The Obersee in the Bielefeld area is an artificial lake outside the city, a lovely place for walking, biking, or just to relax.
It was a cold windy day yesterday when I saw this sculpture called "Still" by Rob Mullholland at St Fillans on Loch Earn, Scotland. Its locally called the Mirror Man.
We are like shells, beautiful and hard outside, but the most frail and true is well hidden within us.

made me feel an intruder.
This corner of nature offers an interesting flora, as well as a radiant show; here you can find the Ruscus Hypoglossum (spineless butcher's-broom) which is quite rare, but widespread here.
(Just out of curiosity, the Caesar's crown was made of it).
At the top left you can see the path, from which I "athletically" tumbled down to reach this spot.

Machu Picchu (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmatʃu ˈpiktʃu]) or Machu Pikchu ([ˈmɑtʃu ˈpixtʃu]), is a 15th-century Inca citadel situated on a mountain ridge 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level. It is located in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Machupicchu District in Peru, above the Sacred Valley, which is 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Cuzco and through which the Urubamba River flows.
Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often mistakenly referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas" (a title more accurately applied to Vilcabamba), it is the most familiar icon of Inca civilization. The Incas built the estate around 1450 but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was not known to the Spanish during the colonial period and remained unknown to the outside world until American historian Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention in 1911.
Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its three primary structures are the Inti Watana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Most of the outlying buildings have been reconstructed in order to give tourists a better idea of how they originally appeared. By 1976, thirty percent of Machu Picchu had been restored and restoration continues.
Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll.
AMSTERDAM, Light Festival - all living things emit energy. Trees do this too. WISP of the French collective Pitaya, makes this energy which are usually invisible, visible. The energy transition is visible through bundles of light. The trees along the canals of Amsterdam are proud as enlightened guardians while the light wisps of a dynamic light ballet forms. The magical celebration of the fragile and dynamic allure of nature can be seen from the water, where a magnificent reflection in the water. To the country guarded WISP the border between water and land.

Any evening shot from Stanley Park looking at the skyline of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is one of my favourite places. I spent a lot of time in this area growing up.

Kasteel de Haar is the largest castle of Holland and is located just outside Utrecht and a half an hour drive from Amsterdam. The oldest historical record of a building at the location of the current castle dates to 1391. In that year, the family De Haar received the castle and the surrounding lands. The current buildings, all built upon the original castle, date from 1892. De Haar has everything you expect from a castle; towers, turrets, moats, gates and suspension bridges. The castle is also home to many art objects. Next to the castle you can find a romantic chapel and beautiful parks and gardens. Without a doubt Kasteel de Haar is one of the most luxurious castles of Europe. Kasteel de Haar is located in a green area with well maintained parks and gardens and a beautiful, romantic chapel. It invites to long walks, picnics and even spontaneous marriage proposals. Let medieval times relive and visit Kasteel de Haar.
De Haar Castle, locally known as Kasteel de Haar, lies next to the village of Haarzuilens in the province of Utrecht in the Netherlands. De Haar Castle was founded in the 14th century on sediment deposits along a blind arm of the river Rhine. The castle is now surrounded by a large park.
We have been making numerous trips to Woodbridge Ecological Reserve (AKA Isenberg Crane Reserve) trying to capture a decent image of this skittish crane. This particular day proved to be a great photo day. The sun was in a perfect position and the birds were out and milling about. The birds were still quite a distance away but all the other elements were in place for us get a decent shot.
Photographed just outside the walled garden on the Llanachaeron estate (NT). Over 200 years old, Llanachaeron was self sufficient and the National Trust carry on maintaining the gardens and farm. The house was designed by John Nash in the 1790's.
A photo taken during our family tour of the South Island last month. Vivid turquoise water of the Hokitika River rushes through a magnificent granite gorge lined with native bush.
I was inspired today and thought I might do a new theme. We have plenty of snow right now and will for some time. Soooooo I thought I might combine one of my favorite childhood memories with the dreaded four letter word! Haha! I will be attempting a "Cabins in the Snow" album for this winter. We'll see how it works.
Thank you again to my followers for supporting me like you do with all your kind comments and faves. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have made Explore. :)

I have several versions of this place: fog, no fog, sunset and no sunset. For some reason I decided to go with sunset and fog..;)
Thanks everyone for helping me with my group problem. I realized I was in too many groups and just wanted to thin it out a little, only because I'm so anal..;) And, it sound like taping my toes together is the best advise after all.
Autumn is approaching us in the Nordic countries and with it comes the misty mornings. A shot from this morning just outside my hometown.

THE SWEETEST TABOO - SADE
FEAR/TEMOR
Standing by and letting me float free
you stand so close; I can taste your breath
my heart is racing, but my soul is slow
I am running to nowhere until I hit the wall
You play to me late into the night
you listen to me singing all day long
we hold each other so distantly
both scared to run to where we can't hide
let me closer into your arms
wrap me with love and tender kisses
walk out with me; tell me all you know
and dance me to the golden hour
I don't think it at all possible
to fall in love and remain as friends
so I let you walk alone on your reconfigured journey
it's the only way this will always end
I can write and re-write every tiny detail
but it will always play out just like this
we had a good run for all this time
but it could never be ended so simply with a lover's kiss
So you walk off like a cowboy into the sunset
and I'll drive alone along parallel lines
you take the right road, it's the right road for you
and I'll take what's left of the setting sun
The power lines above us are filled with energy
I can feel the tingling in my head
but they can't raise the flatness all around us
or erase the memories of the things we said
Fear is something that I learned from the age of seven,
do you remember that day, the day I drowned
I knew then what I'll always know
when something's lost, it can never be re-found
What you've got to do is create
your own sweet reality within your pure but burgeoning mind
nothing and no-one can take this from you
so you learn to be cruel just to be kind
You'll be ok; I know you'll make it
you're not so lost you can't be found
but what love has taught me; I know that life has brought me
the imagination and strength to stand my ground

The Nunnery Quadrangle (a nickname given to it by the Spanish; it was a government palace) is the finest of Uxmal's several fine quadrangles of long buildings with elaborately carved façades on both the inside and outside faces.
I must say, I was shocked when I saw how nighttime changes an owl's face. While they become fearsome predators at night, they also become much more adorable to us humans, who have evolved to perceive large eyes as captivating and innocent.
In an effort to find area barred owls, I set out to a local park before sunrise and came upon this Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) in the dark. This darkness was so inky and thick, in fact, that I could not see if he was in his hole or not, so trained my tripoded camera on the hole, manually focused, and finally saw him in the preview window! Shocked for sure by those massive pupils staring down at me, a frog (which he swallowed greedily prior to this photo and while I watched) in his talons!
Interestingly, owl eyeballs are not balls at all, but so well evolved for night vision that they have elongated into eye cones. For this reason, they cannot move their eyes in their sockets, and have evolved wildly-flexible necks. With their highly acute retinas replete with rods (the light and movement sensing eye bits), there wasn't much room for cones, and so most owls see limited or no color!
The early morning mist giving an eerie feel to the day with the Silhouette of a man walking into the distance, looking very ghostly. Leaving the seat empty. Would you sit there?
Wandering around Lake Vendel I noticed the shape of the trees with the clouds above, almost making a circle. It was a cold, sunny, crisp day, ideal for a walk
My spring and start of summer had been full of rush. Many beautiful days that I would have liked to grab my camera and go outside enjoying beauty of the flourishing nature had been too hectic to do so... Few "stolen" shots on the way from place to place, that's all. But one Saturday I managed to find a few hours time for myself, and went for a wonderful sunny morning walk to the closest peninsula. The world looked so different than couple of months ago! The overgrown ditch with standing water looked amazingly picturesque in the morning sun... Just ordinary trees, patch of still water, green plants, and sunlight, but the view looked really magic. Maybe you also see some of its spell? :-)
And for those friends who asked about my choir singing, I don't have permission to post records from our performances or concerts in social media, but I have one photo of our choir's concert (including me) from last Saturday's concert in Tallinn. My wonderful Flickr friend veebruar from Estonia that I was happy to meet there, came to our concert, and took a nice photo of us singing (in the rain, by the way!). Thanks to her you can take a look at it: www.flickr.com/photos/17898316@N00/27526695132/in/datepos....
What would London probably without Parliament and the Big Ben? Not only the building itself, but also the lives of all around me interested. As it is so famous among all these buildings to life? Clear I come from Bavaria, am so used to the old stuff around me and yet London is but a completely different world for me.
