The Co-Operative Department Store is the finest example of Pre-WWII Modernist building in Derby City Centre. It was built 1938-40 and designed in-house by Derby Co-Operative Society's own architect, Sid Bailey - and having been built by the D.C.S's own Building Department it is completely 'Made In Derby'.
