An early August morning provided both clouds and sky color to enhance the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park.
Bryce Canyon is located in the state of Utah and is relatively close to Zion National Park. It was designated a national park during 1928. At 56 square miles, is smaller than many other parks, but is a gem with its countless colorful hoodoos. Its elevation is somewhat high ranging from 6,600 ft to 9,100 feet which causes it to have a cool climate. It was a refreshing mid-50s F the August morning we took this photo.

-This Saturday was my first time i went for Ski for this year.
-The outside temperature was -11 degrees Celcious.
-This is the road Kastoria - Florina near to Pisoderi Ski-run.
These two fledgling Burrowing Owls were practicing their concealment skills along Joe Overstreet Road . I think they need to work on it a little more . Mom was only two fence post down keeping a close watch.
In Florida, burrowing owls mainly eat insects, especially grasshoppers and beetles. They can be of special benefit in urban settings since they also consume roaches and mole crickets. Other important foods are small lizards, frogs, snakes, birds, and rodents.
Eggs are primarily laid in March but nesting can occur from October through May. The female lays six to eight eggs over a one-week period. She will incubate the eggs for 21 to 28 days.
At hatching, the young owls are covered with white downy feathers and have their eyes closed. They emerge from the burrow when they are 2 weeks old. At 4 weeks, they are learning to fly but cannot fly well until 6 weeks old. They remain with their parents until they are 12 weeks old.
These two could fly and I observe one of them fly up to the top of a fence post but, I would not call it exactly graceful flight. (smile)
The Xwejni Saltpans on Gozo’s northern coast just outside the resort of Marsalforn are still used today for the collection of sea salt. Hewn out of the coastal rock, the saltpans were part of the island’s first industry. Centuries ago salt was used as a bartering currency for consumables not available locally. Nowadays, salt collected from the Xwejni Saltpans can be found in most supermarkets on the Maltese Islands www.gettyimages.fr/detail/photo/salt-pans-gozo-malta-imag...

..But thats not unusual
But the way that Im feeling
Is becoming usual
I guess you could say
The clouds are moving away
Away from your days
And into mine
Now its raining inside
Its kind of a shame
And its getting to me
A happy man
Why should you want to
Waste all my time
The world is yours
But I am mine.."

This is another capture from Malibu Beach last week. There haven't been many dramatic skies lately and each time I revisit this group, I like the shots more and more. The sky was full of heavy clouds, orange and red tones and just enough wind to move things along a bit. Fog swept in from the East by the mountains and pushed out towards the sea until just after the sun finally set.
It seems like half the time I leave to shoot a nice, interesting sunset, the clouds transform into haze by the time I arrive at the destination. Given the roughly hour minimum drive to get to the closer parts of the Pacific Ocean, it's been frustrating to sit in LA rush hour traffic only to arrive to an empty sky. I've definitely gotten better at looking at weather trends and patterns now that I spend so much time shooting, but I still have a lot of room for improvement in that regard. There's still so many places along the coastline I've wanted to explore but the distance and unpredictable LA traffic has kept me mainly in a 75 minute radius from Hollywood.

This old boat, titled "Eagle" out of Minneapolis, MN, about 40 feet long, rests on a Lake Superior beach just outside Cornucopia, Wisconsin. A popular tourist attraction, the dilapidated boat also holds many memories for local residents.
Members of the Wisconsin Conservation Corps (WCC) from Bayfield County were asked by the Town of Bell to restore and protect three old fishing boats. These boats were part of a commercial fleet that employed 22 fisherman around Cornucopia.

Another courting Pelican shot. I've taken a lot of photos of them the last couple of days as they rally after the huge storm! Should be a lot of birds nesting again soon. Hopefully the weather we get over the weekend isn't as bad and they have a chance to establish the rookery again.
Headed to El Matador Beach since it seemed like it could be an interesting place. Took about an hour and a half to get to, was full of people, raining and the light disappeared quickly and well worth the trip.

HEAD towards the green fields outside. Watch the goats chewing the grass. What is the meaning of life? Life isn't about getting to the end. Goats know this. You should know too. Goats are wise. Goats are cute. Listen to them! This is the message. Love goats, love the Internet!

Near the city is hard to find a landscape that does not have to see the traces of human activity. Crop fields provide a nice foreground to memorialize the cultural landscape. Morning mist adds a mysterious atmosphere. Europe, Estonia, 2012 August
