I've been meaning to tell you
I've got this feelin' that won't subside
I look at you and I fantasize
You're mine tonight
Now I've got you in my sights
With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I
I wanna hold you so hear me out
I wanna show you what love's all about
Darlin' tonight
Now I've got you in my sights
With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I
I've got hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With those hungry eyes
Now did I take you by surprise
I need you to see
This love was meant to be
[SOLO]
I've got hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I
I've got hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With those hungry eyes
Now did I take you by surprise
With my hungry eyes
I need...
Hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With my hungry eyes
Damn you Zelie, now I have to think of another 10 Random Things!!
1) The only animal in Pet stores that I would not own is a Ferret. I was attacked by a couple of male ones when I was 6 years old (family friends had four sons who thought it was funny to lock me in the shead with thier hunting Ferrets) and even now I don't trust them! They are cute, I understand why some people love them and I will be nice to your pet Ferret - THROUGH the cage!
2) I love Glee. I don't admit it to everyone, but I was in show choir during my year in a USA high school. We has blue sequined dresses, shiny tights and black tap shoes, mmmmmmm 1998 Iowa fashion!
3) I am terrified at the idea of making money off my photography. Its something I need to start thinking about to make back some of the money I spend on Camera and Computer equipment!
4) If I could live my life in a green forest surrounded by love, music and friends I would be the happiest girl in the world.
5) I have a temper. One that flares up instantaneously yet fades quickly, for the most part anyway. I dont hold grudges but fuck me over and I may not be able to forgive and forget.
6) I am in love with the American Apparell Bandeu Dress. I have bought three in the last year and now have Black, Teal and Forest Green. Im wearing the Teal one in this shot 3>
7) I have the biggest thighs in the world! OMG I used to think I just had a fat arse but now i realize its my legs, damn things.
8) I love Kiwi accents. I know that Australians are meant to hate everything New Zealand but it is the cutest way of talking, I used to pay my friend Erin to say "Six" and "Beer" when we were drunk cause it always makes me laugh :)
9) Some songs always make me cry, not because they are so beautiful or special it just seams like certain lines make me tear up. "And I can't remember if I cried when I heard about his widowed bride. But something touched me deep inside the day the music died"
10) I have been engaged for over a year and I still think that I dont want a ceremony.
Stunning magical celebration party = yes
Pressure-filled old-fashioned ceremony = no.

Graba noche y día, grillos y canarios
Martillos, turbinas, ladridos, chubascos
Y la voz tan tierna, de mi bien amado
Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto
Me ha dado el sonido, y el abecedario
Con el las palabras, que pienso y declaro
Madre, amigo, hermano y luz alumbrando

Please give me your feedback as to whether you prefer this version or the other. I used a vintage photo action in CS2 and followed that with some curves adjustments.

Observatory Avenue terminates in the heart of Ault Park - the fourth largest park in Cincinnati with its 223.949 acres.
Providing picnic facilities, nature trails, and children's play areas, Ault Park adds to its attractions with a splendid Pavilion and lookout point and beautiful gardens.
The Pavilion, dedicated in 1930 with ceremonies arranged by the Mount Lookout Civic Club and other organizations in Cincinnati's East End, has an entrance consisting of a broad, double flight of steps, between which flows a water cascade. At the top of the steps you see the Pavilion's artistic columns outlined against the sky. From the Lookout on the Pavilion roof you can enjoy a 360 degree view - many miles of changing vistas in all directions. You can spot, also, from the Lookout, the Little Miami River flowing in its broad valley where once flowed the Ohio River itself in the pre-glacial age. Ault Park, like Alms, was once a vineyard area.
Ault Park is named in memory of Ida May Ault and Levi Addison Ault, her husband, a former Park Commissioner who was prominently active in Cincinnati Parks development. The initial 142-acre tract in 1911 and 9 subsequent acquisitions were gifts of the Aults to the City of Cincinnati. Two other fractional-acreage tracts were given by W.E. Harmon and Paul C. Kunkel and others.
A Manila tambol aparador / armoire
Estimate: PHP 1,200,000 - 1,300,000
2nd Quarter, 19th century
Manila
Narra and kamagong wood, bone, kamagong and lanite inlays, silver mounts
196 x 125 x 51.5 cm (77 x 49 x 20 in)
Kamagong wood was very scarce and expensive even over 170 years ago. Artisans would combine it with narra wood not only for those restrictive reasons but also to create an attractive and contrasting color effect. Originally made in Manila, this style subsequently spawned several variations – from Bulacan and Ilocos in the north to Laguna in the south – each with vernacular modifications. However, only the wealthiest who could afford such luxury furniture had them in their homes.
Classical Greek, Roman and Egyptian motifs are clearly evident, aside from the contrasting wood color of the dark kamagong frame and honey-brown narra centers that became de rigueur again in the early 19th century. The top frieze is inlaid on three sides, with scrolling leaves and flowers centering a large honeysuckle flower. The effect of using big-sized and light brown-colored lanite inlays against dark kamagong background is reminiscent of the oyster veneer, a decorative technique popular in England in the 17th century. The half-round pilaster columns, inlaid border inlays on the doors, the large foliated flower on the beaded apron, and the lotiform feet have been masterly executed. Opening the doors with turned kamagong pulls with silver centers and a spade-shaped silver escutcheon reveals four shelves and four drawers with knob pulls. This type of aparador remains scarce and highly desirable.

Matthew 6:25-34 (King James Version)
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Will: Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.? That's a tough one, but I'll take a shot. Say I'm working at N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people I never met, never had no problem with, get killed. Now the politicians are sayin', "Oh, send in the Marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number got called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes back to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile, he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And, of course, the oil companies used the skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them, but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. And they're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, of course, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and fuckin' play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So now my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's got to walk to the fuckin' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starvin', 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat, the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. I figure fuck it, while I'm at it why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president....

This is Rod, whom I met manning the Hat Point fire tower. Rod is originally from the Seattle area, where he is a stage director. We chatted for nearly an hour, as he happened to be an avid medium format / Canon SLR shooter. In fact, he had a 20D with the 100-400 attached under his desk. This Summer (2008), was Rod's 16th season doing fire lookout for the NPS, a diversion which he's been doing since 1969. He also really enjoys stage photography and knows a number of pros around the north-west United States. He was staying in a cabin a few miles back from the tower. Rod was a pleasure to talk to and was quite an interesting fellow. You can visit his website at www.fineandperformingartsphotography.com/

Please forgive me for the following tantrum and indulge me just this once. It's not often I have a rant on flickr.
I get sick and tired of "proper" wildlife photographers having a go at those of us who choose to photograph in a zoo. To suggest that all the animals pose nicely and make photographing them a doddle, with no challenge or skill involved whatsoever, is misleading, ignorant and unfair. There is always skill involved in capturing any animal, whatever its surroundings may be, and other zoo photographers will vouch for the fact that there are certain challenges that a wild environment does not present, such as reflection, glare, and enclosure design.
If a photo is nice, and you get something out of it, does it matter what the story behind it is? Sure, a tale about being charged by a silverback or nearly stampeded to death by a herd of pissed off elephants is maybe a tad more exciting than "I waited for over an hour just to get this shot" (see above) but the bottom line is a good photo is a good photo is a good photo. I suspect that much of the disdain directed at zoo photographers is driven by a disapproval of zoos in general, which has nothing whatsoever to do with photography now does it?
Just for the record, I highly, highly respect those who are lucky enough to photograph animals in their natural envornment. I'm deeply envious of their skill and their opportunity. But why must certain elitists take the pleasure out of this hobby for those of us without the same privilege as them? Please don't tell me that I've got it easy or that there is no skill involved when I'm damn proud of the images I produce and the time and effort I put into them. Your superior and dismissive attitude really is unwelcome and ugly.

05/15/2010:
My son and I were at the campground all day yesterday with our cub scout pack, and by the time we got home, got showered and unpacked, I was too tired to go through pictures.
This was only the 2nd photo I took that day, but one of my favorites since it perfectly captured how the rest of day went. I remember when I used to have that much energy, the kind that lasted all day long without the need for caffeine or energy drinks.

View Large On Black - This was taken a couple years ago here in Dallas at the rookery on the UT Southwest Medical School campus close to downtown. Hundreds, if not thousands of birds come back every spring to do their genetic duty, squabble, raise their young and smell the place up. Pretty amazing to see really... but it does get kind of RIPE toward the end of the season. Judging from the size of the stick, I'm not sure if this guy was building a nest... or a log cabin.
Having spent a great deal of time down here the last few years I've got a ton of nest building egret images so I was trying for something different in the processing here.... Something that would lend itself to sort of a soft, dreamy feeling. Something other than just another picture of an egret w/ a stick!

The photo of the 1934 Chevy truck pictured on the right was taken by my wife's brother, Lem, in 1950. It was backed up to what was to become the foundation of another chicken house, which they built themselves on their poultry farm in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts, a family farm which, at its peak, worked 10,000 chickens. In those days, their chickens were free-range (what we refer to today as "organic"), except in the winter time, when they were kept warm and comfy in the houses. By the way, my wife Sammy learned to drive this old truck when she was only seven years old (that was in 1942). She had to. All four members of the family (#s 5 and 6 weren't born yet) had to chip in and share the work, and when it came time to do the haying, she was propped up, standing behind the steering wheel with a few burlap sacks stuffed with hay piled on the seat behind her for support, as she followed along with her father and older brother, Lem, while they pitched the mowed hay into the truck bed. She also often drove the truck while dragging a feeder behind her through the fields during the summer time when many of the chickens were roaming free. The "retired" truck in the left photo is not the same truck, though it is the same year and make. I converted it to B&W from a color image that Lem sent me.
I've put together a set called Our Life Story depicting our life together over the past half century and containing over 180 images and descriptions which, for the most part, are in chronological order. Check it out and tell me what you think of it. Here's a sample page of a loose leaf book I've put together using the images and descriptions included in this set.
Though it looks small, George Mason's home is quite spacious inside. One of my favourite features was the beautiful center passage or hallway; the front and back doors are, as was common in this style of home, directly across from each other. When both doors were opened, not only was the broad center hallway between the doors cooled, fresh, cool air circulated through the other rooms in the house as well. Functionality aside, though, it is a lovely thing, the main hall.
By the way, Mason, his architect, and his groundsmen did a divine job of designing the home in coordination with the grounds. For one thing, the house was meant to stand alone, with no mature trees growing near it; according to the website, "Mason meant it to be seen standing isolated in space". The black-heart cherry tree-lined drive lead your eyes to the home along a twelve-foot-wide carriage drive; the Palladian portico you see is also twelve feet wide, as is Gunston Hall's aforementioned center passage. The rear, riverfront portico is twelve feet wide, as is the gravel path through the center of the rear garden leading toward the south and the Potomac river. The effect is quite beautiful.
The small building you see on the left side of the frame is the kitchen. The location was interesting to me, because to get to the dining room, slaves would bring the food into the hallway from the kitchen yard (there is a door and hallway leading from the center passage to the kitchen yard), past the Mr. and Mrs. Mason's bedroom on one side and the informal family dining/sitting room on the other, across the great hall, and into the dining room. Weird.
Tomorrow is the 13th birthday of my daughter.
The picture on this card is taken by my ex-husband and her father 13 years ago, (it's me being pregnant)
we used it on her birth announcement.
I am not sure if I will have the time to shoot a selfie tomorrow.
But for now I am going to use this shot for the invitations I have to send.
Saterday will be the big party for family and friends.

Patricia CORI : Bevor wir euch verlassen
Botschaft des Wale und Delfine an die Menscheit - - AMRA Verlag, 2013
Patricia Cori : Before We Leave You
Messages from the Great Whales and the Dolphin Beings - - 2011, North Atlantic Books, Berkeley, California
Book Description:
What if whales and dolphins truly do have a superior intellect, as many believe, and can speak to the human race? What would their message be? In November 2008, gifted clairvoyant Patricia Cori was in Jordan teaching a workshop when a life-changing event occurred. A community of Cetaceans—“a choir of whales and dolphins,” as she describes it—interrupted her talk with a frantic plea for help. Cori was suddenly witness to a devastating scene of suffering, a communal grieving of scores of whales and dolphins “frenzied, lost, and dying.” This was the first of several terrifying calls for help, all of which were immediately followed by mass suicide events as these majestic creatures collectively chose to leave us and our planet.
These troubling incidents evolved into the stream of messages for humanity that Cori reveals in this extremely timely work. The whales and dolphins present their deep understanding of our urgent global situation, calling for the human race to restore balance to our ecosystems—especially our dying oceans. For the first time, we read the communications of the Cetaceans and their story of devotion and celebration of life on the Great Planet Earth. We are also given a glimpse of their role in the unfolding of galactic events throughout our solar system, and the message is clear: We must wake up and realize that our continued abuse of the environment is altering the course of Gaia’s progression to the next dimension. Without the whale and dolphin song—without these musicians who hold the oceans in balance—we risk our advancement through the ascension process for which our entire solar system is destined. Before We Leave You is a roadmap to that higher future and a pathway to global transformation.
