Once upon a time, three little girls lived in a cottage in the middle of the woods while their parents went on a business trip.
Goldilocks, Whiteylocks and Hazelocks.
You have most probably read about Goldilocks's story before, but have you heard of what happens next?
After Goldilocks fled from the home of the 3 bears, she was angry and humiliated, being the spoiled little girl she was, she felt that she had done no wrong. She vowed to get them back somehow, some day.
One early morning, Goldilock's youngest sister Hazelocks barged into her room excitedly announcing that a baby bear was in their kitchen. Hazelocks had medium length brown hair, she was tomboyish and did not act like a proper lady, she also had certain strange sadistic habits and was fascinated with torturing insects.
Goldilocks was delighted when she rushed to the kitchen and saw the familiar bear, although it had messed up the kitchen and was even stealing oatmeal from one of their bowls. Hazelocks started jumping around in excitement, and Goldilocks started formulating a plan.
Goldilocks was vain, arrogant and as aforementioned, terribly spoiled. She wanted a fur coat, her parents had promised to buy her one but their business trip was taking forever. She came up with a stupid and cruel plan, she wanted to skin the bear and use the baby bear's fur for a coat.
She told her sister who happily agreed that she would help Goldilocks with any "bloody disgusting" jobs when they skinned the bear. She was as excited as her sister and because of her warped mind, she enjoyed seeing any living organism suffer, except for herself or her family members.
Just then, Goldilock's 2nd sister, Whiteylocks (the middle child) rushed in and in her gentle persuasive tone, tried to stop her sisters from such acts of cruelty against animals. Whiteylocks was demure, gentle, well-mannered and she loved animals. Like all sickeningly sweet fairy tale princesses, she was adored by everyone but her eldest sister who was jealous of her.
Ignoring Whiteylocks, Goldilocks and Hazelocks were still bent on carrying out their plans. Advancing towards the bear cub with a knife, Hazelocks had a murderous look in her eyes as she raised the sharp deadly object.
The bear cub sensed danger and started squealing and calling for its mother in its own bear-speak that none of the three girls understood.
Just then, the girls heard a growl and charging with miraculous speed for an animal so large, the mother bear jumped through the window and continued growling menacingly at the three girls while protectively defending her baby cub.
She recognized Goldilocks as the intruder to her home and roared with anger, firstly, she had stolen their food, ruined their furniture and slept in her baby's bed and now, she wanted to hurt her baby.
Goldilocks and her sisters were already cornered, in her fury, the mother ripped Goldilocks apart and that sent her other 2 sisters screaming and crying, running for their lives. The mother bear turned to chase Hazelocks whom she had seen holding the knife and tore her into shreds. Whiteylocks being well read knew that there were 2 ways to escape a bear,
1. Climb a tree
2. Act dead
and since there was no tree in the house, she sprawled on the floor, trying to hold her breath and keep her calm, faking death. But the mother bear did not hurt her, she and her baby cub left the house which had been so clean a few minutes ago. (In comparison to it's current state the messed up kitchen would have been considered "clean")
Whiteylocks stared at her sister's dead bodies, or rather, what was left of them, and froze, her already semi-white hair turned whiter from shock into a pure white, her naturally pale skin paled further and her large eyes remained opened to the fullest, she couldn't stop shaking, she couldn't talk, she sat there in the house in the same position for days.
Eventually when the parents of the three girls returned, they were shocked to see the blood and the torn up bodies.
Whiteylocks was also dead. She sat in the same position, wrapping her arms around her own body. She had died from the lack of water and food.
And that was the sad end of the three little girls who lived in the cottage in the middle of the woods.

One that I recommend Viewing Large on Black for max impact.
Utah has some great star viewing thanks to low light pollution, here I got lucky and caught an Iridium Flare glinting off the sun smack dab in the middle of the incredibly bright Milky Way. Iridium Flares are produced when the sun catches the highly reflective surface of an Iridium telecommunications satellite.
It's possible to plan a shot like this by using an online predictive calculator such as available at Heavens-Above. Or you can just get incredibly lucky as I did here. ;-)))
Have a great weekend everyone!
Shot notes: Single frame, and how I learned my camera clock is waaaay off. Correcting for the time issue this flare was indeed predicted by Heavens-Above.

After a few posts from other parts of Brazil, I am continually drawn back to my favorite location there, Iguazu Falls. The name "Iguazu" comes from the Guarani or Tupi words y [ɨ], meaning "water", and ûasú [waˈsu], meaning "big". wiki That said, I'd be hard pressed to not call this place "land of the waterfalls" or "terra das cachoeiras".
This is a 6 shot vertical pano (w/reverse ND Grad) taken 10 mins. prior to and up stream from this post. With the nice light, I was really hoping this pano would turn out. You can see all of the mist, so I was kept busy wiping off the lens in between shots. I couldn't get Photoshop to stitch these together, so after numerous tries I went a different route and am very glad I was able to salvage it.
Thanks for looking!

So heres what happened.
Danbo had stayed up all night inspite of not sleeping well for many days before that. He was awake till 4:30 AM chatting with my friends in Manipal and had planned on going to the beach with me for capturing the Kaup lighthouse. So we left at 4:30AM with CB..
When we reached near the beach, the sun was still not up and hence he decided to wait for a little while at the bus stop... At around 5:30AM, he left for the beach and when he reached there,it felt as if the whole space was glowing white... The world around him looked bewitching and extremely beautiful... He found a hollow palm tree lying on the beach and decided to hop on it (with a little bit of my help, of course) to have a better view. He stood there for quite some time before he realised I was taking his photos from the back. :D :D :D
He was happy with this one the most so here am I, uploading this for you. Hope you like it.

Experimented with DoF, this one was interesting, the bigger flower was little away from my focus and smaller one was my PoF, and as always this piece of nature also has a great message for us, not every body is equal in this world, some are rich, some are poor, some have disabilities and some have rare abilities, but no matter who you are and how you are there is something special in everyone of us, everyone one of us are special in some way are the other. Never underestimate yourself, if you are not special to yourself then don't expect others to expect that you are special. Belief in yourself, you are special, no matter who you are. A couple weeks ago I organized a "glitter party," which was basically just a mass photoshoot involving lots of people, glitter, and a field. Unfortunately, the internet on my computer is down and has been down for about a week or so now. I can't seem to figure out how to get reconnected to the internet, neither can my brother. So my internet usage is reduced to whenever I can get on somebody else's computer. I don't like it at all.
You gave me courage to believe that all your goodness I will see and if it had not been for you standing on my side where would I be
If not for your goodness if not for your grace I don't know where I would be today if not for your kindness I never could say I'm still standing if not for your mercy if not for your love I most likely would have given up if not for your favor I never could say I'm still standing but by the grace of God
To you I lift my offering and set my heart on higher things for if it had not been for you standing on my side where would I be
I'm still standing I'm standing I'm still standing but by the grace of God

Dad playing the Wii. Which is very hilarious to me because Jeremy wants one SO bad but my dad refuses to buy him another video game system. We have 2 NES's, one SNES, one N64, 2 PS1's, 2 PS2's and a Game Cube. Plus we have the first Gameboy, and Jeremy personally (personally meaning he doesn't share them with the family, hah) has the first colour Gameboy, a flippy Gameboy, and 2 of the touchy pencil thingy Gameboys. And for each system we have over 20 games in addition to controlers, rumble packs, memory cards, all those accessories. Yeah, add it up. The boy is OBSESSED with video games. My dad is vehemently against buying him any more because that's all he seems to do anymore is play video games. So It was just really funny to me that my dad got sucked into playing the Wii at a friends house on New Years. Jeremy didn't come to the party obviously, because if he had my dad would not have touched the damn thing. And he had SO much fun playing it! It was fun to watch him. You can see he's sort of smiling here. :)

The river in shallows murmured and chattered,
In deep pools, sighing, swishing, and swirling.
The sun blazing down on great patches of gold.
The Gorse bushes popping, their seed pods exploding.
While the Broom gently swayed, wafting its perfume
On the delicate touch of the breeze from the river.
Nature could not have been kinder
That day, as we walked in its splendour.
We shyly held hands - it was our first meeting.
Then we sat on the grass in quiet conversation.
Long pauses, deep sighs, then trickles of words,
Nervous laughs, like the sounds of the river
As it flowed past our feet.
We turned to each other with lips slightly pouting,
Both of us nervous of that very first kiss.
Our lips barely touched, like a butterfly flutter,
Or was it a puff from the wind on the river?
Your sweet tiny face seemed mounted in gold,
Eyes open wide and Kingfisher blue.
New love, young love, needs time to mature,
But we drifted apart, then found love once again.
True love, mature love, but not with each other.
Yet still the Broom, its perfume heart stopping,
And the Golden Gorse goes on pleasing,
Down by the river, for other lovers walking,
Just as it did when we were so young.

Lutry, my favourite village (actually, it's the most beautiful of Switzerland - in my view), my favourite iron bridge, being populated by a couple in love, a mother with her three children (!!), and underneath neatly arranged a few ducks and water birds... All this gently decorated and framed with the last leaves of a large tree.
The small river is leading here into Lac Léman (Lake Leman or Lake Geneva) which again has EVERYTHING, sandy and pebbly beaches, benches, rocks and the most clear and wonderful (and often cold) water... - and NOW let me go back to my day dreams!:)

cuando pasabas con tu otoño a cuestas
mayo por mi ventana
y hacías señales con la luz
de las hojas finales
¿qué me querías decir mayo?

With the company of mister Nelson Bolinhas.
Despite the bad weather, we decided to shoot another sunrise, to remember how good it feels to wake up at 5:00 ...
The aim was to repeat the visit to the piers in Povoa de Santa Iria, but after an attack of thousands of mosquitoes we decided to look elsewhere, and we went to this place never after photographed.
The weather was bad, the colors and the sun didn't appeared and this was my last record already in the rain.
Bah...... should've worked a little harder to get rid of the line through the shot from the edge of the plate of glass. Didn't think about it while I was shooting it (I really need to leard to use the preview more). I like it alot, that one little thing is bugging me though..... gives me an excuse to play with fire again. ;)
Strobist stuff - Snooted flash frame right aimed at cube at 1/50th, snooted flash at background at 1/40th over the top of frame.
i think i love blue on a flower more than any other color. these have appeared around the neighborhood lately and i got a few decent shots, even though it was fairly breezy and i had no tripod.
this is the first image i've processed with a texture -- i like the way it turned out and it was easy and fun. i used max f. william's dol guldur texture from his layered textures set.

…Taken on a trip to Dow Gardens located in Midland Michigan. This place is so beautiful, and just wondering what it would look like on a blue sky sunny day already has me planning another trip back before summer is over. According to my brochure, the gardens cover 110 acres and include some of the finest horticultural displays in the Midwest. Due to time and the weather I missed a lot to, so that’s another reason to go back. I’ve included two links in case your interested, and the second link has a little clip of pictures that were taken from other flickr members.

Imagine, it is a serene moonlit night on a river.
The engine is switched off, and the boat is drifting along a gentle current. You are feeling content, happy and lying, face up on the deck of a small wooden country boat together with some of your very close friends. There is no light or lamp burning anywhere, every thing is blissfully quiet, and you can hear the low murmur of your friends voices and the little flip flap sound of the small waves against the hull of the boat. There is no cloud in the sky, whole world is awash in the soft dreamy moonlight and a gentle breeze is playing on your skin. The stars are coming out playfully one by one in the vast canopy of the sky over head and weaving enchantment with the moon beams.
It is going to be a full moon tonight on the Jamuna !

no te pares no te mates

Yerba Buena Island, San Francisco, May 2010
Taken just after sunrise on a beach just to the east of the Bay Bridge tunnel. This was my first time to Yerba Buena/Treasure Island to shoot photos, and I spent half an hour trying to figure out where to go/park. By the time I found a spot, the sun had already crested the East Bay hills, so I just did some long exposure sea shots.
A freighter was passing by when I was shooting the rocks, so I managed to catch it during one exposure. Thinking back, I probably should have shot a quick shutter speed shot of the ship and merged it with the long exposure of the water. Anyhow, I spotted some cool piers with the SF skyline in the background for my next return trip, so I chalk this expedition up as educational.
30 seconds, f/8.0, 8 stop ND w/ graduated ND for ship/sky.

John 8:32 is a blunt, to-the-point bottom line on why we need the truth. "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Some of us live like the truth will scare us to death or hurt too much. But it can't hurt nearly as much as avoiding the truth about yourself - the truth that continues to poison your relationships, limit your life, and bring you down. Someone may be your "mirror" that is irritating or painful to hear from. But God put those people in your life because He loves you too much to let you keep running from the truth that is costing you so much.
The Bible says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a friend sharpens the countenance of his friend." It may be that someone you might consider an enemy has said some things no one else would say to you about you. And while they mean to hurt you, there may be at least some mirror of truth in what they said.
The truth that might be painful never really goes away. Everywhere you go, you take you with you. God loves you too much to let you keep running, denying, and living a lie. So He's put someone in your life to hold up a mirror. Don't reject what the mirror is trying to show you. And don't blame the mirror - it's the message the mirror is trying to give you, not the messenger that's the issue.
Thank God for the mirror He's given you. The truth may be hard to face. It may mean opening up to someone who can really help you with it. It may mean removing a mask you've been hiding behind for a long time, but it's worth all that and more. Because it's the truth, and only the truth, that will finally set you free.
-Ron Hutchcraft

Although this shot has been my most popular high alpine photograph, I have never been happy with the processing of my original post. At the time I will admit I really had very little clue about what I was doing with post processing and fumbled it up in my opinion. From setting a poor white balance for the scene to my blending technique and managing dynamic range, I just didn’t know enough to due this photograph justice, so I decided to take another crack at it recently.
This time around I decided from the start to go with the full un-cropped version. It does center my foreground a little, but I found I really loved the beautiful reflection of the more colorful clouds in the lower right. From there I carefully processed each RAW file and then did a meticulous hand blend to try to maximize dynamic range. I paid a lot of attention in Photoshop to try to balance out the light for a more even exposure throughout the scene, despite the use of a filter.
The end result was an image I was much happier with, and one that I feel more accurately represented the scene that morning. I know that in the world of post processing there is a never ending learning curve, so sometimes it pays to go back and revisit an old image. That is one reason why I always keep my original RAW files around. I would love to get some feedback on this shot and see what you all think.
Thanks for viewing and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

A legend tells that in 1170 a rich merchant, Alberto (Besozzi family - Arolo), while he was sailing with his boat on the lake, a storm breaks over him. He trusted in S. Caterina (Alessandria) and decided to do penance if he survived the storm; so he avoid dead and once landed, he went to live alone in the place where now is the monastery. In 1195 Alberto stroke against the plague that hit the surroundings and, following the revelation of the angel, he made the "sacello" to be build like the one hosting the remains of S. Caterina on the Sinai. In 1205 when he died his corpse was buried in the chapel near S. Caterina.
The monastery was built after the miracle, so the supernatural help continued to draw his life. When in 600 some stones fell on Alberto's grave, destiny wanted them to stop a few cm from the soil and made them to pose quietly on the land years later. This event contributed to associate definitively the pray zone with the miracle. Since 1379, it was the territory of hermits, in 1670 belonged to the Carmelite friars and afterwards in the 2nd half of 1700 was cancelled. The province of Varese bought and financed long restorations, ended in 1986. Its structure was entitled to some Dominicans friars.

Introduction
The Small Tortoiseshell is one of our most-familiar butterflies, appearing in gardens throughout the British Isles. Unfortunately, this butterfly has suffered a worrying decline, especially in the south, over the last few years. This butterfly has always fluctuated in numbers, but the cause of the most-recent decline is not yet known, although various theories have been proposed. One is the increasing presence of a particular parasitic fly, Sturmia bella, due to global warming - this species being common on the continent. The fly lays its eggs on leaves of the foodplant, close to where larvae are feeding. The tiny eggs are then eaten whole by the larvae and the grubs that emerge feed on the insides of their host, avoiding the vital organs. A fly grub eventually kills its host and emerges from either the fully-grown larva or pupa before itself pupating. Although the fly attacks related species, such as the Peacock and Red Admiral, it is believed that the lifecycle of the Small Tortoiseshell is better-synchronised with that of the fly and it is therefore more prone to parasitism. This is one of our most widespread butterflies, occurring throughout the British Isles, including Orkney and Shetland.
Aglais urticae
This species was first defined in Linnaeus (1758) as shown here (type locality: Sweden).
Phenology
The adult butterflies can be seen at any time of the year, even on the last days of December or first days of January if the temperature is high enough to wake them from hibernation. However, adults normally emerge from hibernation at the end of March and start of April. There are typically 2 broods each year, except in the north, where there is usually only a single brood. Whether single or double-brooded, the butterfly is a familiar sight in late summer as it takes nectar to build up essential fats in preparation for hibernation.
Habitat
This butterfly can turn up almost anywhere, from city centres to mountain tops. As such, it is one of our most successful butterflies. It is most-often seen, however, where nettles grow in abundance, such as field margins. This butterfly is often encountered while hibernating in an outbuilding, such as a garage, shed or barn, where they may be found in the company of other individuals. Other hibernation sites include hollow trees and wood piles.
Larval Foodplants
The primary larval foodplants are Common Nettle (Urtica dioica) and Small Nettle (Urtica urens).
Nectar Sources
Adults feed primarily on Betony (Stachys officinalis), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), Carline Thistle (Carlina vulgaris), Dandelion (Taraxacum agg.), Devil's-bit Scabious (Succisa pratensis), Field Scabious (Knautia arvensis), Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea), Hawkweeds (Hieracium/Hypochoeris), Heather (Calluna vulgaris / Erica spp.), Hemp Agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum), Ivy (Hedera helix), Knapweeds (Centaurea spp.), Marjoram (Origanum vulgare), Primrose (Primula vulgaris), Privet (Ligustrum vulgare), Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea), Thistles (Cirsium spp. and Carduus spp.), Thyme (Thymus polytrichus) and Water Mint (Mentha aquatica).
Imago
The two sexes are almost identical in appearance, with the distinctive yellow and orange uppersides providing a contrast with the drab undersides that provide the butterfly a good deal of camouflage when hibernating.
In the afternoon, males set up territories, usually close to a nettle patch, where they rest of the foodplant or ground with their wings open, waiting for a passing female. When a female enters the territory, a most curious courtship begins. The male approaches the female from behind and starts to "drum" his antennae on the hindwings of the female, making a feint sound that is audible to the human ear. The female may fly a little distance, with the male following, where the process repeats. This can go on for several hours with the couple spending a good amount of time basking together. Eventually, usually in early evening, the female will lead the male into vegetation, often a nettle patch, and crawl between stems with the male following, where they eventually mate. They remain coupled until the following morning.
Aberrations
This species displays considerable variation in both the upperside ground colour and the familiar upperside pattern and markings.
Much work has been carried out in this species to discover how temperature shock in the late larval/ early pupal stage can affect the development of pigments in the imago. These experiments have assisted our understanding of how and when the pigments are 'mapped' in the Vanessid butterflies. The Small Tortoiseshell appears to be particularly sensitive to temperature shock, and this species has been widely bred in the past in the hope of producing extreme environmentally controlled aberrations such as ab. semi-ichnusoides.
Extreme shocks of either heat or cold during the last 24 hours of the larval stage and the first 48 hours of the pupal stage can disrupt the natural process of metamorphosis and inhibit the normal processes in which organic chemicals create the colouration of the wing scales.
The expression of aberration through temperature shock is a graduated process; one level of exposure creates ab. semi-ichnusoides, a little more fuses all three black blotches along the costa of the forewing to create ab. conjuncta, and the most extreme exposure produces an almost entirely melanic form known as ab. osborni. The conditions required to produce the latter forms are thought to be so extreme that they lie right on the very cusp of extremes of temperature that would be fatal to the larva or pupa. Consequently these forms are rare in captivity and extremely unlikely to be met with in the wild.
It is difficult to ascertain how frequently any of these aberration occur in the wild, however it is a rare event that exposes the newly formed pupa or transitional larva to the necessary conditions for metamorphosis to be disrupted in this way, and this is supported by the paucity of historical sightings of the extreme aberrations in the wild. That is not to say that the lesser of the aberrations do not occur however, and an ab. semi-ichnusoides presents a particularly striking sight when nectaring on a garden buddleia amongst typical individuals.
It has been speculated that severe late frosts could possibly cause instances of these aberrant forms, as well as a larva/pupa being exposed to particularly strong sunlight after having the normally sheltered pupation site disturbed in some manner.
Environmental influences are not the sole cause of aberration in this species however, and there are many genetic aberrations which the observer could encounter at any time. Occasionally the orange ground colour is replaced entirely by a pale whitish buff (ab. lutea), as well as various transitional shades leading to this. Similarly, sometimes the orange colour is replaced by a brownish-purple hue and this is known as ab. brunneoviolacea.
There are in excess of 105 named aberrations known to occur in Britain. Click here to see a full list of aberrations for this species.
ab. nigrita (Fickert)
On the forewings the two upper black costal spots are united to form a single black blotch. The twin discal spots are absent. Hindwings entirely black with no marginal lunules.
Ovum
The female is quite choosy about where she lays, which is not surprising since she lays her green eggs in large batches and needs to ensure that the location is just right for the developing larvae. Typical sites are nettle patches containing relatively-new growth, and that receive full sun. Eggs are laid on the underside of a nettle leaf, usually one near the top of the stem and at the edge of the nettle patch. The eggs are not laid in neat rows, but piled on top of one another. Egg batches can contain up to 80 eggs which take some time to lay - typically between 20 and 90 minutes. The egg stage lasts between 1 and 3 weeks, depending on the weather.
Larva
On emerging from their eggs, the larvae build a communal web, usually at the top of the nettle, from which they emerge to bask and feed. As the larvae grow, they move to new plants, building new webs along the way. This leaves a trail of webs, decorated with shed larval skins and droppings, that show the passing of time, and allows the patient observer to trace the larvae all the way back to the plant where the eggs were laid. The first experience that some people have of a Small Tortoiseshell is seeing these webs as they extend over stretches of nettle, with the larvae resting communally and quite visibly on the surface of the web, or feeding from nearby leaves.
Larvae have several techniques to avoid predation. When disturbed, a group of larvae will often jerk their bodies from side to side in unison, which must be a formidable sight to any predator. The larvae will also regurgitate green fluid and will, if necessary, curl up in a ball and drop to the ground. Larvae feed by both day and night and there are 4 moults in total.
Pupa
The larvae disperse as they become fully grown, and eventually wander off to find a suitable pupation site. The pupa is formed head down, attached to a stem or leaf by the cremaster. The colour of the pupa is quite variable, often having a beautiful metallic sheen. This stage lasts between 2 and 4 weeks, depending on temperature.

Conservation Status
Despite being a widespread and common species in certain areas, the declining fortunes of this butterfly, especially in the south, mean that this butterfly is a species of conservation concern.

Eppure il vento soffia ancora!!! Pierangelo Bertoli
The day following the expulsion, a demonstration took place in the front of the Ministère de la Crise du Logement to denounce the conditions of the police intervention. After what they had endured at night, it was a release for many people and spirits were high !

Edinburgh, Scotland
The Old Town of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has preserved its medieval plan and many Reformation-era buildings.
One end is closed by the castle and the main artery, the Royal Mile, actually made up of four distinct streets named Castlehill, the Lawnmarket, the High Street and the Canongate, leads away from it, down to the now-ruined Holyrood Abbey. Narrow closes (alleyways), often no more than a few feet wide, lead downhill on either side of the main spine in a herringbone pattern.
The topography for the city is known as "crag and tail" and was created during the last ice age when receding glaciers scored across the land pushing soft soil aside but being split by harder crags of volcanic rock. The hilltop crag was the earliest part of the city to develop, becoming fortified and eventually developing into the current Edinburgh Castle. The rest of the city grew slowly down the tail of land from the Castle Rock. This was an easily defended spot with marshland on the south and a loch, the Nor Loch, on the north. Access up the main road to the settlement was therefore restricted by means of various gates and a City Wall, of which only fragmentary sections remain (see Flodden Wall).
Due to the space restrictions imposed by the narrowness, the Old Town became home to some of the earliest "high rise" residential buildings. Multi-story dwellings were the norm from the 1500s onwards. During the 1700s the Old Town had a population of about 80,000 residents. However, in more modern times it had declined dramatically to just 4,000 residents. There are currently approximately 20,000 residents in the various parts of the Old Town. As the population was for a long time reluctant to build outside the defensive wall, the need for housing grew and hence the buildings became higher and higher.

This Wayside Shrine - in Austria called "Marterl" - is located in Obernberg, Tirol, Austria on the hiking trail to the Lake Obernbergersee. This Shrine should remind the pedestrian to make a quiet pray or put some flowers or a candle into the Shrine. The style, this "Marterl" is built, is typical for Tirol, Austria - Bayern, Germany and Alto Adige, Italy. In other parts of Austria they are built in another style. So this is very unique and beautiful to look at. Most of the "Marterlen" here in Tirol are in a very good condition and they are mostly filled with flowers or candles.
Shot was taken shortly before sunset - as you may see, the sunlight comes from left behind. It was a wonderful and magic moment for a shot. Luckily I had my camera with me...
Comments are very welcome... 8-)

This year, I had the chance, at the call of the deer, meet the animal to approach very difficult for the photographer in particular.
Indeed, the deer does not point out the muzzle at daybreak or dusk, when the light is very low, the more it exposes a very short time, has a very strong smell that it is difficult to deceive.
Not easy in these conditions to get good shots. Often, I returned empty-handed, but still I went back hoping to have a bit more luck.
I will return next of year, a little more seasoned, perhaps.

Hare ~ From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ~
"Jackrabbit", "Lepus", and "Leveret" For other uses, see Hare (disambiguation), Jackrabbit (disambiguation), Lepus (disambiguation) and Leveret (disambiguation).
Hares and jackrabbits are leporids belonging to the genus Lepus. Hares are classified into the same family as rabbits and are of similar size, form, and diet as rabbits. They are generally herbivorous, long-eared, and fast runners, and typically live solitarily or in pairs. Hare species are native to Africa, Eurasia, North America, and the Japanese archipelago.
Five leporid species with "hare" in their common names are not considered true hares: the hispid hare (Caprolagus hispidus), and four species known as red rock hares (comprising Pronolagus). Meanwhile, jackrabbits are hares rather than rabbits.
A hare less than one year old is called a leveret. The collective noun for a group of hares is a "drove"
Biology ~ Hares are swift animals: The European brown hare (Lepus europaeus) can run up to 56 km/h (35 mph). The five species of jackrabbit found in central and western North America are able to run at 64 km/h (40 mph), and can leap up to 3m (ten feet) at a time.
Normally a shy animal, the European brown hare changes its behavior in spring, when hares can be seen in daytime chasing one another; this appears to be competition between males to attain dominance (and hence more access to breeding females). During this spring frenzy, hares can be seen "boxing"; one hare striking another with its paws (probably the origin of the term "mad as a March hare"). For a long time, this had been thought to be intermale competition, but closer observation has revealed it is usually a female hitting a male to prevent copulation.
Differences from rabbits ~ Hares do not bear their young below ground in a burrow as do other leporids, but rather in a shallow depression or flattened nest of grass called a form. Young hares are adapted to the lack of physical protection, relative to that afforded by a burrow, by being born fully furred and with eyes open. They are hence precocial, and are able to fend for themselves soon after birth. By contrast, the related rabbits and cottontail rabbits are altricial, having young that are born blind and hairless.
All rabbits (except the cottontail rabbits) live underground in burrows or warrens, while hares (and cottontail rabbits) live in simple nests above the ground, and usually do not live in groups. Hares are generally larger than rabbits, with longer ears, and have black markings on their fur. Hares have not been domesticated, while rabbits are kept as house pets. The domestic pet known as the "Belgian hare" is a rabbit that has been selectively bred to resemble a hare.
Hares have jointed, or kinetic, skulls, unique among mammals. They have 48 chromosomes while rabbits have 44.
