Yet trim and tidy, an older barn and silo sit unused as the farming methods around them have changed. Many in the older generation still have gas left but the roads they once traveled with confidence are now irrelevant.

a find on the street - remains of an outdated technology.

Remember when the tape came out the cassette and you would tighten it back up with a pencil :) On the left there is a Walkman that still works. The main thing is the outdated cassettes........ and tubular bells, right here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDp-xpN7Xqg

An old lighter that was found in my father's house.

This seems to fit the "Outdated" weekly theme in the Crazy Tuesday group. I love collecting these old cameras.

The old camera of my mum from the 50's.

The massive cathedral was built between 1525-1577 in a late Gothic style, outdated elsewhere in Europe. The previous cathedral of Segovia had stood adjacent to the Alcazar, and had been used by the royal armies in defending the latter against siege. The rebellious Comuneros were intent on taking the Cathedral to protect its holy relics, and to use its position against the walls of the Alcazar in order to defeat its defenders. In a famous exchange, prominent city officials urged the comuneros to halt their attacks on the church, saying they should consider the injustice of razing so sumptuous a temple while making war against those who, serving their king, defended his Alcazar. But their plea fell on deaf ears, and the comuneros replied: la Iglesia era de la Ciudad (the Church belonged to the City). After a bitter siege lasting months, the cathedral lay in ruins.

some people tear down outdated kitchens, and some people thrive in them and appreciate their irreplaceable charm. hannah does not have anything modern in her house and has no plans of changing that. these rooms may seem old fashioned to everyone else, but to her they are in perfect working order with full function and beauty. i still can't imagine why anyone would pass that up!

Note: "Fernsprecher" (literally: Remote Speaker) is a long-outdated German word for "telephone".

An alternative attempt at this weeks "Crazy Tuesday" theme "outdated":

It shows a C. Reichert "Combinar 180 mm F 6.3" (large format) lens from around 1907...

With clearly over 100 years of age it might indeed be a little bit outdated. However - while I don't pretend that I use it regularly - I have adapted it to my modern camera successfully and also taken a few testshots here and there. It lacks contrast but apart from that it still works fine. Mechanically it is pretty much without any problem - I find that quite impressive to be honest and it is a testament to the quality of craftmanship in Austria, even more than 100 years ago.

Internationales Congress Centrum Berlin (ICC)

"Celebrated – and ridiculed – for its unusual appearance: the building, which opened in 1979, seems somewhat outdated. The ICC was built in the high-tech architectural style that became popular in the seventies. Its steel and glass buildings are characterised by an aesthetic style that reveals the function of the building parts.(...)

Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte were commissioned to build the conference centre. They designed an enormous building: 313 metres long, 89 metres wide, 40 metres high.

Slightly more than 20,000 participants can be accommodated at major events here. It has a total of 80 conference rooms, ranging from seven to 6,000 square metres each. The auditorium can hold up to 5,000 people, and Hall 2 around 4,000 visitors.

The ICC stands out due to its sheer dimensions alone and belongs to the few large buildings built in the high-tech architectural style.

The building also impresses with its machine-like appearance: futuristic, in keeping with the growing enthusiasm for technology in the 1970s. This can be clearly seen in the framework-like construction that runs along the façade. It supports the statics of the conference centre and evokes associations with construction site scaffolding.

The construction work started in 1975, six years after the first moon landing. It was therefore no wonder that the voluminous building with its shape and aluminium façade was called a spaceship. It became a popular postcard motif and landmark of future-oriented West Berlin."

Ardtrek Point is rapidly becoming my favourite location for dramatic skies.

This was shot on slightly outdated Kodak Ektar 100 film using my Minolta Dynax 9 camera and Minolta 70-210mm f4 "Beercan" lens.

The Dynax 9 is one of my all time favourite cameras. I remember lusting after it when it was a new camera and cost about £1200. There was no way I could spend that amount of money on a camera at the time so it was many years later in the digital era when film cameras were making peanuts that I was able to buy one in mint condition for about £200/250 - I can't remember the exact amount.

The meter in this camera is uncanny. Even on slide film a duff exposure is rare. This was shot on print film which is more forgiving and there is not one poor exposure.

The only thing I don't like about the camera is the noise the shutter/mirror makes which is horrible. It makes a sharp clatter which would be no use if you were in a location where you had to be quiet.

I like the way that despite the rigidity of the hard contrast, there is a sense of more dynamic movement through this one. This is about 3 years ago in the middle of city, Pitt St. Mall.

Crazy Tuesday Theme: “Outdated”

This old MP3 player is about 20 year old but still working except the battery not working as good. Now with streaming music appl, this has become outdated.

A portable Compact Disc player (a highly-rated model in its day from, believe it or not, the original Radio Shack from days gone by). This player has been flaky the last few times I tried it; when I tried to start it up with its AC adaptor for this shoot, it would not respond.

While CDs are still being produced (now fighting for market share with the resurgent LP phonograph record), iPods, MP3 players, and now smartphones with the designed-in ability to stream and store an endless buffet of music and other content, have now rendered this once high-tech portable music player obsolete.

(Exakta) RTL 1000 / Crazy Tuesday Contribution "outdated".

Well, I admit, it's not the most innovative thing to do: posting photographica for this week's theme. But the description fits: I don't use it, and it's too ... appealing to be resold. I just bought it because of the lens that was mounted.

Collectors don't like the RTL 1000 very much, because it's not really a Ihagee-made Exakta any more. And her odd-looking TTL prism seems to be so difficult to handle that some people recommend using an external lightmeter instead of it. It was produced between 1970 an 1973, and some call it the nail in the coffin of the proud Ihagee factory which ceased to exist as a brand in 1972.

I have a soft spot for bizarre-looking gear. So I'm gonna keep it, but I think I'll never use it.

¿Pasa algo?

Taken for the 52 Weeks theme "Disappearing Technologies".

During the final days of the Republic, the cheap design of the V-Wing was already established and well known in the galaxy. Its prime arrived with the rise of the Galactic Empire, where it was deployed as the primary starfighter for the imperial forces before introducing the Tie Fighter.

I have been a huge fan of the V-Wing ever since I read my first Dark Times comic. This Starfighter has been a challenging build. Figuring out the shapes while having enough space for a pilot wasn’t easy. I am going to go more in-depth about the model in a future post but for now, enjoy the imperial bowing!

Ever heard of Hans-Joachim Marseille? Or "the star of Africa"?

Whilst researching colour schemes for my update on my very outdated Bf109 (Thanks Pickle Gambino and MechanixLego for inspiring me to revisit my old moc) from three years ago, i stumbled across a very interesting read about a daring german Pilot Ace and his black, south African Companion Corporal "Mathew ‘Mathias’ Letulu" in the midst of the second world war.

Marseille was the best flying Ace during WW2 in North Africa - even though he initially sucked at flying, had to survive multiple crash landings and got kicked out of several squadrons because of his arrogance, drinking and not following commands.

He didnt care much about the Nazi Party either and valued friendship and life more, thus flying onto enemy airfields to deliver dog tags of fallen pilots and befriending a black POW, who became his close friend.

Full Story here - its worth the read!
