Who knew that blossom-less plants could be so pretty?!!

In fact, the Coleus plant is specifically grown for its many varieties of vibrant leaf colors. The long, spindly flowers are often pinched off so the plant and leaves stay hardy and bushy.

There are over 300 species of the Coleus plant, and botanist have come up with at least 1,500 different varieties to sell to the public.

The variety above is called Coleus scutellarioides. The common name is Charged Up Campfire, probably due to the orange leaf colors resembling the orange flame of a campfire :)

A female Orange-tip found roosting during an evening walk. A bit of a breeze made photography a challenge but a few frames came out well enough. It's been a good few weeks for this species locally.

Love this species!

Shawbury Heath - Shropshire

Just my interpretation of what that might look like - I have no personal experience with hallucinogenics LOL! Edited using deep dream generator dot com - frame added in PS afterwards. Original image in comments.

I'll be taking a few days break from Flickr, attending to family matters in this busy but beautiful Christmas season.

Sixth and last image in this Autumn Leaves series...

I laid my back on the ground under this Maple tree and pointed upwards past the edge of the branches, capturing the blaze-orange leaves against the light blue sky.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, my Flickr friends :)
