A Penn Central U25B waits as a mixed freight passes on the far track. I photographed this scene on a foggy New Year's Eve on my Garden Railroad.

I always call this gelding PC. He's been around for many years.

Uploading herd from 2013. Some of these horses are still part of the band and trying to identify who's who.

PC U30B 2866 leads a Westbound Conrail freight at the station in Hornell, NY in August, 1977. This was my first visit to Hornell, and the action was non-stop between the CR and D&H trains. I was shooting Kodacolor print film with the old Graphlex camera. Quality is not the best, but you certainly can't get anything like this today, so I appreciate the images I have. The 2nd unit is the only GP35 that I am aware of to wear the Reading green scheme that was on the Reading GP39-2's and GP40-2's.

A westbound PC freight at the ever popular Wayne Ave. in Dayton, OH. U33B 2921, U23B 2741, and GP35 2302 swing off of the line to Xenia into Dayton. 3/25/73. George A. McKay photo. CWC Slide Collection.

I got nothing on this weeks SNS, no location and no photographer to credit. I barely have a legible date, looks like May 1975 on the faded Kodak date stamp. Whoever did it wherever it was deserves kudos. 6423 leads 6343 in this fine view, Chuck Schwesinger collection. As Todd mentions below this is New Brighton PA by Walter Schopp

With no moving parts on the pc now days, the only way to know it is running is the power light.

My new PC has built in disco lights. Not worked out how to disable this feature yet!

Cutting across the Ontario countryside, Penn Central 3123 with Mechanicsville NY to Chicago IL train BM7 rolls through the superelevated curve at mile 210.4 on the PC's Canada Division Mainline. The train will re-enter the U.S. via the Detroit River Tunnel to Detroit. Off to the right, the old Burro crane sits on the branchline to Amherstburg. None of this exists today.

Less than two years later, the 'Ivory Tower' sports a sign displaying the green and white logo of the Penn Central. Two railroads later and the office building at Conway stands today, serving basically the same purpose as it did in the 70s.

With an E8 unit that is cleaner than the rest of the train (not unusual which isn't saying much), here is PC train #53 crossing the B&O's CT&V line at McKinley Tower in Canton Ohio in April 1970. This was just about 1 year before Amtrak took over. Growing up in that part of Ohio, this was about the only passenger train I would ever see. The important trains all ran at night through here. It had been primarily a mail train but here is cut back to just 3 cars. McKinley Tower is named after the street next to it which is named after the 25th President who lived in Canton until he was assassinated. McKinley Tower was mostly a friendly place for us to visit and wa frequent stop on afternoon cruises around town. this post will start a little mini E unit them for the next several days.

Norfolk Southern's Penn Central Heritage EMD SD70ACe #1073 leads westbound mixed freight 17G through the "S" Curve at Feasterville, PA on former Penn Central trackage. This line's electrified past is still evident in the catenary poles still lining the ROW, most here repurposed for high tension wires.

This is Matt and me. We both work for the company that makes these nifty little photobooks Apple is featuring in these PC/Mac ads all over TV.

(watch the Gift Exchange and Angel/Devil ads)

Well, a print out was lying around of the commercial and someone thought it was a pic of Matt and I. Hilarity ensues. Of course, Matt hates it because he's really the cool edgy web marketing SEO guy and I'm the nerdy operations one.
