I have no idea what this is and how it got here, but

a) it's about the size of a large football

b) it seems like it was brought here by one of the recent storms

c) it looks heavy, pointy and quite deadly

Today, we enjoyed the last bright sunlight of 2020 on a morning walk in Ockenburg.

The sky was very clear, but there was a haze of mist between the trees making for some awesome views.

Westduinpark is filled with viper's burgloss (blueweed) and greater mullein right now - taken with my phone as I'm no weirdo and don't take a large camera with me on my bike.

Built in 1929, this was the first high rise apartment building of the Netherlands.

It was planned to be twice as tall, and other, similar buildings were to be built near it, with connecting passageways, but those plans never came to be.

There were many novelties though: a service elevator, a central vacuum unit with connections in every apartment, laundry chutes and a large service staff. Most of these things are gone now.

It has a position in the top 100 of national monuments.

Obviously, it has always been an escape room, but puzzles are the means of escaping now.

Although they've been dying to reopen, most cafes and restaurants still seem very much deserted.

A day of training during one of Belgium's hottest days

Ockenburgh estate is chock full of mushrooms right now, mainly honey fungus.

I wanted to get out of the house with wife today, so I decided we needed to go up and catch the sunset at the Chimney Bluffs. It was my wife's first trip there.

We arrived just in time for sunset, and I discovered we did have perfect clouds for sunset photos.

Quickly, I set up my tripod and camera, and started shooting in full manual.

This is not one of those shots. (I still have to off load my SD Card.)

In between shots on the D7000, I took a few with my phone. Wow! These phones are getting good!

On these exceptionally clear and bright days, it's hard to imagine that an invisible virus is keeping the world hostage.

PROTIP: Don't put your moka express on the stove for more than 30 minutes without putting water in it.

Not only will you not get delicious espresso, it will do serious damage to your ring!

Dutch landscapes from the train

Here our ICE to Switzerland was rerouted through a landscape usually only visited by sprinter trains.
