SUNSET ~ Shelf-Cloud ~ Florida Everglades
Palm Beach County, Florida U.S.A. - 6/23/20
I'm going to stay on this 'great-night' for a while, if you don't
mind. I got far too many 'great-keepers' to let them pass and
get buried in the archives. It was the best night of the year
(so far) with its amazing sunset/weather-phenomena and the
shelf-cloud. Only the second shelf-cloud I've ever seen in South
Florida. So bear with me for a little while, and thanks for looking.
*[left-double-click for a closer-look - dramatic! - golden-horizon]
*[does it seem to be getting more intense...or is it just me!?! LOL]
*[Honestly, it was 'other-worldly' to shoot-this! A lot of fun!]
Having some processing fun, before a talk I am giving at my camera club. Probably too over the top for most :)

Normally I use Photoshop only for enhancing my images. I occasionally remove distracting stuff. But in this case, I couldn't resist to multiply the floors of this former Amsterdam post-office in Photoshop . Is it fake? Yes and no. Let's call it "my reality". Maybe in the future I will share the original image. Nothing better than a little controversy. So feel free to leave a comment.
Enjoy!

A big sea crashing into the cliffs at the entrance to Sydney's Botany Bay. The person standing on the top of the cliffs at the gives a sense of scale.

Well, that's it for my long series on the great shelf-cloud that
we witnessed in June of this year, during a worldwide pandemic.
Was hard to believe that after 'this-shot' above, my first photo,
it would turn into the most amazing extreme-weather shoot
of my life. Incredible to see. Thanks for looking - End Series

Painted farm shed in country SA (2 of 3).
A real beauty and such an eye catcher - even though it was a gray day! More than a match for any painted silo!

Well I had chosen to shoot over the top of trees but changed my mind. 3 objects which have very different tops, and material.
also very funny ... our group would not let me post so I have had to make some temporary changes ! LOL!
As the sun starts to rise, the streets and walkways glisten after being hosed down, and the sky breaks into a rainbow of colours. I tried to capture the flamboyant atmosphere of Las Vegas in this edit.

Just thought this one was fun sticking up over the trees and very large shrubs.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)

Boat-tailed Grackles are large, lanky songbirds with rounded crowns, long legs, and fairly long, pointed bills. Males have very long tails that make up almost half their body length and they typically hold them folded in a V-shape, like the keel of a boat.
The glossy blue-black males are hard to miss as they haul their ridiculously long tails around or display them from marsh grasses or trees. They are so common Everglades guides nicknamed them swamp rats! They are all over the Everglades! Fun to observe.

Those of you who have known me since my early Flickr days know that I am a bit of a collector.
OKAY, I confess I am a BIG TIME collector of all things pretty.
I have quite an extensive collection of beaded evening bags, mostly from the 1920's and 1930's and they hang off anything they can be hung off.
Just in case they weren't sparkly enough, I had to add more of my vintage jewellery.
Honestly going into my bedroom on a sunny day, one has to wear sunglasses as there are prisms of light flashing every where!!!
LOOKS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS IN THE LARGER SIZES

Ponce de Leon claimed Florida for Spain in 1513. (Christopher Columbus discovered North America in 1492 but actually landed in the Bahamas). Other Spanish explorers later found gold and silver in Mexico and Peru. The treasure was sent back to Spain in ships sailing in the Gulf Stream. Spanish settlements needed to be built in Florida to protect the Spanish Treasure fleets. King Phillip II of Spain sent Pedro Menendez to settle in Florida and drive out French garrisons recently established there. In September 1565, Pedro Menendez with 700 soldiers and colonists landed 'here' and founded St. Augustine making it the oldest continually occupied European settlement in North America ~ Saint Augustine Inlet

I'm not sure what happened here - I was setting up the camera for reflections of the sunset on the water when this fellow walked into the scene. I grabbed a few quick shots before he left and wound up with these heavily saturated colors. It's over the top but I liked the color transition of the bluer water in the foreground to the orange in the background.
