got back home too tired around 11pm. But it was so worth it. Location was stunning and well known by the pro photographer who was leading the workshop. And he even managed to secure ideal weather somehow LOL. Area was full of rolling hills that are used for agriculture so the fields were vibrant and varied. Sky was nice and blue almost all day with those puffy white clouds moving very fast in the strong wind and that resulted in an amazing light&shadow show on the fields.

At one moment I spotted a triangle illuminated in the sea of shadows so I immediately turned the ball head on my tripod, prefocused manually, adjusted polarizer & 1-stop hard edge grad filter, set the exposure and fired. Post process included only the adjustment of the levels to achieve better contrast, tiny bit of saturation and square crop.

Didn't have time to play with all the photos yet but this one is my personal winner - at least I think so ;) Anyways... expect more photos soon.

Thanks for looking!

Your feedback is always appreciated ;)

We arrived in Tahoe early in the afternoon, did the whirlwind tour of Tahoe. What a pretty day, sunny, warm and party cloudy. Our first goal was to scout out the location of known photo ops, but also to find some new ones. We found several areas that we are going to go back to when the weather is better. A few parts in the back country, which I am really happy about. Since I have been trying to get Jim to go on a back packing trip for years.

Our scouting led us into Nevada to look for the elusive bonsai rock. Luckily, I had a GPS with the coordinates. So I set the GPS to navigate, so we would know how close we were to the parking/trailhead as we drove south. I looked over the edge of the cliff and could see bonsai, but the GPS still said 4.2 miles, then after another minute of driving the GPS beeped to illustrate that we were there. Oh well, just goes to show that technology still has a way to go.

We took the long straight down, boulder hoping route to bonsai. With camera gear, wading boots and extra warm clothes in tow... it was a bit of a journey. Luckily, we spent a few hours there, so the trip was worth it.

I posting an image from twilight, since Jim's sunset can not be beat.

Please meet my new HDR machine gun, the Nikon D300, here with the Sigma 10-20mm. It fired over 250 shots (in burst of 7 auto-bracketed exposures) during 30 minutes! OK, I only used a total of 16 exposures for this Vertorama.

It's an incredible camera, there will be some learning curve before I can really enjoy its amazing features.

On the annoying part, my D300 was apparently born with a hardware defect: sometimes the data link between the body and the lens is lost, therefore the autofocus stops to work. It will be replaced this Monday.

It's been a very long day at work today, left the house at 7:30 this morning, got back at 9:30 tonight and have had a somewhat hectic time inbetween (productive though!) I'm quite surprised I managed to remember to take a photo of the day tonight with the little brain function I have left! LOL!

There is (as often the case!) a bit of a story here. Some of the older children at school were selling flowers this evening as part of their enterprise project. When I left to come home there was just one sad and lonely and very wilted gerbera sitting in a bucket of water. It looked such a sad specimen I couldn't resist taking it home, giving it a trim and some water and then immortalising it with a photo! There's something quite satisfying about taking an ugly duckling and turning into a swan! ;-))

Anyway, the Gerbera has perked up and I'm waffling, I should really go to bed! Will catch up tomorrow! :-)

This was not my original idea, I had something planned out, and it would have really been something. but, it didn't work out. That's something that happens with me, i can never plan out a shot, i get too excited about it and it falls short. This time I just couldn't get past the NO TRESPASSING gate. but, I love this shot more than I think that original shot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m done.

And my oh my, that’s nice to say :) So I’ll now go through the typical 365 final shot description part…

I started flickr because someone told me about it and figured it would be a pretty good place to get some feedback on my photos other than my friends on myspace and facebook. I didn’t have much to use, and my stream was less than buzzing with comments. Then I found this group for a “One object 365 days project” and thought that would be pretty cool. Each day do something different with the same object. So I chose this little stuffed rat “Felix” and got pretty far, around day 23 I found FGR. Then little by little my “One object 365” dropped and I started doing more self portraits. Then, when I decided to do a Self Portrait 365 project I dropped my other project and started one Tuesday in August. The date meant nothing to me, and it doesn’t now. August 12th. It was just a day. Just a day that started this whole mess of amazingness. Just a day. But, I really think every time August 12th rolls around, I’m going to remember it was the start of something more awesome than I ever though possible.

I didn’t grow up knowing I wanted to work with art. I switched around with my “future plan” a lot. But I’d always loved to take pictures. I used to own a Polaroid and I would run out of film faster than we could buy it. Then I obviously went mad and sold it. Dumb. It wasn’t until high school that I realized that I belonged in some sort of art field. And it wasn’t until flickr that I knew it was photography. And, now, it’s switched again. I’ve fallen in love with theatrics. Theatrical makeup is where my heart is now. And I’ve got you all to thank for that. I used to play with my makeup in my mirror late at night. Trying to do what the makeup artists do in movies. Halloween soon became my favourite time of year because I could actually SHOW people what I did, without looking foolish.

I owe so much to this photo sharing site and this 365 project. It’s silly sounding, but it’s true. It has become a sort of therapy for me. I’ve let so much out with each picture I’ve posted. I’ve shared with you all more than I’ve shared with my family. I had no idea it would be so easy to tell you all everything that I have. My secrets, and quarks, random facts and tidbits. I suppose it’s because it’s just text on a screen rather than face to face.

I’ve met so many amazing people. Please, if I don’t include you personally, if you’ve followed me this far, know you mean a lot to me :) These are in no particular order.

-Abe.Oh Abe. I don’t even know what to start with. You’ve helped me so much more than anyone knows. When I was ready to give up you were there ready to pick me up. I’ve cried to you, and laughed with you. You’re an inspiration. Each day, each time you ABE a damn photo ;-) I am reminded how lucky I am.

-Liina. :) You, like your sweet hubby, have helped me so much. I hope one day, I’ll be able to meet you in person just to give you the hug you deserve. ♥

-Steven. I just can’t think of the words. You’re more amazing each day. I doubt you even know how much I look toward you. Each time you upload something it’s something new, something exciting, something beautiful. You’re one of the most amazing artists I’ve ever ‘met’ And hell, you’re funnier than most people in the world :)

-Erin and Ashley. You girls are freaking amazing. Everything you do. Erin with your film work, oy I just love you. :D and Ashley…you’re just the bees knees!!! Hehe. I love you girls. I know one day, when I move to LA we are going to have a road trip and have slumber parties and we’ll play with makeup and have pillow fights and prank call steven and vic :)

-Justin. My asian friend. Heh. You’ve been just one of the best contacts. You’re always so honest in your photography. And lets face it, you’re just awesome. Who else gives asian hugs? No one. Not like you. Hahaa

-Jenni. You were one of my first favourite on flickr. :) I think the first picture I saw of yours was “To Flickr with love”. I knew I had to follow you from what I saw. You’ve been the biggest inspiration here. Your art is just perfection, and you’re so natural at it. It looks like just another part of you. I’m completely envious of your ability to show so much in a photograph. From the simplest photographs to the most complex, I’m always amazed. Whenever I find myself in an idea slump I always find myself looking through all your photos and each time I’m amazed.

-Michelle. You’re my lovely, and I miss out note battles :)) you know you mean a lot. ♥♥

-Maite. Aw, maite mouse :) you’re like the cool aunt who buys me beer and sneaks me into bars. I look up to you. And your epic paleness ;-) Love you. Xoxo

-Carrie. You’re like the cool sister-in-law who drinks the beer with me Maite bought and dances in the club. You’re just wonderful. YOU’RE an angel sent down to make the world brighter ;-) I love you. xoxo
