The Orange-bellied Euphonia (Euphonia xanthogaster), photographed at La Minga Ecolodge near Cali, Colombia, is a stunning example of the vibrant biodiversity found in the Andean cloud forests. This colorful bird stands out with its radiant orange belly, deep blue-violet back, and a golden-yellow crown, perched delicately on a slender branch. The softly blurred green background adds depth and contrast, enhancing the bird’s striking colors while maintaining a natural harmony with its surroundings.
To capture this image, I used the Canon R5 paired with the RF 100-500mm lens at its full 500mm focal length. The settings included a shutter speed of 1/500 second to freeze the subtle movements of the bird and ISO 800 to balance the dim, diffused forest light while preserving the vibrant tones and details. Photographing this euphonia required patience and a careful eye to time the moment just right. This image reflects not only the technical precision behind the shot but also the serene beauty and fragility of the habitat it represents.

My first attempt at photographing fruit splashing, but it turned out pretty good! I tried it with lemons limes and oranges and this was one of my best photos. (Also for Sliders Sunday - HSS :) )

Orange Hawkweed or Fox and Cubs as it is affectionately known. A beautiful ‘weed’ that looks lovely in the ‘wild’ part of your garden, but it is extremely invasive so must be kept under control. The good news is, it is not deep-rooted so can easily be pulled out if it goes a bit mad 😊

Boldly patterned, rather chunky sparrow of humid evergreen forest and edge in tropical lowlands. Usually on or near the ground in shady understory and thickets; often in pairs. Bright orange bill virtually glows in the dark; also note the bold black-and-white head pattern and black chest setting off the white throat. No similar species in its lowland range.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

An orange sunflower? A quick google for such in Flickr images verified it was really a sunflower - a Mexican Sunflower. Morgan County, Alabama - 2020.
Orange-bellied flowerpecker, Dicaeum trigonostigma, Sepah Puteri Dada Oren
This is the most common flowerpecker in Malaysia. It will always gives loud calls when it is around the area, attracting attention and the bright orange underparts makes easy detection. Usually moves in pair looking for ripe berries especially in the shrubs of Melastoma malabathricum.
Orange-crowned Warblers are fairly plain yellowish or olive-they are more yellow on the Pacific coast ( like one pictured) and grayer, particularly on the head, farther east. They have a thin white or yellow stripe over the eye, a blackish line through the eye, and a pale partial eyering. the namesake orange crown patch is rarely seen, but may become visible when the bird raises its head feathers in excitement or agitation. The under tail coverts are bright yellow and are often the brightest part of the plumage.
These birds migrate to the southern United States and south to Central America.
