Up against a professional London theatre company, in Crewe to perform Hamlet on the theatre’s main stage, the youngster’s production proves to be a comedy of errors.

Representatives from the Co-operative Women's Challenge are in Manchester to strategise their plans for the International Year of Co-operatives. The campaign seeks to ensure women are fairly represented at all levels within co-operative movement.
At the time the cottages were built this stretch of Downall Green Rd -between Sougher's Lane and Bryn Cross- was known as Edleston Lane. The land belonged to the Parsonage Estate, “an extended but somewhat irregular parallelogram” of about 14 acres on the north-west side of Bryn Cross which, in 1738, had been placed in trust for the benefit of Park Lane Chapel. On completion of the cottages, the successors of the original trustees executed a lease in favour of the Park Lane Friendly Co-operative Society for a term of 999 years at £9 3s 4d per annum. The document is preserved at Wigan Archives, ref. D/NU 1/4/49.
