Both male and female gulf fritillaries possess certain defensive glands located on their abdomens that serve as a defense mechanism against predators, especially avian predators such as birds. When the butterflies sense danger in the area or are suddenly disturbed, these glands emit a distinct and obvious odor.

The basilica Sagrada Familia in Barcelona has two completely different facades: The Nativity Facade showing stories about Christ's birth with many happy elements and this Passion Facade related to crucifixion where all figures are grey and sad.

I couldn't hide the big crane completely - they are still building the top of the spires.

LE MACHAON

Dans nos contrées, le Machaon produit deux à trois générations par an. La femelle parcourt les milieux ouverts à la recherche de plantes appropriées, et y dépose ses œufs ronds isolément sur les feuilles. La chenille tout juste née consomme le chorion (l’enveloppe) de son œuf dans son intégralité avant de commencer à consommer sa plante-hôte. Sa croissance s’effectue en 3 à 6 semaines, au cours desquelles la chenille passe par 5 stades de développement. Après chaque mue, elle consomme intégralement son exuvie (l’ancienne peau qu’elle laisse derrière elle). Une fois leur développement terminé, elles quittent la plante pour trouver un support stable sur lequel elles pourront s’accrocher solidement. À l’instar des autres chenilles de Papilionidés, et des chenilles de Piéridés, la chenille du Machaon se tisse une petite ceinture de soie qui la maintient attachée à un support vertical (tige, branche…).
