Brilliant light and sunrays lure this freighter back out to sea off the east coast of Florida, USA.

Outbound.

(Your Best Shot 2020).

Heading north-west out of Stockholms Centralstation which is Sweden's largest and busiest train station. Over the years I have taken many overhead shots of trains and arriving and departing at the station but could never find a location where I could get a good "eye level" view of the scene. I knew about this particular spot but I couldn't access it due to construction work which was ongoing for over one year but, back in June I noticed that the construction work was almost complete so I waited until the end of July and revisited the the location. I was amazed at the the scene as I stood on the tips of my toes leaning over the fence whilst using the top half of my under arms to hook onto it. I then visually composed the shot. I next adjusted my settings and had to wait for an outbound train to appear. I took a few shots in continuous mode but I knew that this particular photo wouldn't work if I didn't get my timing right. I was happy with my effort as my arms were tired from hooking on to the fence and there was no way I would have the strength to do it again.

I processed the photo through Photoshop, just fixing the the exposure, detail and sharpness before I used the SilverEFEX Pro add-on to convert it to Black & White where I manually worked (from scratch) on the photo (without using any of the provided presets) ... I then opened it again in Photoshop and painted in the light and shadows using the "curves" layer. I must say that it was a great journey for me and I hope you enjoy viewing the image.

Regards

Brian

Outbound on the lower Mt. Townsend trail.

After a week in MRL land we needed to head west towards Spokane. What better way to do that then a westbound chase of the afternoon Gas Local. We would follow all the way to Thompson Falls before saying our goodbyes to the MRL. Seen here crossing Marent Gulch on a fabulously sunny afternoon. It would be a great westbound chase.

It's a dismal, damp afternoon in Holland, Michigan, but that doesn't stop the bustling Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Co off of S. River Street. A Kenworth W900 leaves the yard on another run for scrap to feed the bustling plant. Farther inside, CSX's Y121 job based out of nearby Waverly Yard is in the process of weighing up outbound cars on the scale. Gondolas from the Missouri Pacific nearing a half century in age are part of today's train, inevitably serving their final years in the unforgiving scrap industry. The CSX 6461 was built in February of 1978 for the B&O, rolling off the line in the famous Chessie System paint scheme.
