When buying snow peas look for thin tender pods that are vibrant with no seed enlargement. Fresh pods are turgid and shiny, not wilted.

Wash snow peas before storing in the refrigerator in a plastic bag. They will keep for one to two weeks.

These snow peas were found at Other Avenues market in San Francisco's Outer Sunset. They have a PLU of 4092 and were grown at Trina Perry farm in Richmond, CA.

I finally got Pea's eyes in, now we're just waiting on her clothes, eyelashes and body ^^

I've never had enough peas to freeze thanks to those pesky groundhogs around here. Finally this year I planted peas at my mom's and now I have some for the freezer. I don't want to freeze them in tiny containers and take up lots of space, so I decided to freeze them like I do raspberries & blueberries. I froze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and then put them in a bag. This way they're all frozen individually and I can measure out exactly how much I need from one large bag.

Interstate 5. Drove past it countless times; stopped only once.

Here's the proof.

The 44th World Pea shooting Championships took place on the green at Wictcham in Cambridgeshire on Saturday 12th July 2014. The sport that was originally confined to school playgrounds is a very simple affair.

The competition began as a way to raise funds for the village hall but proved so popular that it became an annual international event.

The sport as you can imagine isn’t rocket science. The shooters stand 12ft from a target (similar to a dart board) that is smeared with wet putty.

Only peas hitting the target are counted and depending on where the pea hits the putty you can be awarded 5,3 or 1 point.

As with any board sport accuracy, not the distance is the aim of this competition.

The contestants shoot their peas through a tube at the 12-inch target. And, as with any international sporting event, competition can be fierce and laser-guided shooters for enthusiasts are not uncommon.

For the first round competitors fire five peas at the circular target, the 16 highest scorers then progress to the knockout phase. Some experts favour putting all five peas in their mouth at the same time and then, by deft use of the tongue, firing them off in machine-gun fashion. However, in the knockout section, competitors fire alternately and so are forced to reload.

In the semi final and final, competitors shoot 10 peas alternatively.

In the women’s final local lass Michelle Berry Rachel Ross out gunned Rachel Ross whilst in the Men’s final a 39- year old father of two Rob Bresler, an environment consultant, out puffed Victor Kronig to win his third title in a row. Pea-fect domination of the sport!

I got about a total of twice this from the peas. Now they are dead.

Aw! My Tuesday night pea harvest is so cute!

It was important to me to include the blue ribbon in support of prostate cancer awareness, in addition to the peas and pink ribbon.

It is now just about a year since my business partner, Bob, received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, and I can say with certainty that I now know a hell of a lot more about cancer than I did a year ago at this time.

Pea Soup Andersen's is a restaurant chain in California that primarily serves travelers along U.S. Route 101 in Buellton since 1924. In 1928, the Andersens added a hotel and dining room to the cafe on their property which shifted the focus of Pea Soup Andersen's from being just a restaurant to a roadside attraction. With Buellton located along Highway 101, it made Pea Soup Andersen's a convenient stop for travelers heading between the Greater Los Angeles Area and the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the 1930s, their son Robert entered the business after graduating from Stanford University. He nicknamed himself "Pea Soup Andersen", which became the name of the restaurant and business in 1947. He established the tradition of billboards up and down the state of California. He also acquired the rights to a cartoon called "Little Known Occupations", which showed comical chefs splitting peas with a hammer and chisel, and turned them into the restaurant's mascots, "Hap-pea" and "Pea-wee".
