Nice to find a co-operative owl right beside the road on a nice perch. He did't even take off when I stopped and when a truck roared passed me honking his horn because I had stopped in the middle of the road. :)

The ‘Earth Tubes’ outside the Co-operative head office at 1 Angel Square, Manchester.
The 'Tubes' are used to suck 50m³/second of fresh air into the Co-op’s huge basement plant room where the temperature of the air is controlled giving cool air in summer and warm air in winter. Giant fans then circulated the air around the building through the service ducting to all floors.
The building in the background is ‘New Century House’ which is a Grade II listed building on the corner of Corporation Street and Miller Street. After Co-operative Group employees migrated to 1 Angel Square in 2013, office and kitchen space has been available to small-medium-sized businesses to rent.
The only thing is it always seems to be closed, so business looks bad or the high rising cost of food is too expensive to buy from it.
Still, one can look on the bright side of it, with a giant lollipop stick in front of it!

Generally mundane, but with inherent visual complexity - fill the frame with disconnected elements wherein there is some ingredient which barely holds them together.
The operative word being - frame.
Always be conscious of the frame and how the structure of the image relates to it.
Located in the wooded hills of the Wood Mountain Uplands, the community of Rockglen is central to an area rich in Indigenous and archeological history. It is a full-service community that offers a variety of businesses and facilities to its residents and visitors alike. The town and surrounding area provide endless choices for recreational activities including boating, hiking, touring, photography, hunting and a variety of local events.
Vestiges from before the last ice age, a land of hidden treasures, petrified wood and fossils, hammers and arrows of the Assiniboine, Plains Cree, and Blackfoot peoples. But it is the followers of Sitting Bull who left one of the strongest impressions. Following the Battle of Little Bighorn 5,000 Lakota Sioux Lakota fled to the Wood Mountain Uplands where they were under the jurisdiction of the North-West Mounted Police under the command of Major James Morrow Walsh. The hills, first surveyed by the Henry Youle Hind expedition in 1858, were used for hunting by day, and at night fires could be seen of meat being smoked. In 1879 the U.S. Cavalry set fires in Montana that spread and burned the grasslands of Rockglen, causing the ensuing famine and leading to the toponym "The Burning Hills".
It is in these Burning Hills where the Ferbane ranch was located. By 1910 the homestead became a post office, soon German and Austro-Hungarian settlers built homesteads out of tar paper shacks and sod huts. Wood building were built for businesses, such as the pool hall, which also contained the Wesley Methodist church, which became the Wesley United Church of Canada in 1925; Valley City became an unofficial community.
To the north the Kent homestead became a post office in 1915. Soon thereafter Beromé Prefontaine built a store and by 1917 Joeville, named for Joseph Prefontaine, was founded as a village. In 1926 Joeville was a prosperous community when the Canadian Pacific Railway constructed a rail line south from Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Alberta Pacific both built elevators along the line. Joeville split into the French community of Liseux near the new elevators and 26 buildings were moved south to the new CPR junction near Valley City. Valley City was relocated north of the tracks and incorporated as the Village of Rockglen in 1927.
Services were soon established in the tiny village. Mr. Sproul ran a school out of the Pinking Hotel on Centre Street. It was a community effort with desks and blackboards furnished by local carpenters and fundraising organized by Mr. Sproul. To the relief of Centre Street commerce a proper school house was built in 1928. It had three rooms: Mr. Preston as principal and two classes instructed by Miss Campbell and Miss Jarvis. In 1929 the Red Cross built a hospital, and a permanent post office was built, as was a branch of the Imperial Bank of Canada, and Charlie Switallo’s hardware store, which was the longest running Rockglen business to date.
Electric lighting was provided from 1929–1950 by the Rockglen Power Company, which ran every day from dusk to midnight, when three flashes indicated shut down. It wasn’t until 1950 when the Saskatchewan Power Corporation came to Rockglen that full 24-hour 120- and 240-volt electric service came to Rockglen.
The depression caused rural decline which was furthered by mechanization of agriculture during the later stages and in the time following the Second World War. Nearby Constance and Strathcona were dissolved and the one-room rural school houses were replaced by a system of buses and Bombardier tracked vehicles for winter use. Rockglen grew to a population of 500 persons when incorporated as a town with L. J. Bolster elected the first mayor. During the 1960s a new school was constructed, as well as a new post office, school office, Imperial Bank of Canada, and hotel.
The late 1970s saw a rise of inflation, combined with exceptionally high grain prices; many farmers retired and moved into Rockglen. In 1975 construction began on the Poplar River Power Station in nearby Coronach commissioned in 1981. 1981 also saw the construction of a new Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator. This is currently the last elevator in Rockglen and is owned by Poplar Valley Producers Co-operative. The resulting population influx had led to development of homes along Second Avenue and construction of Hillcrest Drive. To date, these are the newest housing developments in Rockglen. In 1988, Rockglen resident Jack Wolfe was elected as a Progressive Conservative Member of Legislative Assembly a position in which he served until 1991.

When Her Majesty The Queen officially opened the building in November 2013, it was declared the most environmentally-friendly building in the world. Former Co-Operative Stores at New Bolsover. The village stores form part of the model village of New Bolsover. These were built c1891-4, possibly to the design of architects Brewill & Baily. The building is listed Grade II.
The Petersburg Co-Operative Society Ltd was formed in 1906 and intially opened from the Diamond Jubilee Buidling until 1932 when it relocated to this large premises. The Co-Op Store continued operating here until it closed on the 15th of September 1965.
The Co-Op Store was a general store and stocked just about anything. Their motto printed in the member's book was "Let each man find his own in all men's good and work together in noble brotherhood." At one stage, the Co-Op had more than 650 members and traditionally held a social and dance every year for them.
The corner section was built in 1897 and originally had a verandah on the front and ide. The section alongside the Capitol Theatre was built in 1906 and was taken over by the Co-Op because of the need for more room. The original timber mullioned windows are still extant.
The mural on the side of the building depicts a scene from the Store in about 1935.
Peterborough, South Australia:
Peterborough was part of the Eldoratrilla Run from 1851 until the Hundred of Yongala was broken up for selection in 1871. Farm land was taken up in 1875 by a group of German settlers; Peter Doecke (after whom the town was named), Johann Koch, and Herman Rohde.
In 1880, while the railway was under construction from Port Pirie, Koch surveyed his land into town allotments and named it Petersburgh. The coast railway arrived from Port Pirie through Jamestown in February 1881, and the inland line from Burra through Terowie connected with it in May 1881, so within months of its foundation Petersburg - as the Post Office and South Australian Railways insisted on spelling it - became a major railway junction.
The town rose to prominence very quickly, and has remained the major population centre in the eastern half of the region. From its early development, Petersburg became a classic railway town in layout - like Gladstone and Quorn - with its main street parallel to the railway, and its principal hotels, banks, and commercial buildings clustered opposite the railway station. Petersburg's growth was assisted by the extension of the railway to Broken Hill in 1887, and by the construction of the Transcontinental Railway to Perth and the
Ghan line to Alice Springs in the early twentieth century, making it a strategic hub of the national railway network.
Under Railways Commissioner William Webb, a large railway maintenance workshop was built at Petersburg, and a suburb of railway workers housing went up at the western end of town, using innovative cast concrete construction techniques developed by Adelaide builder Walter Torode.
In 1918 the Nomenclature Committee renamed the town Peterborough, oblivious to the irony that its German founder had originally given it an English name, and it had only been
made to look German by a bureaucratic mis-spelling. During the 1930s depression, a gold crushing battery was built at Peterborough to encourage local mining. The town has lost most of its railway function since the 1970s, but remains an important regional centre.

A Novel by Mitsushiro Nakagawa
“Synopsis”
A Palestinian group from Gaza hacks into North Korea’s cryptocurrency system, stealing hundreds of millions of dollars. Their true goal is not money—but to recreate the lost homeland of Gaza on American soil.
Amid the backdrop of hardline Republican immigration policies and a growing wave of xenophobia, a quiet plan begins to take shape: the gradual collapse of America from within.
During a speech at Madison Square Garden, Republican presidential candidate Justin Bradford is shot. Almost simultaneously in Los Angeles, former president Owen Reed is attacked at a rally for Democratic hopeful Ryan Bennett.
Two assassinations—mirroring one another—ignite a nation’s deepest divide. Yet, against all odds, Justin survives. His blood type is one in 2.5 million: the Bombay Blood Group.
The only person who can donate such blood is Anaya Patel, a community art facilitator working in Brooklyn. Her blood, stored in the Bellevue Hospital Blood Bank, is used for an emergency transfusion that saves the candidate’s life.
Jack Vance, an agent of the U.S. Secret Service, suspects a Gaza-based network behind the attacks. Together with Cameron Bartlett, the FBI Director of the Los Angeles Field Office, and Veronica Reeves, a senior investigator from New York, he begins to uncover a vast conspiracy.
Their investigation leads them to Rafi Gannam, a former architecture student at the Islamic University of Gaza, who has infiltrated redevelopment sites across Los Angeles and New York—embedding C4 explosives deep within beams and structural cores.
His targets: new residential districts where agents of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and ERO (Enforcement and Removal Operations) live—symbols of “the order America built.”
Veronica urges the President to pursue dialogue to prevent further destruction, but President Grant M. Ranford refuses to listen.
Meanwhile, the recovering Justin and his Democratic rival Ryan appear on national television, calling for unity beyond political divisions.
Their words of reason, however, are drowned out when Grant takes the stage in Iowa, defiantly declaring: “We will never bow to terror.”
Among the crowd, Rafi’s operatives have already taken their positions.
As chaos erupts and the stage collapses, Amir Nasser—once Rafi’s comrade, haunted by the memory of his sister’s death in Gaza—tries desperately to halt the chain of destruction.
But Rafi’s conviction remains unshaken.
Under the twilight beneath the Williamsburg Bridge, amid the city’s fading noise, the two men part ways.
It is the boundary between prayer and vengeance, between hope and nothingness.

B♭ will be released worldwide on February 29, 2026.
Recently, director Ridley Scott remarked that streaming films and series have become dull.
I agree.
If you have two hours to spare for such stories, I ask for only two minutes of your time.
Two minutes with my novel will outlast those two hours.
I am confident of that.
Stay tuned.
