Finally another Bittern encounter. One of my fave birds.

They are so reclusive and mysterious. Looks like a juvenile.

Jonge roerdomp (Botaurus Stellaris).

there were glory days in the wool industry, sadly too many of these wonderful old sheds are no longer in use anymore. The decline in wool, the drought plus cattle have been substituted on many sheep grazing properties

Once, we made everything we used. This lock is around fifty years old. Still works as well as I imagine it did the day it was first sold. Got it at an antique store :-D

Once again it is that time of year that the hearts rule.

Once these two where part of a bigger one...

Take good care of it.

Last year's holly berries still on the tree have shriveled and turned black. I found them rather intriguing. Victoria, BC, Canada.

Thank you for visiting my photo stream and taking the time to view some of the images. Your comments and/or faves are greatly appreciated

Out of interest... whose face do you see first?

Once again i took a picture of this lake with the beautiful background. The sun in the evening makes it look more comfortable.

Once the Hay is cut, it has to be Tedded. Meaning it has to be spread out evenly so it dries in the Sun. It will then be tedded again to turn it over and finally once more to collect it into long lines for the baler to pick up.

"The more you know, the more you can create. There's no end to imagination in the kitchen."

Julia Child

I believe that Julia Child was referring to the cooking process being involved in imagination. However, often I am easily distracted from the task at hand.

Being in the kitchen with sliced food or small kitchen tools, I see those items as photographic subjects. I think it's good to let one's imagination run wild...within limits, I suppose. :)

Further along this road is an old house, long abandoned and now beyond repair. But what memories remain in those bricks and timber?

The young on the back of an adult Eared Grebe is vocalizing, possibly to indicate hunger. Or perhaps it is expressing satisfaction with its situation in life, getting carried about like this, maybe already aware of how good it has it… Of course it will face challenges, especially once it leaves its birthplace here at Francis Lake, north of the village of Herbert in southcentral Saskatchewan, Canada.

Once again craning from a perch aboard the ferry home, this time has me viewing from the port side. The sun is brilliant, overhead and I am witness to a powerful opportunity. There is very little color so a B&W photo becomes the goal. At its peak, the cloud is incredibly white, while the island in its depths, is in shadow and almost black. The contrast is wonderful and makes for a very dynamic result.

The shape too adds to the overall energy of the image. A triangle is a very strong shape in photography, and this moment cooperates in form. I am not concerned with depth, but instead both shape and contrast. And, as good fortune would have it, the grey sky delivers the ideal palette.

Once upon a time, this was a big forest. But after some dry years, most of the trees had to be felled. The snow hides this area only for some days of winter beauty.

Life has many ways of testing a person's will.

Either by having nothing happen at all or by having all happen at once!
