Harris was born in the St Pauls district of Bristol the son of James Harris, master carpenter and his wife Sarah Ann. Originally employed as a builder’s clerk, F E L Harris commenced independent practice in Chelmsford, Essex in 1889, and moved to Manchester in 1897 as chief architect to the Co-operative Wholesale Society Limited.

A lovely example of quiet co-operative play happening in the early morning sun at our Furze Children's Centre nursery yesterday.
These two boys were mixing up cornmeal and rice whilst discussing the different fruits they were going to have for pudding. Quite a selection of pears, peaches, apples, strawberries and bananas - time to serve up!

A pomegranate. The last time I had a pomegranate was when I was may be 7 and was suffering from flu. This one wasn't very ripe but still quite tasty. It's amazing to see how complicated a fruit it is with its little compartments for seeds and patterns. I think the b&w image shows it clearer.
