Kurobe Gorge, Northern Alps, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, Our great adventure with my best friend, September 1975.
Kurobe Gorge is one of the three major valleys in Japan. We went up from Keyakidaira (Zelkova flat) to Kuro-yon-dam (Kurobe No. 4 Dam) in a 30 km valley called the Shimonorouka (Lower corridor) in 3days and 2night.

**I didn't title this picture hoping to grab onto what's happening right now.
I don't know what made me chose these particular words the evening before the world woke up to the hideous assault being perpetrated on the Ukraine.
But words can be potent - guns and missiles only bring blood and death - words are what we, who don't bear arms, have as our weapons.
Words of unity, of love, of support. Words matter.
I hope, with all my heart - that the people of Ukraine will triumph in their fight. My tears are theirs.

At over 2000ft Stac Pollaidh stands sentinel and guards the gateway to the InverPolly Estate.
A sense of scale can be taken from the small fishing boat at the L/H side of Loch Lurgainn in the foreground.

Nothing like this, very close by, to get your blood pumping. I was just standing there checking out some little birds, when this big boy dives right in front of me and grabs some breakfast. He leaped up to this branch and just shredded it. Ummmm Yummy

Where has all the water gone it was a temporary canal while another was built around it many years ago the trouble being it had to cross a river somehow now has an aqueduct over the river at a higher level near by.
In September 1975, we crossed a number of huge snow bridges. As we passed under the huge snow bridge, we were soaked with very cold drips from ice.

Once again our house beach in the south of Sri Lanka. If it is not rainy sunrises and sunsets are always gorgeous. But every day is different. It is an interesting task to observe the difference in sunsets and sunrises from day to day.
Once part of the largest herring fleet but no longer seaworthy, these upturned boats are now used as sheds, on Holy Island, Northumberland. A fitting tribute to all who sailed in them, watching out over the island bay.
