An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!

The Carrizo Plain is a large enclosed grassland plain, approximately 50 miles (80 km) long and up to 15 miles (24 km) across, in southeastern San Luis Obispo County, California, about 100 miles (160 km) northwest of Los Angeles.[4] It contains the 246,812-acre (99,881 ha)[2] Carrizo Plain National Monument, and it is the largest single native grassland remaining in California. It includes Painted Rock in the Carrizo Plain Rock Art Discontiguous District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2012 it was further designated a National Historic Landmark due to its archeological value. The San Andreas Fault cuts across the plain."

Well I was shooting fall colors in Zion National PArk when I saw that they had forecast snow for Bryce Canyon, so instead of heading back to LA, I headed out to Bryce Canyon! And I was treated to snow, sun, clouds, snowstorm, and then a glorious sunrise over the s-capped hoo-doos in Bryce! :)

A class 08 on Dutch soil? No, this is RFO 692 alias NS 692, though painted in a British class 08 livery. It is used for shunting in the industrial area of the town of Oss.

ex-NS 692 rijdt bij Rail Force One in de kleuren van de class 08 van British Rail. De oude dieselloc dateert uit de jaren '50 en het basisontwerk zelfs uit eind jaren '30. Hij is gestationeerd bij de OOC terminal aan het einde van Waalkade. Het rangeerwerk is in principe ook in opdracht van OOC.
Vandaag staan er schuifwandwagens op het emplacement langs de Megelsebaan N329. RFO haalt ze daar op en trekt ze langs de straat Waalkade naar OOC. Deze wagens worden niet, zoals gebruikelijk, bij de OOC-terminal aan het einde van de stamlijn gelost, maar bij de "inland terminal";Die is ook van OOC maar ligt ter hoogte van de bocht halverwege de straat.
Deze autotrein was aangekondigd, en zodoende was dit een goede gelegenheid om hier in de bocht in Oss op te wachten.

Zeldenrust ("Seldom Rest") is one of two remaining windmills in Oss. It was built in 1860. In the 1970's the windmill was restored and made working again.

An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!
Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! I worked on phototranistors and photodiodes as well as an artificial retina for the blind. :)

Na een tijd van afwezigheid keerde het stookolievervoer terug in Oss op 7 oktober 2017. IRP toog naar OOC met een beladen stookolietrein, waarvan de inhoud als vanouds werd overgepompt in een vrachtschip. Op 9 oktober volgde een tweede trein. Nieuw was dat IRP de treinen zelf loste met haar G2000 in plaats van dat Railwork werd ingezet met de bekende 691. We zien loc 2106 bij OOC met een aantal beladen en een aantal geloste ketelwagens. De loc zou weldra de ketelwagens van het rechterspoor weghalen en deze plaatsen op het linkerspoor, zodat de lossing van de laatste wagens in gang kon worden gezet.
Bij de gele losinstallatie aan de kade zien we loc 691 wachten op de volgende inzet. Met het bietenpulpseizoen in het nabije vooruitzicht zal deze inzet vast niet lang op zich laten wachten.
De laadtorens op het OOC terrein worden trouwens bij ieder bezoek een stukje groter en afzichtelijker...

An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!
Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! I worked on phototranistors and photodiodes as well as an artificial retina for the blind. :)
