I was up in Perthshire this morning and these trees caught my eye - the colours were absolutely stunning.

The famous St. Michael de Rupe Church, Brentor, West Devon which sits on top of a granite Tor on the western edge of Dartmoor.

I've been meaning to get a shot of this landmark for over two years now and finally managed it despite the icy wind nearly blowing me over!!

To look at this one of Norway's most famous waterfalls at the top cliff point, you have to drive on the old road, making 125 sharp turns.

And sleeves of the waterfall twisting down through the rocks on the background of swirling mists above the gorges of the Mabodalen ridge.

Там, где петляют водопады

* * *

This is a view from one of the Latvia's most shallow lakes, Kanieris, bird paradise.

We went to its bird watching tower over the scenic wooden boardwalk, and on the way saw swans, ducks, and wagtails, white herons and geese, but none of them close enough to get a good photo.

The cities and towns were far away, so the only sounds was rustle of reeds in wind, light splashes of low waves, and calls, songs and chit-chat of birds. In the place where the reeds completely surrounded the path, it felt as if we would be surrounded by noisy students of a bird university during lunch break. Sounds came from all around, but birds were masterfully hiding from us. Only when we stopped for few minutes motionless, some bunch of pretty tiny yellow birds landed down on the path, but while I tried to get my camera and capture some group portrait, they realized they were not alone and left... So I can share only story about them and photo of reeds where they were hiding. :-)

I found this little waterfall on the website ctwaterfalls.com. Since where I live in N Indiana is so flat, there really isn't much in the way of waterfalls to photograph, so visiting Connecticut gives me the chance to indulge in one of my favorite subjects to photograph. On this morning, however, I forgot my tripod! So, I used my sweatshirt instead to prop my camera on for this shot. And despite the title, no showers were taken by me at this location.

The Torcal of Antequera Natural Park in Spain, is an amazing place totally sculptured by the water and wind during thousand of years, forming all this corridors and strange forms that sometimes it can become a real labyrinth.

There are many ways to describe rain and this image tells why Singaporean calls it pouring!! The approaching storm clouds simply "dumps" its water onto that small area. If you are among those under, only one word to describe you after - drenched!

I left Bryce Canyon and took the 45 min drive over to Kodachrome Basin State Park, in Escalante, Utah. The close proximity of this region allowed me to enjoy another afternoon in Bryce Canyon while also allowing me plenty of time to scout this area for the evenings composition. This spot caught my eye so I pulled out a folding chair and my iPad to read more from my book " Guide to The National Parks of the Southwest" which I had downloaded prior to the trip. As I sat here to relax, a wash of peaceful calm surrounded me and I enjoyed myself just sitting there in the present, not thinking at all about the past or the future, I watched the high clouds drift to and fro in the sky, and waited to see if some of them would grace my location and compliment the scene. I wasn't running around like I always do, knowing that I still had another day for exploration here.

This rift is a space in time that is depicted by a red strip of mother earth called the Entrada Layer. The Entrada was formed from deposits that were laid down during the mid-to-late Jurassic Period, approximately 140 to 180 milllion years ago. This thin strip took approx. 10 million years to create. It is primarily composed of fine grained sandstone along with gypsum, shale, quartz and clay. This formation is one of the most scenic in the park due to its color. It also forms the ubiquitous “slickrock” of southern Utah. Most of the sedimentary pipes found within the park occur in this formation. :)

Again, thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great evening everybody!! :)
