“Per me, la macchina fotografica è come un block notes, uno strumento a supporto dell'intuito e della spontaneità, il padrone del momento che, in termini visivi, domanda e decide nello stesso tempo. Per "dare un senso" al mondo, bisogna sentirsi coinvolti in ciò che si inquadra nel mirino. Tale atteggiamento richiede concentrazione, disciplina mentale, sensibilità e un senso della geometria. Solo tramite un utilizzo minimale dei mezzi si può arrivare alla semplicità di espressione”. “For me the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the master of the instant which, in visual terms, questions and decides simultaneously. In order to "give a meaning" to the world, one has to feel oneself involved in what one frames through the viewfinder. This attitude requires concentration, a discipline of the mind, sensitivity, and a sense of geometry. Only through a minimal use of the means we can arrive at the simplicity of expression ". Having such occasions as this to oneself with camera in hand, or more accurately, on a tripod induces a gamut of emotions. I have been exploring this location for more than twenty years and have felt them all here. Serenity won out today.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
Took this a little while ago and wasn't sure if ever to upload it, however, since it's Hallow's Eve, why not?! Think I'll share this out whilst listening to Type O Negative's Black No. 1 plus it's good not to take oneself so seriously all the time!
I wish everyone a Happy Halloween and hope you all have a great weekend!
And so as always, thank you! :)

For some reason, the words in this title were what popped into my head when I saw this section of rippled sand as I walked along the beach on my trip to the coast.
Perhaps in part because I was feeling so small in the vastness of my surroundings. A minus tide that morning meant it was a very long walk down to the water, and the expanse of sand seemed endless as it flowed into the boundless immensity of sea and sky. And as I stood at the intersection of those three elements and felt their power swirling around me, I felt as though I was teetering on the edge of the infinite. It was one of those moments to surrender to, and to get lost in, and in the getting lost, to find oneself again.
Ataraxia (Ἀταραξία "tranquility") is a Greek term used by Pyrrho and Epicurus for a lucid state, characterized by freedom from worry or any other preoccupation.
For the Epicureans, ataraxia was synonymous with the only true happiness possible for a person.
It signifies the state of robust tranquility that derives from eschewing faith in an afterlife, not fearing the gods because they are distant and unconcerned with us, avoiding politics and vexatious people, surrounding oneself with trustworthy and affectionate friends and, most importantly, being an affectionate, virtuous person, worthy of trust.
Studying a flower this closely reminds me that we could all benefit from carrying a magnifying glass in our pockets. Then when we were waiting for someone, instead of grabbing a cell phone and staring at the screen, one could pick up a flower. We spend days lost inside our minds....regretting things in the past or worrying about the future. How wonderful it would be to find oneself in the present moment!

“A path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you . . . Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't it is of no use.”

“For now she need not think of anybody.
She could be herself, by herself.
And that was what now she often felt the need of
to think;
well not even to think. To be silent; to be alone.
All the being and the doing,
expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated;
and one shrunk, with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself,
a wedge-shaped core of darkness,
something invisible to others...
and this self having shed its attachments was free
for the strangest adventures.”
― Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse

There are adventures of the spirit and one can travel in books and interest oneself in people and affairs. One need never be dull as long as one has friends to help, gardens to enjoy and books in the long winter evenings.

I was taught, when I started birding, that a mixed Warbler flock is not a static thing, but something that moves in a purposive way. Rather than chasing individual birds, one wants as much as possible to position oneself in the path of the flock. Birds will be much more relaxed if they brush by you doing their work than if you interrupt their work and chase them.
That is easier said than done. But the shore of the Ottawa River turned out to be just such a place more times than I had imagined this fall. By the stage in the southbound migration I had the opportunity to be out, it was primarily Yellow-rumpeds, but the odd exception shows up. And the benefits for a photographer standing as Warblers move around you are as good as they are for birders.
I wish for peace all over the world!
Silence is not just the absence of noise.
Rather, silence is also the contemplation of oneself.

“The war within oneself can be the toughest battle to fight. It is the invisible one that nobody can see, that nobody knows. The one that you are so good to hide and the one that sometimes pride or shame gets in the way of seeking help. The war within oneself is isolating and dark. You wonder if you’ll survive and if you do, which pieces of you will remain.”

The wings on this Vermilion Flycatcher brought to mind Paul McCartney and the group “Wings” that Paul put together with his wife Linda after the Beatles disbanded.
The song, which features disco overtones, was written in response to music critics accusing McCartney of predominantly writing "silly love songs" and "sentimental slush." Goes to show that one must try to please oneself, as one cannot please all the people all the time ;-)

"Silly Love Songs" is a song by the British–American rock band Wings that was written by Paul and Linda McCartney. The song first appeared in March 1976 on the album Wings at the Speed of Sound.
The song was McCartney's 27th American number one as a songwriter; the all-time record for the most number one hits achieved in the USA by a songwriter.

Macro Mondays: Stone
Image is cropped to fit the 3" size guideline limit.
I purchased this little necklace charm while on a trip to Dominican Republic a few years ago. The rare blue pectolite stone, called Larimar, is unique and found only in the Dominican Republic. I thought it would be a fitting souvenir to buy and wear to remember the trip. There were many styles of Larimar jewellery to choose from but it didn't take me long to decide on this little charm shaped like a flip flop sandal, it seemed perfect since I was on a Caribbean vacation afterall. I haven't worn it in a long time but today while I was researching about it I found out that it is a healing stone to be worn by people who are stressed as it works to bring balance and harmony with your energies to achieve overall calm, relaxation and unity within oneself. Hey, that's me! If I had known this I would have never taken it off. 😂 Whether or not that is true, I think it is interesting...
Thanks for your visit and Happy Macro Monday! I hope you are having a great day!

Young couple dancing by the window. I don’t know the names of these people, I know that they don’t smoke or drink alcohol ... and they’ll have a wedding soon. The photo was taken during the celebration of the anniversary in the Moscow restaurant.
Under the phrase "harmonious couple", many understand approximately one thing: partners fit each other, have a great relationship, in the end, look good next to each other. But all this does not fully reflect the essence of the concept.
According to scientists, there are five aspects that define a wonderful union and are present in a relationship.
Mutual respect. This is one of the fundamental conditions for a strong union of a man and a woman. If one partner is not ready or does not want to accept the other as he is, accept his shortcomings and features, a good family will not work.
The desire to speak frankly with a partner. According to psychologists, the ability to find common topics of conversation, to interest another in something is an important condition. But it is even more important to be able and ready to listen and hear a loved one. Pretending that you are interested in discussing a topic is one of the types of lies and will not lead to anything good.
Feel and be one team. This is expressed in the distribution of responsibilities around the house, and sincere care for each other, and in the feeling of oneself as a whole. Remember the musketeers' motto: "One for all and all for one"? Something like this is tacitly in the relationship of spouses.
Sense of humor. In a harmonious relationship, it is good not only to admire each other's skills, but also to joke fun about shortcomings, it is easy and positive to experience troubles.
Confidence. In a couple where there is no absolute trust in each other, there is no happy future. Doubt can kill even the greatest love.

"Violence is an action by which the person tries to establish a balance of power with another person. Violence does not give importance to the needs and emotions of the other. The person using violent behavior forces the other to act against their will without respecting who they are. Violence is not a characteristic of the individual, but rather a means used to achieve hidden goals or defend oneself by discarding on a fake victim, or by creating a culprit who does not exist.
Examples:
Criticize someone
Put people down
Accuse the other of everything
Trying to isolate people by spreading rumors
Insult people,
Punish and reject people for no reason
Manipulate people;
Manipulate emotions
Using own mistakes and lies when blaming others
Humiliate;
Intimidate;
Dealing with names;
Threaten
Yell at someone
Raise the tone ....."
At the first "red flag", no matter if it's come from close friends, friends, contacts, people you know well, people you don't know. Sometimes, the most quiet are the more "toxic".... So, take off your empathy, stop immediatly the trust and confident you place in some people. Don't spend 1 mn more. Tell in front of face the truth you have to tell and run.
Run...
And far,
And fast ♥
"An island onto oneself." (John Donne) Extend this analogy to nature and the bell is so silent.
A lone oak tree in the middle of a bean field recently harvested and disk ed in preparation for a new planting on a Mississippi river bottom of Missouri.
With the weather improving lately, taking a walk around sunset provides time to enjoy Nature. Long steep hills, country roads, and trees bare of leaves provide numerous opportunities to capture tree silhouettes against the sunset background. Rewarding oneself with Nature, a pair of earbuds and suitable music for your head and your heart is always a good habit. Being able to enjoy walking with a device suitable to capture memories is important. I’d love to “Keep The Sunset” for myself but sharing on Flickr is cool too.

It is difficult to express oneself correctly when translating from one language to another. But, I hope something evokes a nerve and understanding for my little poem
day or night
I keep it tight
I'm wandering around
a night without sound
along path and streets
who meets and greets
this is where I belong
where I feel at home
... I would have to say that the guitar has been the most stable thing in my life so far.
About just being oneself, the "I AM" -this is a wonderful text if you are willing to dive into silence for a while:
Derive happiness in oneself from a good day's work, from illuminating the fog that surrounds us.

Picking up a paintbrush always makes me smile. I know I'll get lost in quiet contemplation as the image unfolds before my eyes. Here's to finding things that bring you peace and joy!
The world is going crazy. The real nature of a person is now coming out into the open and you realize that there is only hatred and discontent. Dissatisfaction because you no longer had the same freedom as two years ago. Dissatisfied with oneself. So unhappy about life that you have to project hate onto others. Agitation is practiced and it doesn't matter who it hits. Why not learn from history, what was written before us? Why don't we try to do better?
Are we too lazy?
Too stupid?
Too blind?
I am sooo exhausted, just my head.
- It is wide awake.-
