Mr. Truong, 67-year-old bomb survivor, is now walking with a new leg provided by Project RENEW’s Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O) Mobile Outreach program. It is the first time he received a prosthesis after he lost his leg due to a UXO accident forty years ago. In 2013 and the first half of 2014, 270 UXO survivors and disabled people were examined and provided with prostheses and assistive devices by RENEW’s P&O program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State through Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).

After sending Missy's leg castings of to the gentleman in Colorado that makes custom braces and orthotics for animals, it took approximately 1 month to receive them. These braces strap onto Missy's back legs just before we take her for her daily walk. They have eased her limping a great deal and she loves wearing them.

Children feel more stable, balanced, coordinated and have more endurance when they wear their SureSteps.

Morng Hong is a sixteen year old boy from Kandal province who lives with his adoptive parents on their small farm, where they make a living from rearing pigs and selling eggs and vegetables at the local market.

As a child Polio left Hong with limited use of both legs which means he uses a wheelchair to move around. The Cambodia Trust were able to help here; ensuring he received one more suited to his local environment.

The Cambodia Trust also purchased books and school uniforms which enabled Hong to attend local school. However, being amongst other young people his age is not always easy as there remains a great deal of discrimination towards persons with disabilities. During his time at school he has encountered bullying which has left him sometimes feeling isolated.

Apart from this Hong is a happy young man, who thoroughly enjoys working on the farm, where he manages to overcome the limits of his disabilities to make a positive contribution to his family’s main livelihood.

I saw the plastic Surgeon again yesterday for reevaluation of my finger.

Verdict is NO further progression in work schedule for another 2 weeks. Then if ok..return full time.

Presently I do not work more than 2 consecutive days/nights in a row.

I must continue to go to physio and wear this splint as much as possible when not working. VERY HARD TO FLICKR with this on! LOL :-(

The good news is that if I am very diligent in wearing this orthotic and doing my exercises, I will eventually get complete range of motion. He was very optimistic.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I work nights Sat and Sun, then switch back to day shifts next week.

I'll be around to leave comments when I can.

Thank you for all your many nice comments on my photostream! :-))

This case was a quick makeover of the front upper ten teeth. No Invisalign or beaching needed, just crowns and veneers. In fact the middle crown is an implant crown.

Plantar fasciitis blows.

It's great that some insurance company made hundreds of dollars off x-rays that don't help podiatrists diagnose or cure me in the slightest. 5 months after seeing 3 diff podiatrists, I'm finally getting custom orthotics soon. And all they've been able to do is say "exercise, take 600mg ibuprofen 3 times a day or 500mg naproxen once a day, and go to physical therapy" ($25 copays multiple times a week? Yeah right!). Pathetic. How about DOING SOMETHING, fuckers? Doctors never DO anything. I've read about tons of therapies for plantar fasciitis, but no actual podiatrist suggetss or mentions any of them.

My foot hurts. It hasn't stopped hurting for 9 months. And if it doesn't stop, I'll never step foot on a beach again. Fuck sand, fuck useless doctors, and fuck the american medical system for making more money off keeping me sick than curing me. My current podiatrist seems to agree with this -- "Orthotics cost about $150 to make, but the insurance company wont sell them to us for that price because they want to make money, so they will sell them for $250 or more." And then I'm stuck paying 20% of an cost that's only inflated to help some corporation. Nice.

Oh, and no steroid injections because my tear is in a place that's hard to inject. Still -- there are other therapies listed, including stem-cell based therapies. Telling me to take anti-inflammatories and exercise is what I would expect in the goddamn medical stone age of the 1960s, not in the 2000s.
