"Welcome Welcome One and All the mists have cleared and the Fairelands await you. So much to explore, stores to visit, shows to see. Can’t wait to see you there!" The fairy said with a smile before fluttering off to chat with more people.

Sweet fragrance fills the air and the hum of the bees and dragonflies gently sing on the breeze as the winding path leads through the quaint hillside village of Lavendell. Where the wise folk dwell with their knowledge and power- it is where to go when you seek a remedy or spell – for the gardens of Lavendell are filled with the herbs and fungi of the ancient worlds and bring forth magic from the otherworlds.

"I love the possibility of openings," she said. Her words resounded in my head. I'm not one to lurk outside of closed doors, to court the impossible, to seek the unattainable, but show me the crack where silver threads of light get in, and I will weave you a tapestry of hope..."

We like to leave the itinerary flexible on our workshops so we can chase the light and take full advantage of the weather conditions. This approach really pays off in the types of photo opportunities we can give our clients. Here's a shot from the opening day of our Death Valley Workshop. The weather models we use showed a possible break in the clouds at sunset near Badwater. So we ran down to the Salt Flats and sure enough, Mother Nature delivered a nice sunset for our group! Kevin McNeal and I will be running 2 more workshops this year - Olympic NP in May and Death Valley in Dec. Click on the lniks below for more info!

As I was driving home to work I could see the sky was looking promising. I decided to swing by home and grab the camera kit and head to Mrs Macquarie's Chair. I set my camera up and was displayed with an amazing scene to capture. The sky went berserk as I rotated my Schneider PC TS Super-Angulon 50mm with Nikon D810 to capture the frames for this panorama.
The best thing is, this isn't even the best of the sky! However, it wasn't a great day for everyone. The poor man next to me dropped his Pentax 645Z into the harbor.
There shall be more to come. I hope you enjoy.

As far as I could see this was the only wild poppy flower that was not opened in a field that was at the end of their flowering period.

As the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus came to a close, the railroads that would move their train, were putting some interesting motive power on the train. On April 17, 2017, the train was being moved from Worcester, MA to Manchester, NH. P&W handled the train for about 3 miles from Worcester yard up to Barbers with a pair of Dash 7's. Pan Am took over the train at Barbers and ran it up to Manchester with both Pan Am's FP9's and 3 more EMD's providing power. Here we see the P&W leg of the train heading north through Worcester. The leader, 2201, was retired about a month later. The trailing unit 2216 was relocated by G&W out to the Ohio Central Railroad.

The REM light rail line opened between downtown Montreal and Brossard on the South Shore with free rides offered all weekend. Here two trains meet, with Autoroute 10 on either side and Mount Royal in the background.
Once again 4 hours seems to be the normal opening time for an Easter cactus as it sits on the window sill. and is warmed by the sun.

Yesterday Sylvia and her two girls arrived for a fun-filled weekend that started off with an evening at the fair that just arrived in town.
It was the girls' first experience with the fair at night and they loved it. I think we rode each ride at least once and walked around for about 5 hours.
The only real disappointment of the whole evening was that we were a little too late for the pony rides and one of the little ladies was a bit heartbroken over that.
There's a collage in the first comment of the ladies having fun.
Anyway, hope everyone had a great Friday.

I played with focal soften until I was able to see the heart shape of the heads together with the elbow. I also did a partial B&W treatment until it looked like a hand tinted photo.
"Nestled among the rolling foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge, Philpott Lake is a scenic wonderland. The lake covers 3,000 acres with 100 miles of shoreland.
The lake has eight campgrounds, six beach areas, and nine boat launches. Visitors to Philpott should begin with a trip to the Visitor Center.
The lake was built by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1948 and 1951, with it opening in 1953. Philpott Lake is convenient to Greensboro, NC (60 miles), Roanoke, VA (50 miles), Winston-Salem, NC (60 miles), and Raleigh, NC (130 miles), and Richmond, VA (190 miles)."
