Mitsubishi A6M Zero and one of the 188 ships on 7th of December, 1941. My humble attempt to recreate the Pearl Harbour attacks in graphite. The Imperial Japanese Navy of 1941 were not suicide pilots, Kamakaze, contrary to popular beliefs, and they dived into the flaming inferno of these ships when they were in the point of no return. Pretty soon, this Mitsubishi and my earlier (drawing) Mustang engages in a bloodier though much less celebrated battle of Midway...

"In every drop of water, there is a story of life."
We have had so much rain the last couple of days (over 100 mm) that if it had come as much rainfall a cold January day, you could have woken up to 18 meters of snow.

ODC-Shadows
I hope this is ok, I wasn't sure if the shadow needed to be projected from the object or if a shadow on the object would be ok.
This is my favourite planter. I love that it has a face.
The Black Pearl lag in de Amsterdamse Coenhaven. Het grootste zeiljacht dat ooit in Nederland gebouwd is en het op één na grootste zeiljacht ter wereld. Meer volgt.
Amsterdam, Nederland
The Black Pearl was present in the Coenhaven in Amsterdam. It's the largest sailing yacht ever built in the Netherlands and the second largest sailing yacht in the world. More to come.

Pearl spotted owlet's are one of Southern Africa's smallest owls. They are 'earless' owls. They have mock eyes at the back of their heads. This will confuse the predator as to which way the owl is facing.
Many thanks for the faves, and comments, they are all very much appreciated.
Pearl Crescent Butterfly at Springton Manor Farm County Park.
These crescents appear to be much more numerous than I remember in previous years

My son thought it would be okay to take Pearl out with Cocoa without Cinnamon’s old harness if we both supervised them. It didn’t last long. I don’t want to risk losing my Pearl girl.
A Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary. Sadly these have been extinct in Sussex since 2013 despite a huge concerted effort made to maintain the fragile population by the Butterfly Conservation. In the remainder of the UK the species can be found in open habitats, rough grasslands with a mosaic of Bracken, and scrub and coastal under cliffs. This is where we were lucky to find isolated pockets of the butterfly in small sheltered combes and valleys on the Devon cliff tops. They were nectaring on bluebells and an assortment of spring flowers, flying low amongst the vegetation to avoid the blustery winds off the sea.

A Wonderful weekend to all ! : )
The Black Pearl in the storm this morning at New Brighton.
I heard the tide came up high enough to surround it last night so was pretty glad to see it in one piece.
OK. So it looks like snow. But I loved the effect I got with this texture and I'm happy thinking it looks like tiny bits of silver confetti at a New Year's Eve party. Or maybe...a little bit of that magic stardust.

Ashclyst Forest, Devon.
The best way to identify this butterfly from the common Small Pear-Bordered Frit is the 2 silver spots on the underside of the hindwing, thankfully these did.
Pearl Bank Apartments, Singapore
One of Singapore's finest brutalist icons, and once its tallest building, Pearl Bank is scheduled to be demolished in 2019 pending redevelopment of the site. It will be missed.
