The colour pink is the colour of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability......................

from virginia woolf’s to the lighthouse: “to be silent; to be alone. all the being and the doing, expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated; and one shrunk, with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself… when life sank down for a moment, the range of experience seemed limitless.”

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

people keep themselves busy

because they find it difficult

to bear their own consciousness.

People look for various entertainments

to escape from themselves.

The greatest challenge

lies in looking at oneself

sitting alone by oneself.

This beauty is not meant to be taken lightly. Give them to a loved one when you feel it most. “Give Them Freely”. You’ll receive love in return as love isn’t to be kept to oneself. Gratitude and Kindness are are rewards to be shared much like Love.

Sometimes the best company is oneself

Took this while jumping up and down on the swing bridge ... always good to challenge oneself! Yeah nah, not really, just thought I might get a giggle from Mark who suggested it!

Just for fun. Sometimes it’s good for the creative juices to just allow oneself to play. It helps us get to the place of making serious art.

Hyer est un artiste autodidacte issu du mouvement graffiti, il se classe volontiers dans la catégorie des artistes graffeurs- portraitistes. Hyer, utilise le Street art comme un exutoire, un besoin viscéral de s’exprimer.

Hyer is a self-taught artist from the graffiti movement, he readily classifies himself in the category of graffiti-portrait artists. Hyer, uses Street art as an outlet, a visceral need to express oneself.

Ataraxia (Ἀταραξία "tranquility") is a Greek term used by Pyrrho and Epicurus for a lucid state, characterized by freedom from worry or any other preoccupation.

For the Epicureans, ataraxia was synonymous with the only true happiness possible for a person. It signifies the state of robust tranquility that derives from eschewing faith in an afterlife, not fearing the gods because they are distant and unconcerned with us, avoiding politics and vexatious people, surrounding oneself with trustworthy and affectionate friends and, most importantly, being an affectionate, virtuous person, worthy of trust.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber feels a bit like being on a journey through time and would find oneself back in the time around the Thirty Years' War

In no other act does man experience so often the disparity between the desire for expression and the means of expression as in prayer. The inadequacy of the means at our disposal appears so tangible, so tragic, that one feels it a grace to be able to give oneself up to music, to a tone, to a song, to a chant. The wave of a song carries the soul to heights which utterable meanings can never reach. Such abandonment is no escape, nor an act of being unfaithful to the mind. For the world of unutterable meanings is the nursery of the soul, the cradle of all our ideas. It is not an escape but a return to one’s origins.

What the word can no longer yield, man achieves through the fullness of his powerlessness. The deeper the need in which one is placed through this powerlessness, the more does man reveal himself in his essence, and himself becomes expression. Prayer is more than communication, and man is more than the word. Should we feel ashamed by our inability to utter what we bear in our hearts? God loves what is left over at the bottom of the heart and cannot be expressed in words…. The unutterable surplus of what we feel, the sentiments that we are unable to put into words are our payment in kind to God.

The Garden sits nestled in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon overlooking the city and providing a tranquil, urban oasis for locals and travelers alike. Designed in 1963, it encompasses 12 acres with eight separate garden styles, and includes an authentic Japanese Tea House, meandering streams, intimate walkways, and a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. This is a place to discard worldly thoughts and concerns and see oneself as a small but integral part of the universe.

Born out of a hope that the experience of peace can contribute to a long lasting peace. Born out of a belief in the power of cultural exchange. Born out of a belief in the excellence of craft, evidence in the Garden itself and the activities that come from it. Born out of a realization that all of these things are made more real and possible if we honor our connection to nature.

It was long silence, but at last was able to go to Mount Fuji to meet recently.

The feeling that the effort until this day is rewarded feels very comfortable.

Because I do not forget this feeling, it wants to be always oneself doing not spare an effort.

I liked the idea of being born of oneself, as if one planet could give birth to another planet, or as if after Saturday another Saturday began.

Ah, the endless party.

"Finally, there were those on the lower edge of independence, including many artisans and petty traders, for whom participation in such associations could be, as people like Defoe never tired of saying, a dangerous drain on resources. Their chief form of association was doubtless the more ephemeral clubs based in taverns. However, we should not underestimate the appeal of associations to this group. For them, too, association could be useful, not least in organising every aspect of employment, from displaying one's talents to striking for higher rewards. Furthermore, it was among the lesser bourgeoisie that dependence on the collective action of oneself and others was most intense. For example, without clubbing together such people could not even afford to read a newspaper. This arguably heightened their desire to assert the sense of freedom and independence that separated them from those below them."

Caravaggio sneaking into my work again. He used street people as models for the emotions he wanted to depict. He used lighting to magnify and enhance the story moment. For me, he is the founding father of modern realism.

Pokrovskiy Convent was founded by Princess Alexandra Petrovna, the wife of tsar's Alexandr II brother - grand duke Nikolay Nikolaevich. She created the convent for poor woman who needed the asylum and wanted to devote oneself to God. The consecration of the future convent took place on the 11 of January 1889: on this day the foundation of church and princess house took place. This date is considered to be the day of the convent foundation. Alexandra Petrovna settled in the convent already at the time of construction and took here the veil with the name of Anastasia. Main temple - St. Nikolas cathedral was founded in 1896 in the presence of Tsar Nikolay II and his wife Alexandra Fedorovna. The Tsar himself endowed 80 thousand rubles for the construction.

Saturday nights are meant to be spent on the dance floor, losing oneself to the rhythm of whatever song is blasting overhead. The clashing of bodies ondulating in a musical frenzy... The unity of people under the universal language of music is a beautiful epic.

It's Saturday, folks! Let me put my white gogo boots on and let's dance!

the world is complicated and often tragic. my heart breaks open with sadness and compassion. the dalai lama says, “it is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.” right now, there is great potential for doing good. may we each take the next most skillful step toward wise, compassionate, impactful action.

In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty.

He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him.

Nemesis noticed this behaviour and attracted Narcissus to a pool, where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realising it was merely an image.

Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus lost his will to live. He stared at his reflection until he died.

Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a fixation with oneself and one's physical appearance or public perception.

These here, with a salmon trumpet, is a fragrant variety.

I (maybe wrongly) make a distinction, based on that fact, between Daffodils and Narcissus...

I'm trying for a Japanese style Sumi-E finish, where the subject supports it. I felt that the treatment led to a sense of 'beyond' and 'bigger than oneself'.

I just really liked the curve and the steep bank next to the tracks and it's always fun to imagine oneself riding one of the trains that use this track! . :) Have a fantastical kind of day everyone!

The day and the night,

The Yin and Yang,

The darkness and the light,

Both intersect.

At the crossroads,

The meeting finally,

Understand the other, and understand oneself,

Both finally united.

In Japan a tōrō is a traditional lantern made of stone, wood, or metal. In Japan, tōrō were originally used only in Buddhist temples, where they lined and illuminated paths. Lit lanterns were then considered an offering to Buddha.

Another shot from this fabulous morning southbound chase, one of the tops of the trip for sure. Canadian National train U713 has a trainload of pellets fresh from the Minntac taconite plant headed south to Proctor Yard. The sizzling train is steaming in the cool damp morning air as the same tunnel motor trio from the prior day curls south with fan favorite rebuilt SD40-3 BLE 909 (originally built as an SD45T-2 in Feb. 1973 as SSW 9277) leading the way. They are seen here curling thru the popular Culver s-curve at MP 28 on modern day CN's North Division Missabe Sub mainline.

This is an area that needs no introduction to even the most casual fan as the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway is in a word legendary. I won't bore you with pages of history as I couldn't do the road or region justice anyway. It simply needs to be experienced for oneself. But I will direct you to two resources. Absolutely check out the fabulous historical information here: www.missabe.com/

The toll bridge over the River Itchen at Woolston. When we walked the Itchen Way at this point it was daylight so I told myself to go back later to take the night time image. This is an iconic shot of Southampton, there are much better ones out there but this is mine. It wasn't actually quite dark enough but I couldn't hang around any longer, maybe go back again some day! Suggestions welcome, one would be a note to myself to keep a record of the settings cos I can't remember now what I did :-)

I had to learn how to do this for my 113 set, almost finished the set now, a great way to force oneself to learn new things.

I loved science, and yet I had discovered a whole other realm of reality, one that could not be accessed by formulas or equations but by stripping oneself of “self” and entering the dark, cavernous mystery of the human heart. The laboratory of knowledge was now not only in the world of science but in the world of the soul. To find God without, one must find God within.
