The Jessup Path traverses a marshy area between the Park Loop Road and Dorr Mountain.
Since the day had started with rain but by mid-morning was merely overcast we decided to photograph in a wooded area. I suggested the Jessup Path because I had been there in the summer and found the area to be quite interesting since it was flat (unlike many of the popular Mount Desert locations) and the woods were open with very little understory vegetation. Originally the plan was to take the path starting at the south end from the Nature Center parking lot but a trail crew was working on installing a bog walk (the path is usually very wet and the walk will make it easier to access and prevent trail widening). Instead we looped via the Stratheden Path to where the Great Marsh fire road intersects Jessup. From there we were able to go South a little ways along the path.
I setup the tripod so that very little of the sky was included in the picture, I didn't want to have blocked up regions that would require multiple extractions from the RAW file with multiple layers and complicated masking in Photoshop. I also decided this was a good picture to have the smallest depth of field possible and isolate the trunk by making the background out of focus, which is unusual for me.
The final image is made up of two extractions from a single RAW file. The first was for the birch trunk, the highlight contrast was increased very slightly to improve the separation of the mid-tone grays from the white of the bark. The second was for the background which was made slightly darker than normal. The two images were placed in separate layers and masks created so that the subject birch trunk is lighter than the out of focus trunks in the background. The trunk of the fallen birch on the left was made slightly darker so that it was less distracting.

My local open farm was Revesby Farms, part of the Revesby Estate. It was a well run event, with great weather and the chance to see beyond the farm gate.

The 18th International Helsinki Open Wrestling tournament!
The competition was held on December 14th – December 15th 2024 at URHEA HALL.
The annually arranged Helsinki Open is a leading Nordic Freestyle Wrestling Tournament with categories ranging from kids to seniors.
The 18th Helsinki Open is the biggest in history.
This year there are a record number of participating countries, teams and wrestlers!

Bekerja sama dengan beberapa properti yang terletak dalam satu kawasan Pecatu Indah Resort, New Kuta Golf mengadakan sebuah turnamen akhir tahun yang sangat meriah. Pecatu Open 2013 mendapat sambutan yang luar biasa terutama karena penghargaan yang baru-baru ini didapatkan oleh New Kuta Golf seperti “Indonesia Leading Golf Resorts 2013/14 by Indonesia Travel and Tourism Awards, Top-Three Asia’s Best Maintained Golf Course in Asia Pacific 2013/14, dan Top-Three Best Golf Course in Indonesia”. Turnamen ini diadakan pada jam 1 siang dengan Shotgun Start dan diikuti oleh 132 golfers baik domestic maupun dari mancanegara dengan golf souvenir persembahan dari Bali Security Service.
Ada lima Hole in One yang sangat menarik untuk diperebutkan, yakni Honda Brio di hole 12 persembahan dari Meritus Pecatu Bali, Toyota Agya di hole 8, 2 ticket pulang pergi Garuda Indonesia dari Denpasar ke Perth dan Seoul, dan Samsung Galaxy persembahan dari Telkomsel. Yang paling menarik dari acara ini adalah hadiah lucky draw yang sangat dinanti-nanti oleh para pegolfer untuk dibawa pulang seperti lemari es, sepeda gunung, microwave, voucher menginap di hotel berbintang di bali, Luxury Mattress dari Serta Brand senilai lebih dari 30 juta, dan banyak lagi.
Untuk makan malamnya, diiringi oleh beberapa lagu yang dilantunkan oleh full band “Astika Entertainment” dan tarian Bali “Kembang Girang”, telah tersedia 5 food stall yang menyajikan makanan terfavorit dari seluruh property dan sponsor seperti sate Padang dari Lorin New Kuta Hotel, Korean Food dari Le Grande, dan western food dari New Kuta Hotel-A Lexington Legacy. Sekitar pukul setengah delapan malam, hasil pemenang turnamen akhirnya dibacakan. Dari kategori Ladies adalah Ms. Yulia Tori dengan handicap 7 dan gross total 80. Dari kategori Guest BNO dimenangkan oleh Bapak Vedanta dengan Nett 70 sementara BGO dimenangkan oleh bapak Agus Rudi dengan gross 80. Dari kategori member BNO dimenangkan oleh Bapak Agung Putra dengan Nett 66, dan BGO sekaligus juara Pecatu Open 2013 dimenangkan oleh Rishi Kumar dengan Gross 74.
Disamping juara-juara yang sudah disebutkan tadi, ada satu juara lagi yang mendapatkan perhatian yaitu bapak Nyoman Susila yang berhasil mendapat Headtrick Achievement karena telah memenangkan kejuaraan tiga kali berturut-turut dalam kurun waktu tiga tahun terakhir.
