Derive happiness in oneself from a good day's work, from illuminating the fog that surrounds us.

Picking up a paintbrush always makes me smile. I know I'll get lost in quiet contemplation as the image unfolds before my eyes. Here's to finding things that bring you peace and joy!

The world is going crazy. The real nature of a person is now coming out into the open and you realize that there is only hatred and discontent. Dissatisfaction because you no longer had the same freedom as two years ago. Dissatisfied with oneself. So unhappy about life that you have to project hate onto others. Agitation is practiced and it doesn't matter who it hits. Why not learn from history, what was written before us? Why don't we try to do better?

Are we too lazy?

Too stupid?

Too blind?

I am sooo exhausted, just my head.

- It is wide awake.-

Be it for the purpose of cleansing oneself in order to prepare for ritual, or to relieve the tension of negative energies weighing us down, it's common for people of varied spiritual walks to utilize baths as a means to balance our energies. Personally, I enjoy sweet baths as a quick method to lift my mood when I find myself depressed or weighed down by life's stresses. ♥

There is a remote area southeast of Ottawa that hosts flocks of this species every winter, although the size of the flocks varies from year to year. On very cold mornings it is not unusual to find oneself alone, and like Waxwings, part of the magic of this species is the sound of a flock all around you. The amazing chatter is magnified to a constant buzz.

There isn’t a lot of light at that time, but that helps one control the exposure on whites - crucial for images of the male of this species. And as the sun pokes through the trees it makes for some nice backgrounds.

I know the leaf above his head isn’t ideal. But it lives there too, or at least it did. And the bird ignored my telepathic pleas to hop over to another adjacent branch.

Respect is measured in millimeters.

I'm gonna watch this picture on every cold winter day...only to warm oneself :-)

To pause.

To stop for a moment.

To reflect.

To wonder.

To realize the importance of oneself.

To realize the un-importance of oneself.

Pausing for a moment and just being. ~Me~

On a small walk through the botanical garden in gießen I discovered this flower topped by a feather. In German we have an idiom so called: "to decorate oneself by foreign feathers..."

I spontaneously associated this idiom with this picture.

I have used the primoplan lens by optic meyer görlitz and did not use any special effects by software...

Have a nice time!

‘Marubi’ – from Photo Library to a Museum of Photography

The National Museum of Photography ‘Marubi' was established as an absolute need to identify and promote the photographic archive created by the Marubi Dynasty and other city of Shkodra photographers, a cultural heritage unique in its kind.

At the center of the museum project is the legacy of the ‘Photo-Studio Marubbi', founded in 1856 by Pietro Marubbi, an Italian painter and photographer who came and settled in Shkodra at the time. The activity of the studio over the years, was directed and enriched by three generations of photographers, until the early 1950s, time when Gegë Marubi was forced to give oneself up to the communist collective anonymity, by joining other photographers in the photography unit of the former Repair-Services Cooperative.

In 1970 was founded the Marubi Photo-Studio with around 500,000 negatives in various techniques and formats.

WARNING! this scene contains flash photography at high ISO so please turn away if this offends you, sorry only had an f2.8 40mm pancake with me and struggled all night. note to oneself bring a low light lens to Slovakia next time grrrrr!

"Life consists in learning to live on one’s own, spontaneous, freewheeling: to do this one must recognize what is one’s own—be familiar and at home with oneself. This means basically learning who one is, and learning what one has to offer to the contemporary world, and then learning how to make that offering valid."

- Thomas Merton / from "Learning to Live" in Thomas Merton: Spiritual Master

Having a person together with oneself in every aspect of life is the true blessing one can have.

Taken in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

No, it was not the 'answer,' my friend.

I was tired, hot, and sweaty. What better relief is there, than to park oneself on the edge of a bluff and take in the cool breeze?

But, little did I know that Western Tanager males with their hyper sensitive sense of smell are curiously attracted to tired, hot, and sweaty retirees. Hence this slightly cropped full frame shot.

You see some strange things in photography once you properly at a photo. This starling has either a newt or lizard jammed in it's mouth and shortly after starts bashing it on the concrete so it goes down smoothly. I have more pictures but the sun was so in and out and my metering and auto exposure is kaput on my d500 so it's slow guess work at the moment. note to oneself, GET IT FIXED! lol

“There are no good or evil people. There is only a great, unfathomable mob trampling itself underfoot. The life-giving sources of the old morality have dried up and vanished in the sands of oblivion. There's no other source to draw from, no place to refresh oneself. There is no example, no inspiration. It is night. A night of indifference, apathy, chaos.”

― Tadeusz Konwicki

The place where apathy will lead us. Or to put it more plainly, we must reject apathy in the face of injustice.

Being perfect does not mean

To be smart and pretty.

Or with a smiling face

To show oneself and to cry inwardly.

Perfection means

To be the way you are.

To show the interior

No matter how sad we are.

Because people who love you,

they do not care.

They are only driven,

From her love mania.

Drum do not forget

Perfect is only then

If you only correspond

And you, you can be yourself.

Waking up at the first sign of daylight is made worth the effort of dragging oneself out of the comfortable cosiness of a bed. when you get to witness a spectacular sunrise such as this one.

I found myself alone in the wide expanse of the park, the faintest glimmer of light had just started to awaken the dawn; a few brave birds tweeted their morning serenade heralding the slowly rising sun. as I sat I watched the horizon begin to glow, then slowly at first the night sky was pushed back by the cresting glow of the new days sun. eventually the sky was ablaze with orange silver and golden fragments of light that were darting in all directions.

To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.

Henri Bergson

------------------------------------

A transition period is a period between two transition periods.

George Stigler

One morning, a Gambel’s Quail stood on a cactus, considering the world with the sort of grim patience one usually associates with clerks at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Then, without warning or visible plan, he leapt.

Not upward in any confident sense—more outward, as though startled by the discovery that the cactus was, in fact, a cactus.

His wings spread, his body tilted, and for a moment, he appeared to be arriving and leaving simultaneously.

It is the peculiar gift of quail to look perpetually undecided.

He landed in a tree, which is, on balance, better than landing in a hawk.

From this new perch, he regarded the yard as if he had meant to be there all along.

What drove him from his cactus was not danger, but the warning cry of a scrub jay who preferred an empty feeding ground.

It is the bird equivalent of shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater, so one might have the popcorn to oneself.

The quail did not seem offended. Quail seldom are. They survive by accepting every hoax as gospel and every false alarm as a small price for not being digested.

Because that’s what quail do.

They get chased.

They get tricked.

They come back.

Until, of course, they don’t.

They reproduce quickly, disappear without warning, and rank in the food chain somewhere between appetizers and afterthoughts.

Moral thanks to Rafi: don’t be a quail!

To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself.

Soren Kierkegaard.

Sometimes one just needs to "breathe". Take a small moment for oneself...and just be...life today seems to move so fast, the days and months fly by. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to keep up ... so I say .. "Just Breathe"
