Warm evening light brightens up the beautiful rows of trees along the Damse Vaart, near the town of Damme. The Damse Vaart is a canal initiated under Napoleon in 1810, to connect Bruges with Sluis in Zeeland. Completed in 1818, it is some 15 kms long. While long since economically obsolete, it offers some of the most picturesque spots in Flanders.

Laguna Colorada, además es el principal centro de nidificación y concentración de P. jamesi a nivel nacional y regional albergando alrededor del 50% de la población establecida (ROCHA, 1997).
En cuanto a otra avifauna es posible observar grandes concentraciones de especies de aves acuáticas del género
Anas, Recurvirostra andina, playeros como Calidris bairdii, Tringa flavipes y Phalaropus tricolor, entre los mas comunes, todos migratorios boreales. Además existen 40 especies de aves entre las que se destaca el Suri (Pterocnemia pennata) especie considerada altamente amenazada.
Por otra parte, debemos mencionar que en el área de influencia de Laguna Colorada se puede encontrar varias formaciones vegetales: matorral enano extremadamente xerofìtico mixto con especies de semidesierto, bofedales formados por matas y cojines en los causes de los ríos, arroyos y vertientes afluentes donde existen gramíneas amacolladas de crecimiento en semicírculos así como vegetación herbácea graminoidea y por último herbáceas de formas efímeras.

Nearing the summit of An Socach now and we have a fantastic view down into Glen Ey. This is a Glen I cycled up a couple of years ago and it's great seeing it from this perspectiv, with the Scottish Highlands shrouded in low cloud in the distance But come on, the summit is beckoning!
After a few test runs and weeks of chiropractic care on my back, it's finally time to start the climbing season with a climb up An Socach. An Socach (pronounced An S-Oh-Ack) is my 17th Munro and stands at 944 meters (3097 feet), and although not the longest of climbs parts of it are very steep.

Une plaque dans un mur de maison explique que, en chemin pour Rouen et au faît de sa gloire, Jeanne d'Arc y a passé la nuit. Le village et le château (aujourd'hui ferme bio !) occupent une éminence visible de loin.
