Organic Vegetables in a grocery store.

I don't know if this counts as a bollard, or perhaps three bollards welded together. Whatever it is, it's protecting an angled pipe of the same diameter whose purpose is unknown to me. The red metal contrasts with the organic textures that surround it. (2882a)

That is an organic pesticide spray- made of tobacco leaves, garlic, chillies and some weak soap solution.

Onion and garlic peels keep away rats and other critters. I'm no authority on this, but it seems to work.

PS: Since quite a few of you asked, this is how I do it.

Disclaimer: again, I am no expert at all! I would love it if you would add in your methods and advise as well! I'm also quite curious to know how neem leaves are used

For about 4l of the repellant:

1 whole pod garlic

a strip of the tobacco leaves (pogesoppu in kannada, pola in malayalam),

couple of red chillies (optional, this is more to keep away squirrels and such that nibble on the leaves.)

Soak all these in a mug of water for about 24 hrs.

Add a bit of bar soap (the yellow '501' bar soaps work well)

Pulse in the mixer (optional step)

Bring the whole soution to just boil

Strain in a muslin cloth.

Dilute the strained solution with water - till its about 4 litres approximately

Spray all over plants, specially on the undersides of the leaves.

Since this is more of a repellant than a pesticide, it is advisable to do this once in 2 weeks or so.

Stu planted these Parsnips in the spring of 2018. They overwintered and this is what we got. It was a very nice yield.

Stone-grinding organic grains (einkorn, rye, oat, kamut, buckwheat, millet and barley) for tomorrow morning's crepes. I sift the flour and than ferment it overnight with raw whey at warm place in order to get rid of anti-nutrients in grains and make them more digestible.

It's Monday and our box of organic fruit and veg arrives from Abel and Cole. Doesn't seem to be anything too weird in here this week.

SAUVIE ISLAND, Ore. – Operating an organic vegetable farm requires hard work and strategic planning. Just ask Brian Wood, farm manager for Sauvie Island Organics, located about 15 miles north of downtown Portland. Brian and his crew operate a thriving Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program on the farm, which has served fresh produce to the Portland community since 1993. Over the years, staff with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) have worked with Sauvie Island Organics to provide financial incentives and conservation assistance. NRCS on-farm projects include installing a seasonal high tunnel and integrating cover crops and crop rotations into the growing schedule. NRCS photos by Tracy Robillard.

A group 3-4 month old of barred rock and production reds chickens feed on grain at Richardson Farms in Rockdale Thursday, Mar 26, 2009. Once the chickens become old enough to lay eggs, in a month, they will be moved out in the mobile chicken chicken coop, following the cattle as they graze in the pasture.

Foraged for things that said organic to me today. Started by finding some juniper berries which I only learned a day or so ago are edible. Tried some shitake mushrooms...a first for me. And finally an onion gone to seed from my garden. Which if you saw my garden you'd easily believe I garden organically. Lots of weeds....lol They kind of got away on me towards the end of August.

Intern at the MSU Student Organic Farm Ben Vanos picks spinach and tosses it into a bucket. The spinach will later be rinsed and boxed before either being taken to the stand on Farm Lane where the farm sells vegetables, or it will go to a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture, member. This is the nutrition fact sheet of a box of Clipper English Breakfast organic tea bags. There must be more nutritive value in the water you pour on the tea bags than in the tea itself. I like the note saying that the percentages are based on a 2000 calorie diet.

I haven't made this style of Chicken in years. My friend Anita from my hometown sent me a recipe for it and I thought I'd try hers. I have to admit, this was very easy to do! I put lemon chive butter under the skin and it made this taste extra yummy! The purple potatoes were from our garden.
