Late season corn is ready for harvest as the Daily CP Wells local rushes west to home base. The small train is seen here scooting past the Armstrong, Minnesota elevator.

I love daffodils, and I think that their texture is still beautiful when they dry out.

This year, my family didn't celebrate the Chinese new year as my dear Mum sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. However, I took my brother and his wife for a walk in Chinatown and as you can see, the decorations are still up as there are 15 days for the celebrations.

Once a little further north and clear of the thunderstorms, the auroras got stronger. Seen going up to The Pas, a little after 1am.

In the midst of a cold snap GBRf's 92020 'Billy Stirling' is seen leading 5B26 from Edinburgh past the frosted fields of Hartwood. The coaching stock had arrived into Edinburgh from London earlier in the morning and it was being returned to Polmadie for servicing ahead of forming the next sleeper trains to London later on.

The towers above the treeline belong to the former Hartwood Hospital - a psychiatric hospital which opened in 1895 and closed in 1998. Despite being abandoned for decades and suffering major fires within that time the two towers remain standing as a prominent landmark.

Pellet loads behind a trio of current day ore motors roll past the now vacant Saginaw depot as they approach Coons siding on the way to Proctor.

A piece of railing from the Cog that was unearthed recently. A pretty neat piece of summit history.

I was in a discussion with a couple of people on Saturday about wagons going to Toton and whether the wagon repiar shops were still in operation. The conclusion was yes, but not necessarily the same place. Here 66761 runs through Toton with the 4L01 12:10 Masborough NGW GBRF to London Gateway GBRF. The brown remains above the loco are the old wagon workshops, I'm guessing now cleared in preparation for HS2.

It's the first time I've been to this south end of Toton Yard since 1988, and currently a little bit more uplifting than the lines of stored 60s further up. Also good to get a perspective on where passing trains are now stabled in passing.

UP LDG51 rumbles past Gold Bar Canyon along the Colorado River near Moab, Utah after departing the potash mine on its return trip up the Cane Creek Branch. The branch was built in 1962 to serve the newly opened potash mine and plant, then owned by Texas Gulf Sulphur. The Rio Grande contracted Morrison-Knudsen to build the entire branch including the 1.3-mile-long tunnel through Bootlegger Canyon.

Decided to take the shutter a little quicker here to 1/4 second versus 1 to seconds as I was capturing with the 6 Stop ND. To save time taking off the 6 Stop and placing the 4 Stop ND on, figured it was easier to increase the ISO to 400 and reduce the shutter speed to 1/4 second.

Liked the patterns in the rushing water here at this shutter speed.

Past memories - The ancient packhorse bridge, Slater's Bridge, in Little Langdale. Used by the slate miners in Tiberthwaite, it crosses the River Brathay just downstream of Little Langdale Tarn to connect the quarries with the hamlet of Little Langdale. HFF

In Alberta these past few November days.. minus the color and bugs, although, I did swallow a bug while biking and see a few lazy bees hanging around. I've been out kayaking again and it sure is cool hitting and breaking up the ice ; what a sound it makes. Of course I scare all the wildlife while doing that so I leave the cam at home. Since it is my Mom's birthday and she loved fishing with Dad I'm posting this one from another favorite stomping ground of mine. Taken with the 40D and my banged up 300mm which surprises me :) Happy Saturday!

In the past few days I have observed this clematis flower, which looks very worn out. I decided to take a picture of it at the weekend, especially as there was no wind in the early morning. This is essential for a focus stacking picture. At first I thought it had got another brown spot. But when I used my glasses I recognized an insect, probably a dung bee, or common drone fly, that had spent the night here and was still stiff from the morning chill. When I went to look for it again later, it was gone.

The owner of this property has several old cars in his yard. You can see them (as I post them) here www.flickr.com/photos/tags/20230619oldcarsinrochelle

Right now, I have posted two - there will be at least 2 more.

We had a chance to chat with the owner while we were taking pictures. He said he was planning on tearing this house down. We suggested he have the local fire department burn it down. They do that in these parts as a training exercise.

They spend several days setting up drills, burning parts of the building, etc. Then when they've used the place up, they burn it down for you. Saves the wrecking costs, and you make good friends with the firefighters!

That's always handy when you have to call them for help when you've "fallen and you can't get up." For those of you from outside the US or if you're too young to get this reference, here ya go. youtu.be/myfGdhZtKa4

BTW, the FD WILL come out and help if this happens. We had to call them once for just this situation.
