There were five in veiw in front of us, but off to either side of us were even more.

We were surrounded.

We were surrounded by turkeys.

Wild turkeys.

Neither of us spoke.

We both knew what the other was thinking.

We might never get out of here alive.

session 2: getting ready for the first series of workshop sessions; the presenters were rotating in all three workshop rooms to give all participants the opportunity to hear them all and to held discussions

Using the HDR tone-mapping techniques that I've been developing recently, I wanted to see how pure B&W might work. These are desaturated from the original.

plenary session: Open Space - Drawing it all together: the participants who got an assignment letter when they registered themselves in the morning presented this outcome and their contribution to it in the final plenary session in the auditorium

Napa can be a festive place at night. This boit was jumping. Er, it was about about as jumping a spot as could be found in Napa, at least. :-)

This image was processed from a stack of three images (+/-2EV, 0EV), put through Qtpfsgui, and then further processed using the GIMP. I have left the Qtpfsgui parameters in place, but please remember; these were just the starting place and the Gimp further modified the original source images.

Pixel for pixel crop from the previous image, no resize.

500mm would have been nice, my 70-300mm just doesnt have the reach for most of the possible bird shots I encounter.

Second attempt at making good image out of what was trash,

Not sure if its going in the right direction.

Wupatki National Monument coming in just after sunrise. This area is also known as Antelope Valley.

I got a whole series of shots of this guy but unfortunately the foreground is the only thing in focus.

This is the last turkey shot for a while.

From up here they look like people.

These are an extreme experiment on HDR tone-mapping. I think the technique works better with complex highly textured images. The smoothness of these images... well... I'm willing to learn to like it... but... I'll have to give it some time to see how I feel...

At a ruin called "the citadel" at sunset crater just north of Flagstaff this crow flew by me with his lunch.
