We ate at Outback on the evening of the 26th. Service was poor... probably the young-ish staff wasn't prepared for the influx of tourists. I had the impression that the tourists were given better service.

Go early or avoid if you're not a tourist. :)

Why anyone would think this is good country for farming is beyond me.

Port Augusta is at the head of Spencer Gulf in South Australia. Situated in arid country on the edge of a vast desert. The town was founded as a port in the 19th Century.
