Gateshead Storm look to step over a low hurdle against Clock Face Miners in Division Three of amateur rugby league's Kingstone Press Cider National Conference League. St Helens-based Miners were making their home debut in the flagship competition. They built up a 16-4 lead at Clock Face Miners Recreation Club only to lose 18-16. Clock Face almost snatched victory at the death but were prevented by determined Storm tackling from grounding the ball.

A perfect day for the walk out to the Orongorongo River from Catchpool Road, cool but still and sunny above the forest canopy under which the easy path weaves.
The forest is beautiful - varied in character, with many remarkable specimens of rata and rimu festooned with epiphytes, groves of nikau palms, tree ferns, mountain beeches and many other native species.
We were pleased with ourselves for undercutting the advertised 4 hour return trip by a good 40 minutes.

Description: This is a few of the14 x anti-tank 'coffins', defending the artificial anti-tank ditch connecting the rivers Arun and Ouse. Placed diagonally across the road. Seven anti-tank concrete obstacles parallel with lane and at right angles to the B2210 Handcross to Lower Beeding road.
