The trip I took from Adelaide to Sydney on the Indian Pacific train gave me a day of beautiful views of Australia's outback.

Taken in the Northern Territories. It was very hot (40+C) and we came upon this old windmill that used to pump water into the tank. Unfortunately it had run dry and it was now rusted. All you could hear was the squeak of the windmill as it turned lazily in the almost calm air.
Leaving the Arltunga historical reserve, we pressed on north with the intention of traversing an interesting dotted line on the map known as “Cattlewater Pass”. Unfortunately, due to irresponsible travellers before us who had generally disrespected the private nature of the cattle stations the track passed through, the owners had closed it off to all passing traffic.
We were thus forced to travel west until we reached Pinnacles Bore, where we finally turned north again, heading for Gemtree.
We paused at Pinnacles Bore for lunch and I cranked up my wood gas stove to get the kettle on.
